What conditions might cause you to stop gambling?

It's easy, if I have a family and a kid to raise and fund his/her education and I am not making a lot of money when that time comes then I would definitely stop gambling altogether, helps with the household finances and many other things could've been used for that money anyways. Another condition I can think of is when I have contracted a disease that will require me to have a medical maintenance to check on the symptoms or slowly treat the said disease, like heart disease or kidney disease, this diseases that I've mentioned are definitely going to make anyone stop gambling. There's probably other conditions out there but these two are the conditions that would definitely make me stop gambling.

Well, I set boundaries and limitations for my gambling sessions. If I reach that point, I force myself to stop playing or gambling, but if you are talking about completely quitting gambling, I don't know if I will be able to quit gambling, and if there's a reason, I still don't know.

Maybe if I don't have money anymore? or I feel I'm keeping on losing and suffering from my losses. Like I said, I can limit myself to gambling, so I know when to stop. If I have a family, of course I need to be more responsible, and losing money is not an option anymore, even for entertainment. But as long as I don't have a family, I guess I will keep on gambling, but with discipline, it's hard for a person to know what will make them quit gambling unless it's too heavy, like being in too much debt, etc. But we know there is a certain point to that.

I will stop gambling maybe because of my future wife if she tells me to stop. Because no matter what, a wife's words need to be listened to for marital harmony, because how can I enjoy my gambling while my wife doesn't like what I do. That could create new problems which I don't want to happen. So instead of adding to the problem, it's better for me to stop gambling.

There will be easy answer for this question and that is when I will don't afford the money for gambling. So that is I will gambling as my as I can afford to lose. Moreover I don't think that if everything is limited within a proper level then I don't think any third person I mean the family person will stop me from gambling. In this case I think if anyone cross his limitation on gambling and that will effect his family then I think that person should stop gambling immediately.

Joking aside, so far the only thing that made me stop betting for a long period was the stress/pressure from the outcome of events.

I have felt at times when I felt like I was losing more and more, I became increasingly aware that I was going too far and gambling irresponsibly, I once felt chaos at that time when I was gambling beyond my limits so that too much money was spent on a win that I never got, Every time I play I never feel satisfied with the wins I get, I keep gambling until I really feel like I'm losing a lot of money.

Since then I have been gambling, changing my way of gambling for the better and no longer thinking about winning the game, especially against the casino, because I know the dealer will always win, this is a mindset game and I have to play with a healthier mindset, namely considering gambling as just a Just for entertainment, don't be obsessed with chasing anything, play and enjoy the game, think of any winnings as a bonus as long as there is a budget limit, everything will be well controlled.

My real story about trying to stop gambling few years ago when there was a bad pandemic. There was a situation when I have to take care about one of my family members who were affected by the virus badly, I had to spend my money and time more for him so there was no other choice. I did not regret it obviously, but I'm proud of myself that I can be someone useful to my family and on the other side I can reduce my gambling habit a lot since that time. It was like a significant change of my life because I was like a gambler who gambled almost everyday but I could leave it for months. The good effect is that I can reduce my gambling activity a lot (like 80%) than before, although I cant stop it completely.

Yes that's right, basically I also think like that usually those people especially who are already addicted will be able to get out of the gambling zone or just reduce it when they have experienced things that make them really bad especially in their gambling activities, such as maybe experiencing a very big defeat that makes them very stressed because of some other impacts such as stress due to some pressure like you experienced.

Basically anything that makes you realize and get out of the bad activity is a better action that should be done, with that then I say you and they are one of the people who can consider choosing a better decision. And if you still find it difficult to quit the activity I think you still have other ways such as just reducing it, it is better than you continue to suffer with all the disadvantages and pressures of the activity.

It is as simple as being a serial loser. 

If you are gambling without having winnings that can encourage you to keep trying then you will be frustrated to stop or reduce the numbers of times you gamble.

I had to reduce mine because of that. There are times you have high hope of winning a bet but at the end you are unluck with the game and it happens consistently, if you are not an addict and you are not expecting to have it as a source of income, you will be discouraged to continue.

So I believe the major reason to stop gambling is if you are always losing out.

Probably when I have no more extra funds to gamble. Of course, addiction is one thing that we need to control these days regardless if we're on a winning or losing streak.

I remembered the time when I cannot really control myself from gambling and had to borrow money from my friend only to lose it. I felt guilty about it but the good thing is that my salary arrived a few days later and paid my friend back.

In order that I should continue online gambling, I need to have a steady income source every month and not spending way above my limit to control myself. Once I am satisfied with the winnings, I would immediately stop and not being too greedy.

I can see few replies saying if they keep losing for a long period of time they will stop gambling, but there are other thing that's most important to me and should be very important to people too.

The reason why I keep gambling is not because I only want to make money, it's because I can afford to lose money for few gains if they ever come, so assuming I lost my job today, you think I will go gambling the next day? Never, it can never happen, because it's my job that's bringing in good amount of money monthly.

If we are gambling responsibly, it will be very hard to find any condition to warrant our decision to stop gambling, gambling is nothing than having fun, when we are happy with the way we do it, then it turns to be one of our favourite means of getting ourselves being entertained, so why should we quit when others are not complaining neither do we get affected by how we gamble, but maybe old age or sickness may stop us over time.

Stopping gambling in my case? Then these would be the ff;

1. Completely busy on work/have no time
2. Wife told me to do so
3. Dont have enough budget or extra for me to gamble.

These are the things which it would completely make me stop on doing or playing gambling.

Many companies operate and fold at their own will when they have probably gathered enough money from gamblers and they are nowhere to be found. There are so many things I wish to stop especially the ones that have negative health and financial implications. Gambling is not part of them because it has no bad effect on my finances and health. I gamble because of two main reasons which are for entertainment and to make side money. Now I don't see the income from gambling as steady or add it to my budget, but peradventure I have a win it will be channelled to meet some needs. So my main focus is to get some fun and that is why I use an insignificant part of my funds to gamble. I have never thought of borrowing or selling personal belongings to fund my gambling activities. I don't have issues with my health because of gambling this is because I don't gamble with more than I can bear. So I have no business with anxiety, depression and hypertension.

• Legislation: A Change in government policies can make me consider halting my gaming activities. If the government criminalises gambling, then it will be better to stop to avoid sanctions.
• Pressure from spouse: If my partner becomes uncomfortable with gambling and comes up with some genuine reasons, I might consider stopping my gambling activities
• Societal pressure: A political, religious, or educational leader must have to behave in a manner that is acceptable to society. It will be morally wrong for a President, Bishop or Vice Chancellor to be a gambler. Many people see such people as the custodian of the morality of the society. So I might consider quitting if I attain a certain level in life

1. I am married and I don't make decisions on my own anymore, if my partner want me to stop gambling I will have to do it.

2. I am a responsible gambler and I don't always gamble every day, sometimes I takes me weeks to start feeling like gambling again, so if I have to stop it will be because I can't afford the money to gamble that week.

3. The money I use for gambling mostly comes from my personal business, if the situations is getting tighter and no good sales, then I have to stop because I have some responsibility to partake at home, I won't want gambling to get in the way.

I have stop gambling many times before, but I still always go back when I can afford the money, as small as the amount is, sometimes I find it hard to afford it, because like I've said I am not alone and there are some holes that needs to be filled in the family.

It is a difficult condition for us to continue gambling because we really don't have any money anymore. And that is a normal condition that someone will experience when gambling, so in that condition, they really can't continue gambling. But as long as we can control money management for gambling, we will not run out of money for gambling because we know when to stop. First is self explanatory, some might say a gambling addict would be seeking for ways just to gamble but in my case I’d probably stop; depends on your personality by the way. Another is loss of function; if I wouldn’t be able to interact with my friends, do chores, finish my tasks then this would be the time to stop. Of course it won’t be easy in such state but knowing myself I would do things to cope up with the situation. Your second condition is pretty much a profound and sad one, losing connection with the friends because of your habit is depressing and I think it's depending on someone's personality and will if they'll be able to stop because if the incessant gambling is the cause of that 2nd condition then it's difficult to just simply move away from gambling.

I play out of boredom or if I really want to get something out of a game and I'm literally putting money where my mouth is, but if I found a new hobby that will shadow my interests in gambling, that will do it. My financial state is somewhat stable for the next year or so, and I'm not rushing to get more money and will certainly not do it through gambling. So if there's something that will stop me from betting, that will be something that occupies my full interest, and that is a new hobby.

If that's the case, I must say that this is one of the best solution to stop you from gambling but once you get the right hobby for you, you'd better to control you decisions also your spending habit even if it's not for gambling so that you wont be addicted to it. gambling can be something that brings joy for the gamblers, even they do gambling till a level of addiction. so I think one of situations that make us stop gambling is finding another joy with no risk of losing money. This is about psychology. realizing that we can have joy from something is not gambling the main factor for people to stop gambling. environment is also a key factor. anything around us can trigger us to do what people around us are doing.
