Remember that once bitcoin is lost, it may be considered lost forever. Even those well known big investors have been a losing a lot of bitcoin and until now they can still hardly retrieve it or redeem their lost bitcoins. So never expect that these random individuals who claimed that they are good and experience bitcoin analysts could easily fix the issue. It could be the other way around, you trust them and you lost even more.

I would say research is the key. Its not that you would do your diligence to research on how to redeem your lost bitcoin, but definitely on how to secure the safety and security of your bitcoin while you store it in your wallet. Go for an offline wallet, that way the risk of losing your bitcoin from online scammers could be lessen if not stopped.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

I saw something on Quora that worried me. Someone said that he lost 1200 BTC to scammers. Then, I saw some people sharing/claiming to be experts in recovering lost bitcoin. They shared their contact details like Telegram IDs and WhatsApp numbers.

I have a suspicion that the person who lost the BTC might be the same one giving out those contact details or advices. They could be trying to trick others in the future who search for help online. Google might suggest similar questions on Quora, and people could end up sharing their private keys with scammers.

Whenever I see people sharing their contact so you can privately message them, I take my mind off it cause that’s the step one that shows it’s a big scam and lie. And yes, it’s possible that the question is only a scheme for them to plant those numbers so people who search for how to recover their Bitcoin may fall into the trap. One of the ways to know what response is valid is by checking the number of likes (tho you must note that people can buy likes anyway).

Yes, there are many ways that scammers can use the trick to steal their Bitcoin and wealth. And sadly, many people believe that it is a true story and try to solve the problem. As we know, The scammer can easily provide false evidence by taking the fake Bitcoin address on Explorer, so that proves, many people in Quora believe the story is true, and maybe out there someone is sorry and gives the donate to him, or if there is easily influenced, they will contact that number to solve the same problem, but of course, he would be trapped in a hole who was made by the scammer.

What makes us lose Bitcoin is our own fault and we need to be able to fix it if we no longer want to experience losing the Bitcoin we have, I agree with that, we cannot trust anyone who claims they can recover the loss of Bitcoin we have and if we choose to believe in them we will certainly suffer losses.
It is very important to be able to secure the Bitcoin wallet that we have because we will not know people who have malicious intentions towards the assets we own and we should not easily trust everyone who wants to help us recover the amount of Bitcoin that we have lost.

As far as I am concerned, this is not a new scam pattern, it is an old one. It is best to search very thoroughly for any fraudulent scam attempt involving cryptocurrency that is suspected, there is a high probability that it has already been reported. Some people might find it difficult to deal with cryptocurrency wallet hijacking and phishing due to its very high rate.

Investors who have been participating in the market for a long time and have experience will know this is a scam. But the problem is that these scammers, the people they target, are all newbies, naive people, who easily believe what they see. This type of scam does not directly target people who are losing bitcoin and are looking for help. These scammers are targeting newbies looking for help like the OP said. Newbies often have the habit of looking to experts to find a formula to make money quickly, so they easily fall into this trap.

So, if you are new to all this, be careful. Don't trust random people claiming to be experts on Quora or anywhere else. They might just be trying to get your private information.

A month ago I also met someone in the local airdrop community and it seemed like he was a beginner who had just invested in bitcoin and asked for help from fellow members to recover the bitcoin in his wallet because he no longer had access and he said he was willing to pay a large amount if there was who can recover their bitcoins, but fortunately several admins in the community immediately warn that no one can recover lost bitcoins, either due to loss of private keys or due to hacking.
My advice is always to educate and direct them if we encounter newbies who complain about the same thing because it could result in their privacy data being leaked and could be exploited by fraudsters.

This question: https://www.quora.com/I-just-lost-1200-BTC-to-scammers-now-How-can-I-recover-my-BTC-back
scroll to see more answers like these.
This is an old format that scammers use with the intention of gaining the trust of their victim before scamning them. I usually see it in Facebook and how this work is that they will hack several Facebook accounts, then use one account to make the proposal then several accounts to share testimony of successes... same person or group of persons controlling all the hacked accounts. If you are not smart, they might convinced you into thinking that it was a genuine offer only to find out when they are done with you.

Their targets is usually to steal your money or sensitive information and where that did no lt work, they will attempt to hack your account.  Like you said, trusting random people offering help in the internet is dangerous.

I am surprised that many people still don't know about this format, because it doesn't take long after doing my research on Bitcoin for the first time that I get to know of this trick, I lost my recovery seed and the wallet contain few BTC so I shared the story online through twitter, I started getting DM about how I can recover the recovery seed to my wallet, I just knew its impossible but I decided to see where it leads.

The person connect me to another stranger for the recovery but I believe I am still talking to the same person, and he told me to pay some amount of BTC first that after the recovery I will pay the balance, I knew the first payment is their ticket to get out and run with my money.

I opened up to them why it's impossible to help someone recover their lost seeds, and the scammer end up blocking me, I laughed about it because he felt the pain of me not falling victim to his plan after several discussions together.

I don't see how anyone should be a victim to this, because you already know what a recovery seed or private key is, once you lost it there is no way to get it back, it's foolishness of you to get scammed twice in a roll.

I've already had this technique in mind.

Let's say John claims to have lost Bitcoin, alleging he was scammed. Then, this John uses another Quora account, offering recovery services and providing a contact name. Typically, fake reviews are added by John to boost the reputation of his posts offering BTC recovery services. Actually, no one really loses Bitcoin, and there's no genuine service for this. John just aims to gather sensitive data from his victims by manipulating the reviews given to himself.

It's an old strategy, and I've been suspicious from the start. For those unfamiliar with this tactic, be cautious when seeking help from strangers. The online world isn't just filled with good people... there are still many with malicious intent who want to seize assets by any means.

The majority of scams happening in crypto space is because of peoples lack of knowledge, how can someone promise to get your lost Bitcoin back for you? How? With a magic wand or what? People believe in stupid things easily when they are desperate to get answers.

If you understand bitcoin wallet very well you should know that once you lost your private key it's over, there is nothing in the world that can get your Bitcoin back for you, no machine or even an alien can do it, that's why you need to handle your wallet backup like it's all that matters to you.

This method is oldish but sadly people still fall for it till this day, and that's because some new people are joining crypto everyday, they have no clue about the dangers that awaits them on almost everywhere online.

That's what the OP is saying and wants to warn people about, this trick is nothing new and nothing strange to those with experience in the market. Because no one has enough time to go on social media to seek help when they have lost millions of dollars in bitcoin. In that situation, going directly to a specialist and even asking the police to intervene is something we would definitely do.

There are no good people in the internet world, let alone a few bad people. To be honest, I have not seen anyone in this market who intends to help others without asking for any benefits.

It is old but still effective in a way that many people still fall into it and give trust to someone who claimed themselves that they can recover lost Bitcoin while the fact is that, it was the same person  - the one who lost BTC and the one who recovered it.
Of course, anyone can be attracted to such (fake) transactions plus several positive replies and showing successful recovery. Yes, we all never know their trick and they played it well in order to see it real. Those desperate people who lost their Bitcoin will probably join this and lose more.

From personal experience, I think Google is the last place to seek help when having challenges in the crypto space, because you may get misleading links that could harm you or expose you to so much harm.

I don't recommend Google search, this forum BTT is idea for crypto related issues and those in need can seek assistance here, not on Google.

Such fools operate in this forum too advertising their services blatantly and act as if they are the real deal when literally everyone can see right through their facade. This isn't really a big issue since extremely few people fall prey to such scams.

What's way more annoying and threatening are actually phishing links which look like the real site in almost every way.

I read the answers to this question and a lot of the answers tickled me and made me smile because in the end even if it's true about losing their bitcoins to fraud but there are still people who do take advantage of this for their own benefit and this is really crazy and proof that life is hard.
But on the other hand this can also be used as a promotional event and make it appear as if they lost bitcoin so that they can promote their merchandise indirectly by claiming they can return the bitcoin lost due to fraud so that when someone has the same problem they can immediately look for the information listed and actually make the person who lost even more loses.

But when looking at some other answers it is still fortunate that there are people who are still good by giving good answers such as

Emphasis on the “do not trust strangers online” when it comes to your personal information or anything that makes you vulnerable to attacks.

There have been similar threads like that here in Bitcointalk but the only difference here is that we have people that are constantly reporting such type of threads to be deleted and also giving neg-tags to those account but on quota you can’t differentiate between legit posts and post made to deceive the readers.

Correct . There are a lot of scams nowadays, be more alert in getting to know people in this virtual world, don't easily trust strangers you just met,  Sometimes even the closest people often cheat, especially strangers

So, if you are new to all this, be careful. Don't trust random people claiming to be experts on Quora or anywhere else. They might just be trying to get your private information.
The person sharing does details might end up been scammed again, the chances of getting their money back is low and does
Asking the victim so details. I hope is not one of their schemes, for some one to loose does amount of Bitcoin is something that is very painful fallen another trap will just break him.

You have point maybe the victim was the one that gave out is details because I don't think they would have gotten access to his wallet without him, and scammers are trickier than we expect, maybe the victim was given option of him investing on platforms to make more profit and once they have gotten the details they need the next thing is to move does funds.

The clear statement of not your keys not your coin and aside the advice in this community their is nothing he can do to get does bitcoin back and I fear some of them claiming that they lost there bitcoin in their wallet i feel some of them are scammers them self and looking for ways to break into another person's wallet, is something people can do when it involves money.

I love the fact that he was cleared about impossibility of getting the bitcoin back so if it is real story or not, and have your data or privacy bridge is dangerous even that can give them access to your bank account.

The phishing attacks rate are now become rampant, people need to be extremely careful with the links they click on the internet. This attackers are working tirelessly to improve their system making it more real and convincing for people to fall for their trap thereby capitalize on their potential victim. It’s sadden that people fall for this trick, all the money they work so hard for gone in split second. What most people fail to understand is that crypto is a very safe space and you’re entitled to your own privacy and private key, it’s almost impossible for someone to guess your private key, unless you allow it.
We should be vigilant and aware of this attackers, whenever we surfing the internet because this attackers have a way of sugar coating things so that people can fall for their tricks, if you’re confuse about how to go about a particular problem we have YouTube videos that can help us tackle the problem.

Why we are not much interested in fiat money is because with fiat money I am not safe to be accountable for it but if we talk about bitcoin it is completely independent. But we have to remember that as it is independent the responsibility to control it for every individual. If I fail to secure my wallet I will be held responsible. I can never be safe if I entrust my wealth to someone else. Moreover, if the person whom I trust today fails to keep my trust, I will be likely to be deceived. So I don't want to take that kind of risk.
