What term retirement usually denotes to is, to stop working. People often don't like job, so to retire usually tends to be on top of the list. However, if one likes what he does, he will do something similar to pass the time even after retirement.

Now, I'll be honest, I dunno what I am driving at but I wanted to spark topic about retirement. Now, you go,

Consider retirement as an entry, not a departure, into a second act in which passion meets liberation. For individuals who are passionate about their work, retirement becomes a renaissance opportunity to turn professional passions into a tapestry of leisure.
It's an encore performance of a lifelong symphony, an opportunity to write a song of fulfillment and inquiry. As one chapter closes, retirees become writers of a story in which work and joy effortlessly mix, providing an opportunity to appreciate the encore of a life well-lived.

if you like it, and it wont kill you, fine work part time.. treat it like a hobby that rewards you
and know that your not forced to work

i know a couple of gents that are over the national retirement age, both worked in engineering, but enjoy the social community and activity of their golf club
they work just a couple hours a week (one in clubhouse, one on the green) which they use the pay to cover the membership and then spend a few extra hours just playing golf and socialising

i know someone that was a business owner(technology) but later in life found a passion in cooking.  so works a lunch shift at a local restaurant pleasing the customers
he occasionally hosts cooking classes in the evenings

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

I don't know how's life in other country but in here where I live, nowadays I don't think retirement is still that much relevant. I could divide people into two groups, the first one is people who doesn't has many option for their job just took any job, most of the time low-paying job, they most likely hate their job, but they can't afford retirement because there is no money left from their salary to be saved. The other group is people who are people who can get the job that they like and they keep working even after the age of retirement, even after they quit their job they still working sometimes as a consultant, even tho they can afford retirement they do not completely retired.

Like it or not, everyone will face old age, retirement is also very synonymous with someone who is old. Think of retirement as a new role in your life after leaving formal work. Many people feel they are not ready to enter retirement because they can no longer work like they used to, which means their income is much lower than before. Don't feel anxious or worried after entering retirement, there are many things you can do after retirement, one of which is starting a new business.

In today's digital era, it is very easy to build a new business because it is supported by online facilities. This service can make your business run smoothly because it makes various types of transactions flexible and easy from anywhere. Online business is the right choice in the digital era like now, there are lots of products you can sell online, you can use social media to advertise the products you sell such as Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and others.
Your current position will determine where you go next, if you remain silent, then your retirement will be very dark.

Retirement may not be on the top of people’s list anymore as you think as more and more people are choosing to remain working than to go into retirement. For fear of constant inflation, it could be harder for someone to comfortably retire as people presently are already on the hunt for second/side jobs in order to stay afloat to withstand the harsh and strong waves of inflation.

I too believe that a lot of people would opt not to work a day in their life but now has little choice than to work if that person wants to provide for himself.
For a comfortable retirement, you should have worked and earned a lot of money. Enough to take care of your personal and health needs and then some for whatever emergencies that may arise. That’s why people strive to get investments that could be bringing in income at regular intervals. That’s one sure way to comfortably safely retire without having to worry about inflation.

I think the age limit or the restructuring of the business all force the retirement process to take place. I still remember when I got my first paycheck at age 18, wondering how long it would take before I stopped dedicating myself to a job, and when I came into contact with more older people than was typical of my best friend's father, he expressed the fact that his life would be unhappy if he didn't work. For freelance workers, they can be much more proactive in finding work, or as I understand it, it's just the way they approach what life will be like next when job limits appear. I also have a few friends who are very rich materially, and their goal is always freedom at work before the age of 30. They tend to make a lot of money and then enjoy life.

I believe most people will not look for a job if they already have the money sufficient to cover their daily expenses. Retirement is a term when you are already finished on working either due to age or you already acquired financial stability until your life end.

No one wants to work in reality if their life is already sufficient. Retirement is just the teem when you are already stop being a worker.

When we say retirement, it's not just focused on being an employee; retirement means a lot. Others are just used to always referring to being an employee for a long time in a company or government agency.

If it is retirement from being a government employee, the amount of retirement fee paid to retired people is usually large. So after retirement, they enjoy life most of the time.
It cannot be generalized to all companies, because now things are starting to not work as you say. Companies now determine policies unilaterally, and this happens simultaneously. So new employees cannot reject the policy because all companies apply the same policy.

The essence of this policy is to avoid pensions, where each worker will only be contracted for a short period, usually ranging from 3 months to 1 year. It is wise for companies to get fresh employees every year by maximizing their productive age, rather than signing long-term contracts with employees whose productivity levels decrease.

By implementing short contract rules, companies now do not need to spend large amounts of money on their employee pension funds. It is a profitable option for those who have employment. As long as the level of employment in a particular area is low enough compared to the workforce, monopoly will easily occur there. Imbalance causes unhealthy rules to emerge. Including pension funds that will never exist.

I think the OP is right, and I see it that way. It's one thing if your job is a physical job with a certain level of risk and you're not passionate about it, like working in a mine or on an assembly line. But come retirement age, if you have some intellectual jobs that you enjoy doing, why not keep doing them? A clear example would be the signature campaigns on this forum. I don't think that if someone retires this year from their main job, they are going to stop doing signature campaigns because they have 'retired', when it is a fun activity that can be done comfortably from home with their pyjamas on and with free time. An example, I think, would be philipma1957, who already receives a pension and is on a forum's signature campaign.

Retirement is when you can enjoy your life without pressure. It's a situation where you usually don't have problems with money anymore, and you can do anything you want within your budget. People typically retire when they are older because no one works forever; our bodies and minds depreciate, and we cannot compete with the younger generation.

However, there are also individuals who retire from their jobs and start a new business. This isn't easy because owning a business entails more pressure than working for an employer. However, with high risk comes the potential for big rewards. If the business succeeds, you'll likely retire early and enjoy the retirement life, where money works for you.

Even those who love work do not like restrictions. I can love my work, but if a specific number of compulsory hours are set for each day, I will definitely not like this work. If the work is without working hours and without specific tasks that must be carried out, it may not be profitable for the employer. People don't hate jobs as much as the obligations that come from these jobs, which are often a deduction from time for leisure, hobbies, jobs, or other things.

You seriously need to get out of that country that you're from if that's the norm on the retirement is because that's downright sad that the notion of retirement sounds like a choice and not the fate of working your ass off for a long time. Maybe if the workers made unions and try to ask for a fair wage that's updated to the current standard of living, maybe we would see less and less people becoming miserable with their jobs, that's the only way that workers aren't going to become robots that would look at retirement as a death sentence for their livelihood.

Most of people can't retire, so they will be used to work entire of their life. Only old money or someone who work become rich when they were young that doesn't looking to make more money when they're already old and people who willing to work for God.

Average Joe will work under someone company or work in their own small business, even you're an owner of big companies that can work without you. You're still need to evaluate your company and making an important decision when it's needed.

Should you choose to retire on time or retire at the right time?

And before you decide, let me tell you a little bit about what it means to retire on time and retire at the right time.
What is meant by retiring on time, you will retire according to your age, and the average person retires at the age of 59 years to the age of 65 years. The average person retires at that age because their abilities and physical strength are no longer strong if they have to continue working. And plus at that age, it's very vulnerable for someone to get sick. And that's regardless of whether they have enough money to live on or not.

Meanwhile, what is meant by retiring at the right time. When you have enough savings, an investment or a business that even without your presence the business is still running, because you have people who are trusted enough to be able to run the business that you have started from scratch. And if you have all or any of these three factors, then you can choose to retire at any age. Because you already have the assurance that without you working, your needs will still be met, without having to ask a child or ask someone else.

Retirement does not mean complete rest. For example, civil servants who have a running business want to retire quickly and continue the work we are involved in to make the most of it and when someone who doesn't have the skills to work even though he has worked in the government, once he retires, he doesn't know what to do and that's called total retirement. .

Now, I'll be honest, I dunno what I am driving at but I wanted to spark topic about retirement. Now, you go,
Retirement occurs when we no longer work as usual and no longer receive the usual salary each month. The work we do when we are not retired will get used to it when we retire. I don't think there is a worker who doesn't like work while still active.
My definite goal when I retire is to enjoy time with the work that I often did as a hobby at that time.

In my place, the term pension is still getting a regular salary every month for those who work as government employees. For those who work outside the government, I rarely find them receiving benefits from the company they have worked for.

If you see that there are many people who have got jobs in government agencies but they are praying to retire sooner, that means you are seeing a group of lazy people in these government agencies. Because in my area there are still many people competing to become civil servants and hoping to be able to work in government agencies at any salary. So, in my opinion, it would be quite strange if those who still have work experience hope to retire early, even though it is not yet the time to retire.

Meanwhile, those who are still willing to work even though it is time to retire are people who are diligent and creative enough to appreciate the time and work they have. Because they are usually quite aware that there are still many people who are struggling to get jobs in any agency by continuing to take exams and administrative requirements so they can pass and be accepted into government agencies. So we can differentiate between lazy people and selfless hard workers.

When it comes to retirement, it talks about having a rest and enjoy the things that you can't do while you are working like having a vacation, spending quality time with your family and give yourself a time to engage in your hobbies. Sometimes, people who's retired doesn't want to stop on what they are currently doing, that's why there's a lot who's still working after their retirement age because they used to do it and they  want to share their knowledge and expertise to the younger generations. Also one of the reason why people choose to continue on what they are doing because when they stop, they feel more weak, especially since the mind and body are used to the things they do.
