Nowadays, since Covid-19, with 5 substitutions a match, coaches don't want to overuse players and give advantage to opponents that use more substitutions. Coaches have to react properly with tactical and player changes from opponent.

Crying for me is a normal reaction for an athlete who really have so much love and passion for this sports. As this was said to be his last COPA America game, for sure, he would want this to be a memorable one for him and his team. He may not be the one to get the score for his team, but winning for one last time will be a very memorable legacy to leave behind.

Also, on the note about the ankle sprain, it was later revealed that he suffered a grade 3 level of ankle sprain - it is the extreme level of ankle sprain. I had this before and took me like about half a year to fully recover. You maybe can walk after a couple of months but how you walk would not be the same as compared to when you are in normal mode. Since he has great people surrounding him, for sure, they will find a way for him to recover faster.
