Mostly maybe but there are old people who are smart in gambling, they don't rely on luck and bet on game that the chance of winning is close to none, like a lottery. I've seen old people who gambles in sports and cards, particularly poker.

I'm not sure really, because you can have different types of enjoyment out of gambling and two people at different ends of the spectrum might find it equally entertaining. Someone who is closer to retirement age, if they've gone through life to that stage, could be well versed in risk management and fully in control of their finances, yet might still like to place a small bet on the weekend - a parlay even - and get an extra bit of joy out of watching their favorite team win. I don`t buy into this. When it comes to gambling, you cannot differentiate experience from understanding. When we measure time and age in gambling, don`t you think the old have more time than the young? The old is certainly not working but the young is working, so who has more time to himself?
