So, a particular discussion on the gambling board which I am part of; actually put this question into my head, and I thought I should ask the gambling community here, so we could possibly have some fun discussion it.

And the question is very simple, Between the older men (talking of from 60 years old and above), and younger men (talking of from 18 to 45 years of age) which of this category of men actually gamble for fun the more?

If I was to answer this question, I did say that the older men are more likely to be gambling for fun, than the younger men, and this is due to several reasons which I am not going to mention yet, but will see users who share in this same view of mine will be able to also come up with same reasons.

Older men enjoy gambling more because they are more experienced they've been to a lot in gambling and they are well disciplined, they are more stable financially so they can play as much as they like, and they are more of a thinker in gambling and have control in their bankroll.

Compared to younger boys who are too aggressive, they are more explorers because they want to make money because they are not financially stable, they are more likely to be depressed and fall into gambling addiction, so they cannot enjoy gambling because they are finding a way to succeed in gambling.

The worst experience we had in gambling was when we were still young, this is the time when we experimented and tried all kinds of stuff to make us win and this can cause us to lose a lot of money, and this is not enjoyable, in my own experience when I was just starting at a young age was where I encountered all problems related to gambling that I cannot enjoy gambling.

Okay! from my perspective its the older men. Yeah for some reason which I will list below, I believe they gamble more for fun than the younger men:

[1] The older men from 60 years and above gamble more for because at that age this people tend to be fulfilled already. having achieve a level of status they may not longer be interested in making so much money as the younger men would do.

[2] At the age of 60 most old men will only be in search for what makes them happy in order to enjoy they're retirement and the remaining days of their lives. while the younger men will be in search for what will also make them happy too but most time what ever isn't bring or adding money to a young man's wallet isn't making him happy already.

[3] At the age of 60 the older men have less responsibility to carry so wouldn't have any more intention on anything else. but for younger men at the age of 45 and below always have this pressure in them that makes them go extra miles on everything, and most time the older are also included in the pressure of younger men. e.g when your dad is retire the children now has the responsibility to take good care of them so the younger men had much to do than the older men. since gambling offer both fun and funds the younger men will indulge in it for the both reason and older men will for just one reason which is fun.

I hope this three reason of mine will blend in with everyone's reason.

Those who plays more simply enjoys it more regardless of age. There are older people who will testify that they enjoy gambling a lot because it consumes their time given that are mostly out of their jobs and that they are not doing most of their days. On the other hand, young ones are busy doing their job and are just being able to gamble on their free time. What I know is that if there's a will there's a way. On all ages, one would do things just to gamble if they are really into it or just addicted of the activity. Bottomline is the definition of fun. You could have fun of something along with stress, as long as there's more of joy with the experience. I guess it is safer to say that no age will determine the "fun" a gambler would experience from gambling, but rather, the gambler him/herself will do so.

You'd end up stressing regardless of your age if your gambling habits ain't that sustainable and profitable on your run and same thing goes with enjoyment and entertainment into it.

It is the older men that gambles more for fun. They don't have anything to do anymore and that's what they're living their lives being at that age. They've got more money as well because they're retired and probably have a lot of wealth through their working and professional days.

Whilst for the younger ones, they're on the side of accumulating and working for their future. And they've got a lot of distribution of their money and it's hard to start honestly. So, if it's just for having fun then there is no doubt that it is the older folks that gambles for fun.

They wouldn't mind losing today and going back again tomorrow in the casino and have some fun again. You'll see a lot of retired folks trying to do the things that they've missed during their younger days.

Obviously older men because they don't care anymore about money. Younger boys know they need to make a lot money as young as possible, wear a branded clothes, drive a lambo, go to night party and get drunk. All of them needs money and they need to show everyone if they're successful.

But for older men, they know they don't need validation anymore and they will life with the life that they want without even care with other people's opinions.

It cannot be categorized by age because each person economy and life will be different.
If they are rich, billionaires and successful business people, then at any age they will definitely only gamble for fun.
Likewise, if they are gamblers whose background is people who are economically disadvantaged and financially unstable, then it is clear whether they are young or old, they will have the goal of gambling as means of making certain amount of profit.
This is real thing and the attitude and purpose of gambling for fun or not will have more influence on economic factors and also mindset, not about age, but it would be highly recommended for anyone with any condition to gamble just for fun.

Having the goal of gambling to make money is not easy and making money from gambling is very bad mindset and approach.

I believe that the older men who must have finished raising their children and there is not much financial burden on them can be argued to play the game for fun more than young guys, reason being that most young people are still under great responsibilities for their parents, siblings, family e.t.c and there are still much financial expectations, so most of them play to meet those needs and only have fun when they are having wins.

The older men on the other hand have less of these responsibilities and are under less or no pressure to meet up certain needs. They can loose their funds and get relaxed about it as they can request for funds from their kids anytime or they may be on stipends already from their children added to their retirement benefits, and at this time, if gambling really is their thing, they engage with much joy and relaxation.

Just like you, I guess older man only gamble for fun since they already dedicated a lot of their time on gambling to become stay foolish for a long time thinking that gambling is a source of income.

I knew a lot of old gambler that is just gambling to kill time because they have nothing to do in their house due to the fact that they are already retired. They view gambling as hobby and I doubt young gen like us can do that since we are still aiming to earn money for our life which is very hard on not to mix it when gambling.

I would like to base my answer on my experience I'm older now and have experienced my worst in my youth when I was just starting to gamble, I was very adventurous back then, trying all methods even going to the point of taking a loan and lying to my parents so they can add more in my allowance so I can increase my bankroll, my younger version has experienced a lot of bad things it's not an enjoyable time to gamble.
Now I am more relaxed because I have seen and done it all and I know the facts about gambling so I can truly enjoy gambling now more than in my youth, experience is the best teacher, especially in gambling.

Definitely, older men especially those who have been gambling for years have matured enough already. They know how to manage the risk, and most probably they are just having fun, or if they are serious they have their own approach also. Young men whom mostly are not financially stable, they seem to make bad decisions since they are inexperience, and they are just in the learning process on controlling their emotion.

When you are more matured, you know how to control your emotion, and you won't be aggressive, which is the opposite for young gamblers, at least I know a lot of young gamblers who act like that.

I personally cannot assume and compare from the categories you mentioned, because it requires data from the number of old gamblers and the number of young gamblers that must be used as analysis data if your answer wants a scientific approach, and I have to make a questionnaire to many gamblers from these two gamblers to see the exact data.

If I make a personal assumption without a scientific study, this is relative in my opinion, because both young and old have their own desires, because there are also many young people who have fun in gambling and vice versa for old gamblers, so in my opinion this is not concrete. Thus, if you approach it through the nature of youth, which is more burning, it is likely that youth will gamble to get a win than make a happines.

I find this topic interesting because many said that old people think gambling as they can play for fun but I’m still young yet I’m playing like the old guys which is just for fun. when it comes to who loves gambling more and making comparison between the older or younger men, it would have been easy to say that it all depends on the individuals involved but in reality, we see that most young men tend to look at gambling as a means to an end and because they feel they are good in analysis of games, they normally gamble hoping that they will get a win at the end of the day. The older men on the other hand because of this level of experience and exposure might not really look much into always getting a financial incentive from the gambling and might just do it to keep themselves busy and catch up on old memories.

Outside of this, enjoying gambling is totally a personal thing and a younger or older person can love or choose not to even gamble at all

Permit me to simply reference my answer to this question with a similar answer which I already provided on this thread - "I see young gamblers as very impatient. They want to secure the bag by all means including gambling so they lead an unhealthy and irresponsible gambling lifestyle. They do what I call, impulse gambling. Once the thought crosses their minds to gamble, they go ahead to do it. When they see their friends post or talk about gambling, it becomes the trigger for them to gamble. They think they can double their monies through gambling and keep the profit, so they go ahead to gamble. For the older adults who are more experienced and have seen it all, they have the money but not the time because they have sent the whole of their youth working hard to make money and now they see gambling as a way to spend the money and have a good time."

Lets be honest, the old men are most likely to be having a glass of a vintage wine with their Tesla, Bentley or any of those classic cars parked outside of the casinos. These folks are the filthy rich multimillionaires or even those who have retired and just want to have a good time. I know that there are exception to this but they are very little.

Yeah OP I stand on same side with you that older men gambles for fun more than the younger ones because at as that age they've accomplished almost all their dreams in life like building house(s), having a business or company of their own, finished training their children and some other achievements and at that time, they just feel like a time of relaxation waiting for when nature will call them so that period is supposed to be fun period for any man who planned his life very well from young age because if you don't actually plan yourself well when you are young, then the consequences awaits you in old age so someone who doesn't plan his life well and at old age is still involved in gambling then i can say that they ain't gambling for fun because all their focus we be on winning and a situation where the winning isn't coming forth, then they may run into depression or even have HBP (high blood pressure) because they won't be happy and they would be seeing their selves as people who have failed to meet up life obligations.

It is important for the younger ones to plan their future now that they are hail and hearty rather than live lavish or careless life that they would live to regret during old age as time doesn't wait for anyone and the time is now to make positive decisions that will be of good impact to their life tomorrow. Gambling isn't that bad as some persons sees it but it's dependent on ones approach towards gambling that makes it look bad and moreover gambling can make someone and also downgrade someone so it is everyone's duty to gamble responsibly, don't take loans to gamble as you may run into series of debts that you may keep paying till your lifetime. I started gambling when I was still young until now. Maybe I'm already gambling for 20 years and I can say that I'm already old now,lol. But I'm still enjoying gambling. The only difference now is the financial situation I am in is that I am more stable compared to when I was younger.

In my personal opinion, this is actually very relative and age sometimes cannot be used as a definite benchmark for whether older men gamble more for fun or vice versa. Because it all depends on the situation and condition of the person (old/young).

But if we are talking about the majority here, maybe the answer I give will be the same or neutral. Because as far as I know, there are many elderly people who make their gambling activities a pleasure. However, quite a few young men gamble for fun too. So the essence is the same. Because in my personal opinion, gambling can be said to be an activity for fun. Both for parents and for young people. Because if you think deeper, everyone definitely wants pleasure when gambling. Because by gambling sometimes the problems you experience are a little forgotten. Apart from that, when we make a profit, that is where we will get the highest level of pleasure in gambling. You're absolutely right,I also considered the old men as a set of people who enjoyed the fun to the fullest,because most of them started this gambling stuff right from when they where once a youth like us,up till now they are still on it,but they never get addicted to gambling due to some  experience they have,they know the secret about gambling.

But nowadays most of our youths who happens to be a gambler,i think they are not using there initiatives reason is because they don't realized what gambling is all about,instead they see it the other way round.

More especially those of our youth who are into virtual sports,they can decide to spend the whole of the day in a bet shop without even considering the fact that they has wife and children that they needs to attend to.

I don't know why you didn't consider the 45 - 60 years old. Is it another category or something? Because I know there are a lot of people that gamble at that age.

If we were to consider gambling, I think it's more older people because they have a lot of money and more time I guess that's why the number of gamblers is more on the higher number side.

This is actually a difficult question to answer given that there are players who have different views and perspectives when it comes to gambling in which age is irrelevant.

For example, a young gambler may enjoy gambling and experiencing that adrenaline despite having a limited amount of money due to the obligations that they do not need to fulfill. On the other hand, there may be adult gamblers who view gambling as a way to release stress which eliminates profit as a factor.

Funny, probably the missing link   I see Op didn't cover this age bracket and who knows where they fall in the age scheme, like middle older young age or middle old age  

Anyway, for the reasons I think in my head, the old will gamble more for fun than the young. This is with the age classification mentioned for the aged, they are probably having lesser financial challenges to take up and so they are at the stage of live where they are relaxed, do lesser physical jobs, probably advised by their physicians to always do exercise and fix themselves with whatever that will make them happy and reduce pressure on their heart.

The older people probably have more stable income than the young so even when they lose, they may not feel the financial pressure. They are either retirees who receive pension. In fact, it goes down to being more financial stability in investments and source of income.

I enjoyed it when I was young and now when I am almost 40... but it's not the same kind of enjoyment, and now I am not risking as I used to. As we grow we get to experience different perspectives, and that change our behavior and way of thinking. So I am not sure who "enjoys more", but definitely there is something in "young & crazy" and in "old & wise", when we are young we hurry and run and there's some fun in that, as we get old things become slower and we don't have the same expectations.

It's not the same when we are young and old, years matter, so each of us needs to experience it and to to enjoy the moment while it lasts!

But yes, that's true, that's what happened. I'm almost 40 years old and I think of it more as a gambling game to have fun, in contrast to young players who are usually beginners who haven't learned from their experiences which ultimately makes them sometimes make wrong decisions. I'm a beginner in this game. Several years ago I also had an experience like that of making decisions too quickly and ending up making unnecessary mistakes resulting in spending a lot of money losing on gambling.

But after learning a lot and the longer I gambled, the more experience I took away, that is, every defeat made me more mature and made me realize many things. That's not what I actually want to win and a lot of money from gambling, but I can play and enjoy the game so it should be fun for me. Honestly, I agree with you. Older gamblers are more experienced and can enjoy gambling without being greedy and chasing losses, while young gamblers are more emotional, greedy and like chasing losses. I think this happens because young people still have strong emotions while older people can control their emotions better. However, this is just my speculative opinion, the reality is not guaranteed and age cannot be the basis for which of them is more responsible in gambling.

I think the old man will have more fun in gambling.

Many old men do not really give a shart about their money anymore. Especially those with bad families that do not deserve any inheritance. So what does an old guy do with his fortune? Gambling is definitely a fun option, I would think. And gambling losses do not really hurt him.

On the other hand, the young man is a risk-taker. He is at the age of wanting to impress women. He thinks that the riskier the behavior, the better. But the young guy does not understand life yet. And his gambling losses will hurt him a lot. I doubt it will be fun for him.

I would say the older men, maybe they are already in the twilight of their careers and just wanted to enjoy their life to the fullest. We're dealing with two extremes here, both with little to no responsibilities at that particular point in their lives. With that in mind I say that in average these age groups could have the same level of enjoyment as each other.

Besides the responsibilities and money pressure factor, the reason why I thought so is because of the fact that stressors aren't really present anymore when you're as old as these two age groups. On one hand, you got the world on your hands and you basically have all the time in the world to make up when you fail. If anything, being 50+ and retired is one of the best things in life that could happen to people. I don't know if you can actually remember the incident I talked about here some months ago, when I said that there was a man from my location who is very addicted to gambling, and his children don't trust him with money any more because they believe he will only use the money to gamble. What actually led to the disbelief his children had for him was after one of his daughters gave him money to buy a plot of land, but the man, being so greedy, thought of multiplaying the money (lol), so he went gambling, and the game got ruined and the money was gone. Don't you think to have fun one needs to be young and have energy and love for life etc. When it comes to 60+ age, most of people are not healthy and are involved in some sort of illness and other things. Also as the man grows old, his ability to think and take decisions also deteriorates. Some individual who are still youth and are making money from their main source of income and other side hustle that they have won't be gambling to make money. That is an interesting question where we would need some older guys here from the forum that are 60+ years old and enjoy gambling to give their opinion. As for me I would expect the fun to be a bit different the older we get. At a young age we have a lot of time for gambling, but we don't have the money to gamble so much. Once we are old we have the money to gamble a lot more, but with the time it looks a bit different. Life is harder and we need to look much more after the health. From what I saw during my many visits in my local casino is that young guys usually come in groups and alcohol plays a big part in the gambling night. So it's definitely going to be a fun night out because of the alcohol. But for older people 50+ years I don't see so much alcohol, they do drink some but never to get drunk. Also elderly gamblers usually come with a beautiful woman that tends to be younger then them. I think for them it's more about having a good company and enjoying their time than it's about gambling itself. I would expect for the younger gamblers there will be more fun in gambling itself.

Although they are old, older men or people tend to have something that could accompany them so that they will not get bored, and gambling is one of them. It doesn't mean that someone is gambling; there is always money involved. Well, I see things differently from yours, and if I'd clocked the age of 60 years, I don't think I would be gambling anymore. I can only be exposed to games among friends and family, nothing monetary afterwards. But there are many young people who are fully involved in their studies/career or sports or online games (not gambling). My opinion is that it does not depend on age. Not all older people have enough free money to spend it on gambling, I would even say on the contrary, they have already “experienced in life”, so they rather work more to help their children/grandchildren (at least in my country this is the custom).

I guess younger men have many other more exciting things to do apart from gambling.    For older people it's a nice way to relax, also older people  often have more spare money. Just my 2c.

I think gambling is something that can be enjoyed regardless of age. Here's some examples:

Young children that have maybe just gotten in their teens or even before that sometimes, will obsess over what in game drop them receive whenever there is supposed random chance involved to unlock a virtual item such as a digital in game knife that looks neat or a character skin tnat makes their game avatar appear in a different manner than usual.

Well we can only trust word of older gamblers in this case, because they have been both, young and old so only they would have perspective to answer to this.

But as a someone over 45 i would imagine that i was more excited playing younger, but i wasn't playing that much of for fun, as much i was trying to win big. Now as older, my perspective has changed. I still dream of winning so much my life is set, although my expectations for it actually happening are better adjusted to reality. And while i was more excited, it wasn't always fun. I gained vivid memories for sure, but learned from my losses so that i can now play for fun too.

So i imagine that in 15+ years, if i am still gambling, (and wouldn't i be?) it must be really for fun. As more older i am getting, i am getting better on having my life together and balanced.

So, a particular discussion on the gambling board which I am part of; actually put this question into my head, and I thought I should ask the gambling community here, so we could possibly have some fun discussion it.

And the question is very simple, Between the older men (talking of from 60 years old and above), and younger men (talking of from 18 to 45 years of age) which of this category of men actually gamble for fun the more?

When you talk of someone in their 60s, its expected that such a person should be financially stable as they worked hard in their youthful days to enjoy their old age. And if they choose to gamble I believe its more of the social well being than the money and they could actually enjoy this kind of setup.

As for the younger men, I think the fact that gambling is more of a financial thing means if they are winning they will have the fun but if it turns out to be chasing loses then gambling cant be considered fun.

But between the two, who gets to have fun I think its not a age group thing but all depends on each independent individual!!

If I was to answer this question, I did say that the older men are more likely to be gambling for fun, than the younger men, and this is due to several reasons which I am not going to mention yet, but will see users who share in this same view of mine will be able to also come up with same reasons.

The only difference in betting is experience and complete knowledge about this field. Age does not play any role. You may find a young person playing for fun more than an old person, especially if he has a large budget. As for the old person, he may be addicted and find no fun in it.

Honestly, I can't say which of the two feels that way more because there are young gamblers who have been gambling for a long time just enjoying themselves, and there are also old people who are playing gambling for the first time and not for fun. just the aim here.

 I don't know if all the ages of 60+ is they will gamble for sun cause as I know in my neighbor he is already a senior citizen which is his age is around 60+ and then he told me that he gamble for fun only cause he didn't take it serous cause he will know that through gambling losses is bigger than the winning amount so he won't be affected if he gonna loss cause he need is to relax his mind and being happy.

As someone who deals with human behavior and age-related tendencies, I believe that maturity typically brings self-control. This may improve one's ability to enjoy gambling without its risks. I think its naive to think everyone can have good self-control.

Age, self-control, and gambling are not black and white, in my experience. Some gamble responsibly as leisure. Set limitations; follow them. However, some, regardless of age, cant resist the temptation. This is a complicated interaction of psychological, social, and maybe hereditary components, not just willpower.

You and I support fun gaming by identifying these differences and promoting responsible gambling for all ages. Education, awareness, and, most importantly, developing self-control-friendly surroundings without judgment are key.

Maturity can bring self-control, but we must remember that having maturity does not guarantee they can maintain self-control. I’m really confused on why such people choose losing their money instead of using it on purchasing other things that will make them happy. If I’m on that age, I will rather use my money on dining with fancy restaurants, going to trip and many more rather than use it on gambling if I knew in the end that gambling will always result to losses.

There’s nothing wrong on using gambling as source of entertainment but it’s wrong to think that it’s the only source of entertainment just to fuel the urge on playing gambling and chase for the “entertainment” that is truly just an addiction.
