Well sad reality but whenever people know that you are doing gambling or you like gambling, they will classify you as Gambler, which is when they hear the word gambler it is something bad to them because it become a social norms that if someone is a gambler automatically it is an addict in gambling but little they know, gambler and an gambling addict is different, yes both gambler and an a addicted to gambling both do gambling games and waste money just to play and hope to win, but a gambler cannot be classified as gambling addict is he/she still can control his expenses in short responsible when it comes to money, while gambling addict is becoming worst as they let themselves swallowed by the gambling. Well there could be a lot of definition of gambler, but basically, it defines a person who engage into gambling activities regardless of the amount of bet and how frequent one engaged into it.
Gambler can also be divided into few different categories :
- Casual gamblers
- Regular gamblers
- Compulsive gamblers
Now, in your case since you don't gamble seriously and that treat gambling as a form of entertainment solely, you can be called a casual gambler.
You can always be called a gambler simply because you engaged into it.
Generally, you are called to be someone where you're engage into, like when you play a certain sport or video game, you'd be called a player regardless if your a newbie or a pro.

What is the appropriate call for people who spend money for their gaming? the kind that has money attached to it when you play. For me, there is nothing wrong with the word Gambler, it's just up to the person how they classify a person when they call him a gambler. IMO, it's not bad, but it's only if the opinion is bad from people who have the stereotype that gamblers are bad people. In fact, not everyone who gambles is a bad person, and here it is simply a concept but your own way of calling it. I see nothing offensive in the word "Gambler", and I don't mind to be called gambler myself. By definition, gambler is a person who risks money on a card game, horse race, etc., and I think that it's very accurate definition. They don't specify what kind of money is put at risk, neither they say how often the bets are made. If it's too often, then you are an addicted gambler, and if the amounts are big, you are a reckless gambler, but if you always risk what you can afford to lose and you are not thinking about it all the time, then you are just gambler, and I like the word, to be honest.
