For example, your gambling budget is 20% of your income and instead of just sticking to 20%, your gambling starts consuming and cutting into other expenses and sometimes you even end up using all your income just to satisfy your gambling urges and you only feel better when you're left with nothing. I don't think an addicted gambler can meet all these levels of sanity, unless he is not really addicted. I honestly think you have neither been an addict before nor stayed close to an addict, lest you know addicts are out of control. let's review the meaning of addiction first.

I think that any kind of addiction is a problem. If a person is dependent and has no problems today, this does not mean that he will not have them in the future. Also, any kind of addiction is not good for the soul. An addicted person begins to think more about it, spend more time on it, and devote less time to loved ones and their own development. You are just saying heresies bro, your points are very far from the truth. First, "addiction is not addiction" is wrong as used in the context because it is not all addictions that are bad. I had an argument with someone a while ago about this and I realised that many of you guys are just saying what comes to your head without making some extra searches to verify. Regardless, addiction is bad when it pushes you to some irresponsible acts, especially if it is affecting your life and that of your loved ones negatively. This is what I also realise you believe is the addiction, but there is more as addiction can also happen in a positive way.

If you ever love doing something to the point that you are obsessed with it, you are actually addicted to it and it doesn't matter if the thing is positive or negative to you. For this, people do have to paint you badly by doing it before it is an addiction. So some addictions could be good, it is all about what you are doing and finding it difficult to let go when you try to. I just assumed that Op was referring to regular gambler and not addiction. Most at times, people mistaken regular gamblers as an addicted gamblers while these category of gamblers are obviously different. As far as I know, it's not possible to be addicted to gambling and you will not have problem with some of your activities or even relationship with your loved ones. Just like the first reply on this thread by Oshosody stated, it's not addiction if it's not causing you problems.
