Although GENIUS Act already provided rule on stablecoins in previous year, current bill is last piece in seeing whether U.S will lead business or if it will be taken over by other countries. Simple passing of the bill without tough changes by the banks would cause Trump-led price jump. Current bad decision of market in my view is high risk bets where Trump can pressure Senate to win the bill, but banks fighting it, even win would be weakened with same rules business is attempting to get rid of.

Are there rich whales of the Donald's memecoin in this forum? It appears that you are very lucky. The president of America is inviting you for lunch in Mar Lago if you are a top holder hehehehe. It would be very much appreciated honor if someone can represent bitcointalk.org heheheh!

Holders of the $TRUMP token will have another opportunity to dine with the U.S. President after the company behind the token announced a "gala luncheon" with Donald Trump set for late next month.

The luncheon, scheduled for April 25, comes just under a year after token holders were invited to a previous dinner with Trump. That one was open to the top 220 holders of the token, while this new one will bring in 297, with 29 invited to a VIP tour of Mar-a-Lago, the event venue, the issuer of the token said Thursday.

News update!

It appears that the Trump pump has returned after a speech he has made in the Whitehouse! This very much appears that the Clarity act will pass and delivered to the desk of the Donald for signing. Thank you Donald J. Trump!

The rally accelerated after US President Donald Trump renewed calls for Congress to advance digital asset market structure legislation following discussions with cryptocurrency industry executives.

Trump's backing of the stalled CLARITY Act, which aims to establish clearer regulatory treatment for digital assets, helped revive expectations that the US regulatory environment could become more supportive of the industry.

Cryptocurrencies were also supported by the US Treasury's decision to expand purchases of longer-dated government debt. The move drove Treasury yields lower and weakened the US dollar, providing a favourable backdrop for Bitcoin and other alternative assets.

I find it a bit irrational to see how this has affected the Bitcoin market in particular, but we already know that’s how markets are – irrational. Although I do like it when that irrationality works in my favour, as in this case, with Bitcoin on the rise.

Trump’s speech, and above all the anticipation surrounding the passage of the Clarity Act, is much more bullish for other cryptocurrencies than for Bitcoin, but I suppose it has pushed the entire market upwards overall.

Trump's backing of the stalled CLARITY Act, which aims to establish clearer regulatory treatment for digital assets, helped revive expectations that the US regulatory environment could become more supportive of the industry.
That's not new and I personally think it had no effects on the price, and even if it did, it's effects were priced in before this rise.

This large rise started after the news about US national debt reaching $40 trillion dollars. We can see its effects on other markets as well. Oil and gold (and precious metals in general) are also on the rise and are rapidly setting new highs compared to previous month(s).
We already knew that as dollar fails, price of every hard asset goes to the moon. And that's exactly what's been happening here.

All these isn't for Bitcoin, but Bitcoin will benefits from it anyway, Trump said he wants HyperLiquid in the US, and as per what my chart is saying it's time for other cryptocurrencies to shine, I'm not just sure if Clarity Act is what we actually needs, someone I respect and use to follow is saying that Clarity Act will be bad for crypto, he doesn't want it to happen, the question I have now is have we really bottomed or this is another big bull trap loading?

Price effects can be priced in before or after a big approval and a latest lesson is from Bitcoin Spot ETF approvals in January 2024 in the USA. Many months before the approval from SEC, people talked too much about very high probability of Bitcoin Spot ETF approvals because they saw participation of BlackRock that has very high successful rate in their Spot ETF applications in the past, and from a solid foundation from Grayscale's won lawsuit case before.

Then we all witnessed that after January 2024, effects on Bitcoin market and price were not too big as expected by most of the community. It's because effects were priced in before January 2024 and approval announcement.

If we have long term investment plan, we will not care about whether effects will come before or after any big approval. Effects will come sooner or later, and effects can come and go but the market stays and Bitcoin growth is solid with time.

It sure seems like the government was waiting for the bottom of the four year cycle to load up their reserve of Bitcoin and that appears to be the plan. I assume the Clarity Act will pass next month and then it will be all eyes on a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. This could be an exciting year if old Donny Boy comes through with a million BTC buy.

Trump's words could have been just a small addition to the US Treasury's debt buyback announcement which triggered market growth. it's worth noting that the future buyback is merely a shadow of the previous quantitative easing programs and we're already seeing this effect in the market. I can imagine how the Bitcoin price could rise if the US resumes its previous quantitative easing programs. also Trump still has his own interests, he needs to sell his shitcoins TRUMP and WLFI tokens at a higher price.

I would argue against your argument and I would also mention that your argument that the cause of the pump is the national debt of the US and A is headshaking.

On the Clarity act, before the Donald's announcement, bitcoin is very much not pumping and the ratings on the chance of the Clarity act's approval is low. After the Donald's speech, the Trump pump has begun.

On your argument that the national debt is the cause of the pump, if this is true then bitcoin should have pumped to more than $1 million already before this has occurred because this national debt of America has been on very dangerous levels already.

Also, it is headshaking that this people in this forum will not accept if the Donald caused the Trump pump, however, they will blame him if there was a dump that he has not caused heheheheheheee.

News update. We have the opposite of Trump.

Gavin Newsom might become the next president of America and there are already warning signs that his administration might become an anticrypto administration.

In any case, I agree on his reason on why there should be a memecoin ban for politicians to avoid this becoming a platform for corruption. However, I am very much afraid that he might attack the whole of the cryptospace and bring back uncle Gary as his secretary of treasury.

California's Newsom signs memecoin ban and calls it 'The Opposite of Trump'

On Sunday, California's Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law that bans the state's public officials from issuing memecoins, or cryptocurrencies representing a famous personality, internet joke or viral trend rather than a specific use case.

California's Newsom signs memecoin ban and calls it 'The Opposite of Trump'

Yep, and this is just good politics. Today Americans are suffering from sky-high prices and are pissed off about the US being in an incredibly stupid war in Iran. They are sick of reading another story about Trump or one of his cronies like Elon Musk making another billion while they can't afford to fill their gas tank.

It's called "backlash" and it's exactly what I predicted before Trump was elected (probably somewhere in this very thread Smiley).

And it's not going to end with California: in the coming elections this sentiment is going to go national.

The crypto industry did this to themselves: crypto is now the #1 lobby group in the USA, surpassing spending by Big Oil, Big Pharmaceutical, Big Tobacco, and all of the others.

And unlike other lobbies, Crypto has taken a distinct side in US polarization: they have chosen Trump, Trump, and Trump. Today the crypto industry is absolutely welded to Trump and his party, and now most Americans think of Bitcoin and crypto as, "a Trump thing".

In the late 1940s we had Mussolini dragged through the streets in Italy and we had "denazification" in Germany. This is what happens when a regime gains massive power and then (inevitably) screws things up for the people: they want the opposite of what just happened.

Coca Cola isn't caught up in this, nor is Ford Motor Company. People aren't going to backlash against Nike Shoes or the NFL because of high gas prices. That's because these businesses aren't run by short-sighted idiots who attach their products to US partisan politics.

@legiteum. Do not make the assumption that Gavin Newsom has made the decision because he cares for the people. If the liberal transformers in this forum can argue that the Donald is an evil emperor, it can also be argued that Gavin will also be an evil emperor.

However, I am not arguing about politics. The real argument is about the Democrats strike back against the cryptospace and this will certainly not be good for our investments in cryptocoins, including bitcoin! Similar to what is being implied in this article, the Democrats and their supporters the liberal transformers will make it appear that the cryptospace is evil.

I reckon, the real reason why they are doing this is because the owners of big banks want all control over currency, including the illegal transactions similar to moneylaundering hehehehehee. They do not want competition!

U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin Tether is a go-to tool for the Iranian government to bypass sanctions, a new report from a group of Senate Democrats said.

Democrats on the Senate's Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee's Permanent Subcommittee on Intelligence published a report Monday laying out the argument that Tether plays a key role in allowing Iran to conduct transactions that skirt international sanctions.

"Iran's cryptocurrency-based shadow banking network has processed significant volumes of funds and implicates various Iranian interests," the report said, adding that Tether has "repeatedly failed" to block Iran-connected wallets.

"USDT has become a significant financial lifeline within Iran's shadow banking network," the report said.

@legiteum. Do not make the assumption that Gavin Newsom has made the decision because he cares for the people.

I didn't say that nor imply it. I said it was good politics. Newsom cares about what voters think, and right now they don't like Trump or anything that Trump endorses.

The real argument is about the Democrats strike back against the cryptospace and this will certainly not be good for our investments in cryptocoins, including bitcoin!

Bitcoin went up 500% under President Biden. It fell in half under Trump.

Regulations consumers can trust make Bitcoin go up, not down. That way people can buy Bitcoin and not worry that they will get ripped off. When Trump and the Republicans are in power, people will think they will get ripped off since that's what Trump does and endorses.

Democrats on the Senate's Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee's Permanent Subcommittee on Intelligence published a report Monday laying out the argument that Tether plays a key role in allowing Iran to conduct transactions that skirt international sanctions.

So the Republicans are having a pointless war with Iran on one hand--costing our soldiers their lives and the taxpayers billions of dollars--and allowing US companies to prop up the Iranian regime on the other hand. All because Trump makes money from the crypto business.

It would be pretty stupid for the Democrats not to capitalize on this madness....

Not really! I think it's high American citizens quit seeing the next projected politician as the new saviour. They will simply repeat whatever Donald Trump did! Capaitalize on the demands of the people, get them to vote them in and end up impressing and carrying out the plans and projects of their big billionaire donors. Yet another rinse and repeat system.

Should be delusion at its finest to think Democrats would want to end the war with iran. Are they any better?! Infact, this is the only thing that unites both parties. They are fully active when it comes to carrying out agendas and foreign wars for the isreali regime. More stupidity if anyone thinks they are different.

It is immoral to see political office holders profit off their office. The Trump meme coin made the president rich and citizens who invested in that shitcoin lost money. We shouldn't just give this move by California Governor Gavin Newsom a political coloration because it also protects the citizens from being scammed by politicians.

Bitcoin and the crypto industry have survived several governments in the US both Democrats and Republicans. If Newsom becomes president after Trump, Bitcoin will still overcome his attacks.

Should be delusion at its finest to think Democrats would want to end the war with iran.

Trump tore up the deal with Iran that president Obama (Democrat) put into place which created relative stability in the region for a decade. I get that you might just hate American altogether, or perhaps want to "both sides" the problem so you (bravely) don't have to take a firm stance one way or another, but the facts just don't support what you are talking about.

President Biden withdrew the USA from Afghanistan, remember.

Today, the party of more wars is the Republican party, and the party of peace is the Democrats. Maybe that will change in another decade, but that's the situation right now.

Almost everybody in the USA wants to end the war with Iran right now and for us to leave there. Just look at the opinion polls. The only reason we are still there is because Trump himself will feel bad about sending soldiers to die for absolutely no reason like he has already, so he can't face up to what he just did (just like LBJ did for Vietnam). Trump and his party will pay a heave political price for the war in Iran. Any party that wants to end the war will win, and the party that wants to continue it will lose.

Absolutely. The supposedly "anti-crypto" Biden saw Bitcoin go up by 500% during his tenure. Bitcoin needs stability to grow, not Republican-created chaos.

Bitcoiners shouldn't fall for BS coming from brokers like CoinBase, Binance or other "crypto industry" voices who just make money the way a casino does. They aren't for Bitcoin, they are for making money from people trading and speculating.  The hate on guys like Gary Gensler, for instance, is from the crypto brokers who want less oversight, not Bitcoiners.

And calling for less oversight is stupid since all it does is make average consumers more afraid of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a decentralized global currency. Relating the rise of Bitcoin to a country or political party is not ideal. Bitcoin's rise during Biden's presidency might be due to other factors, not just his policies.

I am in support of regulation of centralized crypto platforms. Most of them are established to make money from people. However, people should be free to use Bitcoin and other decentralized coins without restrictions. Biden made some laws that criminalized privacy services like mixers, calling them a major money-laundering source with the potential to threaten national security.

His government also proposed the development of a central bank digital currency, which is a drive towards centralization.

A lot of us were hoping Trump would bring a breath of fresh air to crypto and propel market higher. But in the end, what he did showed us that we probably should not put too much faith in any president or politician. They can make all kind of promises but when it come down to it, they still put their own agenda and interests first.

To be fair, whoever takes office wont make much of difference anyway. Bitcoin and crypto get pushed around by whole bunch of factor, not just whoever president or whatever policy they push.
