However, I am not arguing about politics. The real argument is about the Democrats strike back against the cryptospace and this will certainly not be good for our investments in cryptocoins, including bitcoin! Similar to what is being implied in this article, the Democrats and their supporters the liberal transformers will make it appear that the cryptospace is evil.

I reckon, the real reason why they are doing this is because the owners of big banks want all control over currency, including the illegal transactions similar to moneylaundering hehehehehee. They do not want competition!

It is immoral to see political office holders profit off their office. The Trump meme coin made the president rich and citizens who invested in that shitcoin lost money. We shouldn't just give this move by California Governor Gavin Newsom a political coloration because it also protects the citizens from being scammed by politicians.

Bitcoin and the crypto industry have survived several governments in the US both Democrats and Republicans. If Newsom becomes president after Trump, Bitcoin will still overcome his attacks.
I am glad that people are beginning to see that the political office holders did the crypto community dirty by pretending to be fully involved in crypto just to gain support from the crypto community. The first mistake we made was accepting everything Trump said during his campaign period and making him feel so important to the community. The after results was seen in him introducing his own meme coin which left him profitable and many others in losses.

It is high time we separate crypto, especially Bitcoin from politics. Bitcoin is decentralized, it is not and will never be a property of or a tool of either the Republicans or the Democrats to win elections. Truly, Bitcoin has continued to be successful under different administrations, both the harsh and favorable administrations and it survived. I personally do not have any expectation of Gavin.

It will truly do us good if we stop giving relevance to individual politicians concerning Bitcoin. Bitcoin will still survive without all of these political chaos.

Absolutely. The supposedly "anti-crypto" Biden saw Bitcoin go up by 500% during his tenure. Bitcoin needs stability to grow, not Republican-created chaos.

Bitcoiners shouldn't fall for BS coming from brokers like CoinBase, Binance or other "crypto industry" voices who just make money the way a casino does. They aren't for Bitcoin, they are for making money from people trading and speculating.  The hate on guys like Gary Gensler, for instance, is from the crypto brokers who want less oversight, not Bitcoiners.

And calling for less oversight is stupid since all it does is make average consumers more afraid of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a decentralized global currency. Relating the rise of Bitcoin to a country or political party is not ideal. Bitcoin's rise during Biden's presidency might be due to other factors, not just his policies.

Like it or not, the crypto community has brought US politics in to Bitcoin and crypto in general. The crypto industry is now the biggest lobby in the US, bigger than Big Oil, Big Pharmaceutical, and everything else. The price of BTC rises and falls with the whims of Trump and his party and the machinations of the US Congress. There is a constant push from Bitcoin whales (with millions in campaign contributions) to get the US government to use taxpayer money to buy Bitcoin in order to pump the price, or pass a law forcing every business in the USA to accept Bitcoin whether they want to or not (i.e. "legal tender laws"). The Bitcoin and crypto community has demonstrated that it is no longer "anti-government", in fact it's made itself dependent on the government.

Quote
I am in support of regulation of centralized crypto platforms. Most of them are established to make money from people. However, people should be free to use Bitcoin and other decentralized coins without restrictions. Biden made some laws that criminalized privacy services like mixers, calling them a major money-laundering source with the potential to threaten national security.

His government also proposed the development of a central bank digital currency, which is a drive towards centralization.

Biden never proposed a CBDC. The Democrats never proposed a CBDC besides some vague thoughts about "looking at it" many years ago. Congress has never mentioned a CBDC except for one proposed bill that would actively prevent the study of a CBDC by the US government (which, to be clear, is a stupid political stunt, not serious).

Republicans use the word, "CBDC" as a boogeyman (and oh look, it works!), but it's never going to happen since no US voter wants to happen and it wouldn't benefit anybody. The private sector has perfectly good products, e.g. stablecoins, that do the job a CBDC would do.

As for mixers and things like Monero, Biden didn't put those laws in place, Trump did in his first term (or maybe even before that). And now that Trump and the Republicans completely control the US government, they haven't changed anything.  Given the usage for these things, it's doubtful than any US administration will make these things legal.

To be fair, whoever takes office wont make much of difference anyway. Bitcoin and crypto get pushed around by whole bunch of factor, not just whoever president or whatever policy they push.

I don't think a president or a political party in the USA can move BTC up that much, but it can certainly tear it down. If Trump ever figured out that he could make a lot of money by screwing up Bitcoin, then he'd screw up Bitcoin--and there wouldn't be a thing any of us could do about it.

It is high time we separate crypto, especially Bitcoin from politics.

Yep, sorry, it's too late. In the 2024 US election cycle the Bitcoin community focused entirely on number-go-up and saw the US government's power as the way to make that happen. Now crypto is the #1 business lobby in the United States. You might as well get used to this since it's only going to get more extreme.

Yea, it seems now like it is impossible, but somehow, Bitcoiners, instead of acting helpless, can still consciously try not to attach importance to what politicians say. It will take a different look if a pro-Bitcoin candidate loses an election after all is said and done. Any other candidate coming afterwards will realise that Bitcoiners are now wise. I am not really confident that Bitcoiners will be able to pull this through seeing that many attach emotions  to almost everything they do. If it doesn't work out as I imagine it, then I and every other person concerned about this situation will just get used to it.

Decentralized or not, does not really matter tbh. Once Bitcoin is part of the financial market and depends on capital flows and the economy. It is pretty hard to completely separate it from politics.

Politics touches every corner of the economy, and bitcoin is just one piece of that system.
Geopolitics, macroeconomics, and even regulations are things we can't really avoid, whether we like it or not. Its inevitable, just matter of when.

I don't know what went wrong with sudden interest of political interest on Bitcoin. If you read through this forum, the old posts are always ways to preserve privacy and avoid government as possible, it almost like Bitcoin and the governments are enemy that doesn't sit on the same table but politicians want interest in Bitcoin so they can win election but they don't want to give back to Bitcoin by making implementations that will make Bitcoin as legal assets.

Since this Bitcoin interest started, no person in parliament, senate or congress have said anything about it, the only motion we have seen is crypto act and it has been suspended, I don't know if there is anything that this people will bring. At the end of the day, they will just be twisting the story for Bitcoiners to have their ways to get vote from people without doing the right thing.

Yep, and one thing politics loves is money, and the best kind of money is the kind crypto gives them: dark money.

At the end of the day, they will just be twisting the story for Bitcoiners to have their ways to get vote from people without doing the right thing.

Three words: Number. Go. Up.

The community very quickly switched to prioritizing Bitcoin's price appreciation over absolutely everything else.

And money Trump's "communities" every single time. Heck, how do we know that half of the accounts here aren't just agents for the Bitcoin whales? We don't, but it would make perfect sense for a Bitcoin billionaire to spend 10 or 20 million a year on online influence just to get the price of BTC up--their ROI would be 1000% every time.

Yes, politics has a way of changing and reversing itself, and it very well might happen with Bitcoin, but the whales will have dumped everything before that happens...

Bitcoin is already part of the financial market. All thanks to government's approval of spot ETFs. "Wall Street" can now manipulate market prices, big time. Institutions and governments are trying to amass as much of the circulating supply in a bid to control the flow of BTC. You can't buy/sell BTC if these entities hold all of the cards.

Trump used to be against Bitcoin, but now he's going all in. Same goes for Saylor. Hopefully, Bitcoin's popularity changes Democrats' minds. The revolution simply can't be ignored.

Personally I don't think Democrats hate Bitcoin or crypto. They just have not seen it as a priority or as kind of political and economic opportunity the Republicans do. As the space matures, I think they'll take another look.

What worries me, tho , is how deep the divide between the two parties has gotten. The Democrats could end up openly opposing crypto simply because  it's become part of the Republican agenda.

I reckon that if this is a game of poker, the Democrats are certainly showing their cards. They will start their crackdown on Tether and who knows where their probe will bring them.

In any case, this is only the beginning of the Democrats strike back! The climax for this will be when their emperor has been declared and sits on the throne on 2029!

Top Democrat among Senate investigators probes ties between Cantor Fitzgerald, Tether

The top Democrat on the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, Richard Blumenthal, is demanding answers about the ties between Cantor Fitzgerald and the worldwide leader in stablecoins, Tether. If Democratic momentum continues into the November election, he and his colleagues may soon have more authority behind such probes.

Blumenthal sent a letter Thursday to Cantor's CEO, Brandon Lutnick, the son of President Donald Trump's Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, who handed the company reins to his son when he joined the administration. Blumenthal has been scrutinizing Tether's role in Iran's financial system, and he flagged the lucrative business connection between the issuer of USDT and the firm that handles its U.S. reserves, Cantor.

The Democrats are creating a storyline that the cryptospace is equal to the corrupt Donald Trump and his corrupt procrypto administration which might imply that the Democrats are declaring that in order to be a clean politician then this politician should not support the cryptospace.

This is clearly not the truth, however, this is the storyline they will push and the headshaking occurrence is many people who are not in the cryptospace community will believe the anticrypto Democrats!

Crypto is finally being talked about in U.S. political campaigns, but it's certainly not in a light that the industry would choose.

Though digital assets advocates have long referenced a grassroots uprising of crypto-focused voters that can swing elections, the industry's own massive campaign spending has carefully decided against even mentioning the financial technology in the ads it buys for favored candidates. But crypto is having a moment in the midterms, anyway, as the sector's critics paint its political involvement as a venal influence on congressional campaigning.

A number of Democratic candidates have raised crypto as a black mark to suggest improper corporate sway over their political adversaries and more generally as a factor in corruption accusations against President Donald Trump and his administration. In this environment, in which voters are now weighing government corruption as a top political concern, it may carry consequential weight.

The Democrats are creating a storyline that the cryptospace is equal to the corrupt Donald Trump [...]

The Democrats didn't create that, the crypto industry did by putting over $1 billion into getting Trump and Republicans elected.

This amounts to a billion dollar ad campaign that tells American consumers:

CRYPTO = TRUMP

Quote
[...] the anticrypto Democrats!

Bitcoin went up 500% under President Biden, who was a Democrat.

Live by the sword, die by the sword, as they say. The crypto industry and the Bitcoin community decided to get into US politics a few years ago and help Donald Trump become president of the USA. Now Bitcoin and crypto owns every bad thing about Trump and Republicans, including:

  • Pointless, idiotic tariffs that make prices go up and hurts our economy.
  • Pointless, heartless crackdowns on immigrants (and anybody who looks like one) that makes prices go up and hurts our economy..
  • Crackdowns on people's personal freedoms e.g. criminalizing abortion.
  • Bringing back Measles.
  • A pointless, idiotic war with Iran that has made prices go up, has killed our soldiers, and makes our country weaker and has strengthened our enemies.

Yes, Bitcoin/crypto people are going to say, "but, but... I just wanted Number Go Up!". Well, too bad. That's not how it works. You back a politician and a political party--and become the #1 industry lobby in the USA while doing it--then you own the results.

@legiteum. The Donald was also president during 2017, when he was officially inaugurated, to 2021 after he stepped down. Bitcoin pumped more than 1000%! I reckon it might be more than 3000%!

The Donald was also very anticrypto during this presidency. Does this imply that if the president is more anticrypto, the more bitcoin will pump? This will be a very welcome occurrence when Gavin Newsom will become the next president hehehehehehehehe!

Anti-crypto broker maybe--if the broker wants to rip you off.

One thing that the "free market" people don't understand is that a regulated market is a safe market to invest in, and a safe market to invest in gets... 100x more investment than the "wild west" bullshit where you can get ripped off at every turn.

And when there's 100x more investment, then yes, BTC pumps. Everything does.

We don't need the government to secure a decentralized financial system. Bitcoin is not all about making a profit but freedom. I don't think some people will want Bitcoin to become another financial tool in the hands of the government for more profit.

Bitcoin has survived many governments, be it Republican or Democrat. Bitcoin experienced the highest price increase during the first term of Donald Trump (from under $900 to nearly $8,500). So I don't think Democrats favour Bitcoin growth like you always depict.

Tbh, its hard to tell if people really think that way.
Sure, if you asked them. they would not think twice before saying they do not want Bitcoin to become just another financial tool in government's hand. They'd say they are willing to settle for lower returns to protect its decentralized nature. But talk is cheap. Whether they'd actually make that choice when push comes to shove is another story.

People keep arguing over which party or president would be better for Bitcoin, while missing the bigger picture. Bitcoin has been around for 18 years and has gone up millions of times, regardless of who's been in the White House.

The Bitcoin network itself works just fine (and absolutely nobody is talking about regulating it), but the onramps and off-ramps to USD are the question here--and the source of the massive election contributions to pump Trump and his party.

Because indeed the party can have influence in the US, it makes crypto increasingly regulated, whether for better or worse, even though Bitcoin can always endure in any weather. This means that if the party supports real regulations on Bitcoin, then the goal of Bitcoin being adopted can happen faster, and vice versa. On that basis, we often hope that pro-crypto parties will have strong dominance in parliament, thereby providing a positive effect on the development of crypto. The Clarity Act failed, and it will take a long time to resubmit. This is one example of how parliament can control a new policy. As a result, crypto can grow under regulation sooner or later.

Yes, this is what the Donald's administration is trying to do, however, the anticrypto Democrats want the cryptospace to be illegal because the anticrypto Democrats are protecting the big banks of their masters heheheheh. They do not want the competition that will arrive from the cryptospace.

This is certainly why after the next presidential elections in America, the Democrats strike back with Gavin Newsom as the emperor Palpatine and I predict uncle Gary will be Darth Vader!

Yes, this is what the Donald's administration is trying to do, [...]

No, it wasn't. Trump pardons criminals who pay him enough and enriches himself exclusively. Most Americans--even the ones who vote for Trump--don't trust Trump. They know he will rip you off the first chance he gets. They know the US government is corrupt under Trump, and large donors like the crypto industry are writing laws that benefit themselves and screw over the average investor.

Hence Americans are, rightfully, very nervous about investing in crypto.

Quote
[...[ however, the anticrypto Democrats want the cryptospace to be illegal [...]

Bitcoin went up 500% under president Biden. The Bitcoin ETFs were launched under president Biden. Thousands of new crypto companies were created under president Biden.

Then Trump took office and Bitcoin fell in half.

(I'm beginning to see that crypto people who want Trump to win aren't doing it for Bitcoin reasons, it's because of their ideological affinity to Trump. No matter how good the Democrats are for crypto and how bad the Republicans are, it doesn't matter, all roads lead to Trump  Cheesy ).

However, bitcoin pumped more than 3000% under the first term of the Donald. I do not know what is your argument because what I have said is that the Democrats will strike back against the Republicans, against the cryptospace and much of the DeFi projects and companies in the cryptospace. They will leave the rule and regulations to be unclear so they can use their favorite tactic. Regulation through enforcement hheheeheh.
