I remember when I was in middle school, we used to play cards almost every day, and our stupidity reached the point where we would skip classes while we were inside school. The method of playing was easy, as the largest number was the winning card. So, some of my friends and I would gather in the middle school bathroom and make bets with the money that we had collected  from selling cigarettes.
Of course, this is not something I am proud of and I do not recommend it to everyone, but it's just childhood memories .

Less of betting at the wrong place and wrong time but more of betting risky and somewhat stupidly. Used to frequent bustabit a few years ago and would be on there often. Once you've gotten a taste, it's really hard to get out of betting games since they're so accessible. I think I ended up net positive, but it took me a while to get out of the addiction. I also bet on some pretty risky basketball games, particularly the GSW vs OKC basketball game in 2016. Was looking super down but somehow the GSW ended up coming back and winning the game in OT, definitely lost some hair off my head with that game. I guess looking back, it forced me to sit down and watch probably the most interesting game of basketball from the last few years, so I can't stay too mad, and as a plus, I ended up winning on that game too.

I think what you said about the memories is interesting, I think betting has definitely led to strong emotion and memorable times.

Yes, we were both stupid at that time, the bk room was our usual place, and both teachers and our friends knew us not because of the intelligence we had or the achievements we achieved, but they could know us because of our naughtiness. which we often do. Skipping school hours, climbing the fence and leaving the school area are things we often do. And this is really stupid because we waste valuable study time just playing cards with friends. Or just spend the pocket money we have to make small bets. We continued to commit mischief after mischief, until we received a warning letter and endured the shame of having our parents called to school to take responsibility for the mischief we committed.

This is not something to be proud of, and if I look back on that incident, perhaps this is one of the deepest regrets I have ever felt.

I do not know if this counts as betting at the wrong place and the wrong time but I am going to share. I remember being under a lot of pressure to deliver on a work project whose deadline was fast approaching. I was stuck and one night I couldn't sleep. It was late and rather than work on the project, I logged into one of the online casinos and just gambled. I didn't care whether I won or lost, I just need to not think about project because of the pressure it was causing me. Surprisingly, went to work the next day and my boss said the project in one hold as one of he clients bailed out. Such relieve for me. I bet at the wrong time even when I knew I should have been working on the project.

I don't remember doing anything like that to be honest, kind of disciplined kid in the school days and then as well, I only used to bet on fantasy that's kind of crooked game still I went to bet because the amount is too good to be true if I actual tops the table and that's happened a couple of times that I consider still a crazy decision.

I've done this on my high school days but we don't skip classes and we only do it during our free time and when we've got nothing to do. Well, we were young during that time but as well as we're disciplined too. We don't want to meddle it with our grades in our schools or else it will be affected and our parents are going to see that impact and will go to our school and will ask our teachers and classmates why we'll have that grade. So, with that fear, fortunately that we've maintained our grades but it's not really a good influence to do that while we were young because it is not our money that we're gambling with.

But it is the money of our parents that are given to us and yet, we're going to use it for something such as gambling and we won't be able to avail our foods if we ever do that. That's why I hope that it won't be the same as this time I am now a parent and I'd like to think of it as a good memory that I have been with because life during that time was so chill and there's no need to rush to anything as if the environment and ambiance of things weren't really stressful at all.

Yes the school period is a period of adolescence where we sometimes do silly or even stupid things and can harm or harm ourselves, but I think it's natural because adolescence is a period where we are very curious about the various new things we find, and from what I saw about your childhood story while still in school I think playing ordinary games involving money in it is a mindset that should be owned by a child who is still in his teens or adolescence who is still quite childish, I have never found some of my friends when I was in school who played card games or others involving money in it, we never thought in that direction because what we prioritized from the game was nothing more than temporary entertainment and fun in the middle of recess when the lesson hours had not yet begun, and it seems that I am quite curious about you about where you can think of involving money in a game that in general is usually more often done just to fill spare time to find excitement by children your age at that time.

We've all done stupid things when we were kids. The kids today are still doing these crazy bets, skipping classes, and probably worse than what we have done before. The technology they know is more advanced than what we have.

There was a report in the local newspaper that the kids betting on the Fortnite game they play. One kid had to steal his mother's purse, which in the report was her wedding ring inside the purse was pawned so the kid could keep playing.

Practically, every growing child in Africa was once a subject to this kind of fun.. "I remember leaving the school premises entirely with a handful of classmates, cruising in our favorite horizon which was another abandoned school field -- cleanly dressed in our improvised school uniforms with a clean handkerchief evenly strapped to our waistband.. we strictly selected the cleanest sets of students to our crew -- that was also based on recommendation"... I also knew some set of students that'd go ahead to change their wears, just to look like baddies after school.

You just reminded me of my school days in the university. I do gamble with cards to meet my needs in school. In my lodge are filled with student who love gambling so much. The craziest part is that i quit going to lectures, what i do is that the money i make from betting in cards i used some to settle some things i did not do in school while i use the rest to bet more throughout the day.

Another crazy thing i did again, was when i used my tuition fee given to me by my parents to gamble. I gambled till it remained 20% of the money. I saw that there is no use for that money again so i went all in with that amount and funny enough i won. Things we did when growing up is crazy you know!

Each country has a different school system and you can be expelled for doing one thing, but in another country the same thing will only get you a warning. A great example of such differences is the attitude towards cheating on tests. In my school if you were caught you'd only fail the test, but in many schools in the US it's a serious offense.
We did all the stupid things in school. People would of course smoke, but they'd run out during a break and smoke outside, often in freezing temperatures, catching a cold.
When it comes to gambling we'd bet a lot, but it used to be very simple, like betting on the outcome of the test, or whether we'd get a test or a certain question on the test. Whoever was right would get the money. We'd also play poker at school using real coins that had very low value, so the winner was able to buy a can of soda, or a doughnut

You just reminded me of my old memory, which led to the last beating I received from my dad during my childhood.
 
My dad has a small provision shop close to our community play ground, and most of the time my friends come to visit me in my dad's shop, and we can stay and play around. My parents don't allow me to go very far from the shop so that they can keep an eye on me. I also help them overlook how things are going in the shop.

One faithful day, which was the day I made one of the worst mistakes as a child, since we were playing and my dad left the shop for only me to oversee, I decided to get one card from the shop so that we could use it to keep ourselves busy.
 
We were playing the game, and I got carried away. There was a little cash in my hand, which I forgot to drop on our cash carton after the last sale I did. I didn't know when my dad walked in and saw all of us gathered at a place playing card games.
 
He asked the other children to leave and then turned to me with a disappointed face and said that he left me in the shop instead of asking me to do what he asked me to do. I decided to use his money to gamble at my age. All the explanations that I was given at that moment were all a waste, as I ended up receiving a beating, and he warned me never to see me with those sets of friends again.

Memories are hard to forget of skipping school just because of betting.

This did not become a habit because when I was in school, I was still a disciplinarian. hahaha
I felt like a nerd at the time but got carried away by my friends, but the most common thing to do was to smoke.

But the most stupid bet is pocket money to bet all these card games that started with nothing until the point where there is boredom then money is used then the sensation is even more different. And I don't want to tell this to anyone except here.

Well during the school days there were clusters of students in secluded places and yes they gambled in cards, dice and they did all manner of things that were red flag in school but whether I took part in such manner of gambling, I didn't myself but maybe guys that were close to me participated but definitely there were hidden places that appeared gambling spots. A lot of funny things that was done in high school but I wouldn't like to mention them. I did the crazy thing when I was much younger, I was sent on an errand by my mom before she left the house for shopping. On my way to get the stuffs, I came across my friend, and we decided to go gamble on play station Konami soccer game.


We started gambling on little amount though, a. D we were enjoying the fun to the extend that I forget that I was suppose to get those stuffs for my mom. The funny thing is that we gambled till it was dark. It was when I lost all the funds on me that I remembered that I was sent on an errand, and when I came out from the place it was night, I got confused and went back home because the person I need those stuffs from must have closed for the day.

My school had students who engaged in similar acts like you but I never joined them when I was still in school environment or still in my school uniform because I was among the few that was being used as an example to other students about how they should behave.

But when I'm not in school I play similar card games with my friends but the only difference is that we don't bet anything and also don't sell drugs or cigarettes - ours was purely for fun.

The only time I can still recall engaging in gambling at the wrong time was when I logged into my account during a boring meeting to play some casino games. Aside from that I dont think I have done any other bettingthat I'd consider “wrong time, wrong place” betting.

I suppose that anyone that has gambled on their youth has some memories of dumb stuff they did back in the day, in my case poker was just starting to get popular and I really liked the math aspect of it, as compared to other games the fact that your skill mattered was something that made it completely different to me, so there were times in which my friends and other peers played poker for hours, even before an upcoming test, and even if I still passed, there is no doubt that was a dumb decision.

First time hearing op said their stupidity. However, you are so lucky to realize your mistakes and were addictions is bringing you to. But it's bad as a student to gamble while school time. Even when you are not gambling with money time will come when you will start betting with money and as you have started at your early age it would be very difficult to quit.
Funny aspect of addiction and gamblers is they don't always agree that they are addicted to gamble. You see, now from using the money made from cigarettes to gamble one day you might sell property and use the money to gamble, that's how additcions start.

Something similar to you OP, just a bit better though. Heck I think the worst idea we've had as friends was playing in the middle of the class. We were plenty known to the faculty staff to be that little group that plays cards all the time so whenever the teacher rolls down the hallway, they know to always check our classrooms to see whether we're playing or not. We've had like a dozen or two deck of cards that were confiscated due to that lmao.

After those instances though I've completely swapped to online gambling. A few instances of playing together with new friends in college, but nothing too crazy happened there.
