Well it is true that it depends on how the environment makes a person fall into and get involved in gambling and after that for the problem of addiction I think it depends on how their initial steps are familiar with gambling itself, If for example from the beginning they see and assess gambling from various sides to find out the positive and negative impacts based on a rational mindset then I think it is less likely that they will end up with addiction because obviously when someone assesses gambling with a rational point of view then surely they will think that it is an activity that is too dangerous to be made as a place to produce because of the significant adverse effects and most likely they will prioritize various preventive measures.

The goal of most people gambling is indeed to get a win to improve their financial situation. But with this kind of gambling goal, it will usually become a problem when the gambling they do ends in disappointment. Yeah, it is absolutely a good thing to set limit to what or how much money we spend on gambling on weekly basis, but this is also for those who earn on daily or weekly basis, those who earn monthly should set out an amount of money they take out from their salary on monthly basis which is channeled towards their gambling escapade, if anyone can do this and discipline themselves hard enough to not stop on the way, then such one (we can say), will possibly do very well in life generally, not just in the area of gambling.

It's really depend on the person, I believe every human can't feel enough and always looking more, neither poor or millionaires will still looking to make money. Someone become poor because they can't manage their money, that's why they always become poor.

While the real millionaires know how to manage money, so they only gamble for fun, they might gamble to make friends to create business. While the fake millionaires i.e. someone who get inheritance or win lottery, will end up become poor due to can't manage money.

Yes, not all new gamblers become addicted to gambling. You can't easily protect the environmental days many are addicted to.  If 30 out of 50 members of a place gamble and enjoy gambling and a new gambler starts there, he will become addicted to gambling while living with that environment. but if someone gambles as a hobby or gambles in their free time for fun, they can be saved from becoming addicted to gambling by informing them about the negative aspects of gambling. Addiction is a tricky thign at times they never know they are addicted until its already too late, just like someone who starts smoking or drinking, at times it could take do long for some to get addicted and others lesser.

That's why it's a bad idea to help them because at the end of the day, you're forcing them to do something that they don't want to do and it's up to how individuals do it as you say, how they can deal with it, the help that you can do isn't a lot since the will to not get addicted will always be up to the person. This is the biggest reason why they get addicted despite knowing everything about gambling and how much one can win or lose if they are involved in gambling. Yes it seems reasonable, let's go back to remembering about the difficulty of overcoming the problem of gambling addiction or it means that it is difficult to recover or cure someone from gambling addiction and one of the reasons is because they are still in a high level of belief and hope in the big winnings that exist in gambling, so even though they always end the session with a bad situation and regret but still in the end they always return to gambling with high belief and hope along with the desperation and feelings of revenge, which means gambling addiction can be easy or difficult to overcome, depending on the individual himself.

Exposure to negative effects of gambling might also help us distance ourselves from getting addicted to gambling itself. It's all psychological I think. The better our understanding on losses and our status as a gambler and as per experiences with other gamblers around that had ended their gambling journey so badly might I think taught us or our friends lessons to be a responsible gambler. The only problem here is that sometimes they are hardheaded and they still don't take our advices so it's not our problem anymore as long as we do our part to warn them about a possibility of them getting liquidated or even broke.
