A lot of social media influencers especially vloggers and YouTubers are promoting gambling usually at the end of their vlogs or videos.
I could see a huge contribution and spread of information that they made especially during this time where the majority are using smartphones already. In fact, we've been seeing a massive increase in gamblers and online gambling sites. But how this could affect the mindset of the kids when they are also seeing these ads/promotions from the social media influencers they followed? I could be wrong but this has a mental effect on them and at a very young age, they are exposed to gambling already which is supposedly not the right time.

I think these influencers must know their target audience before accepting the offer or should not be included in their vlogs or videos?

....

I think these influencers must know their target audience before accepting the offer or should not be included in their blogs or videos?

they just don't care about it, because the most important thing for them is how they can make money from the promotion. they don't care who their audience is and who they get the money from or what brand they promote, the important thing is that they can get money and that's enough for them.

if we say they don't care about this, that's not true, but it's just that most of these influencers are stupid, so they don't know what they are doing, promoting something that is very vulnerable to children.

This is common in my country. They do not care than the money the gambling site they are advertising for will pay them.

YouTube is not better but there are local channels in my country that you will see gambling site advertising which is worse.

Recently I was passing through the bank road in my town, I saw a sign board of 1xbet. Did you know how many under age that would have seen it. The problem goes to government negligence.

Unfortunately, only intentional parenting can protect kids from the negative effects of gambling ads on the minds of minors. The government cannot help and no bill can be passed in that regards. Parents should have regular conversations with their kids. It is during these conversations that they'll know what their kids have been up to. Parents should monitor their kids social media activities and if possible block all gambling ads/promotions on their mobile phones.

Influencers do not care. They are after the money, after their commission fees. And their target audience is anyone with a smart phone and internet access.

I don't think they have a real interest in their target audience. whether they are young or old. The important thing is to receive views/visits and advertise.

In some countries such as Italy, this type of activity is absolutely illegal considering that it involves hidden advertising often abusive.
And gambling promotion here is illegal!
I think its correct that this type of activities are prohibited or at least that must be regulated in some way...

I was exposed to gambling when I was around 14-15 years old and it didn't affect me at all. Back in the day, social media wasn't a thing, but I used to read books about playing poker and blackjack. I didn't visit an offline casino back then and I have never gambled in my teenage years.
I can assume that most kids/teenagers won't be heavily impacted by all this gambling content on social media. Maybe some of them will try to gamble, but who is going to give them money? Their parents? Grin The teens should find a job in order to get money for gambling, I see this as a win. Starting to work at a younger age is way better than doing nothing and watching your phone all day.
Maybe all the social media platforms should impose strict regulations about gambling sponsorships and advertisements.

IMO, there should be the right platform for it. There are kids on social media not because they want entertainment but because some schools now require the parents to have one so that they can be updated and there are times kids must also use it to send their homework when school is on asynchronous online learning due to different reasons like the pandemic and right now the heat in Asia which could affect the students.
Now, if kids do learn how to maneuver the social media application, it also means they can bump into those videos with gambling advertisements in the end. As of now, I am not letting my kids have any account on any social media because of those reasons, and not just gambling but also some pornography that can damage their character growing up.
But how about those kids that are allowed to use their smartphones due to school requirements? I bet they have already seen those streamers with gambling ads in the end.

They'd definitely be influenced, but I reckon it's a lot better than most of the dumbshit that people show on Social Media (I'm looking at you Tiktok). At least, money is the thing involved, most of which isn't accessible to the younger audience.

Afaik though there are restrictions when it comes to gambling-related stuff anyway? So at a certain audience level, I highly doubt we'd see kids seeing gambling promotions. They'd probably have to be at idk, 16 and above age maybe? There's some that can get through though since the system isn't exactly perfect but I highly doubt we can persuade those who make these promotions to limit the people who can see it. They don't give a crap about it in the first place since they just want money imo.

For money they are ready to promote almost anything.

I could see a huge contribution and spread of information that they made especially during this time where the majority are using smartphones already. In fact, we've been seeing a massive increase in gamblers and online gambling sites.
This is due to advertising and the low barrier to entry into this entertainment industry due to the availability of smartphones for everyone.

But how this could affect the mindset of the kids when they are also seeing these ads/promotions from the social media influencers they followed? I could be wrong but this has a mental effect on them and at a very young age, they are exposed to gambling already which is supposedly not the right time.
Do you want to protect children from the negative impact of social media influencer promotions? Then just deprive them of their smartphones. Smiley There seem to be no other ways, because one way or another they will end up on the Internet in the zone of influence of gambling advertising and the illusion of the availability of big money in casinos.

I think these influencers must know their target audience before accepting the offer or should not be included in their blogs or videos?
I think that the degree to which influencers are “saleful” will depend only on their personal internal morality. Do you want to persuade them not to advertise (lose income) gambling and casinos? I will be happy to see how you do it (manage to influence). Smiley

We are in a world where everyone wants to make money and no body cares of the negative effect it will cause to other people out there. Although most of this advert usually comes with caution that only parmits 18years+ which means viewers under the age of 18 years are not allowed to participate. But that doesn't stops or change anything because underaged persons see that caution as not useful and outdated, because even underaged youths watch pornography online despite is marked 18+ but as the case may be, the world is gradually changing. So everyone is doing what pleases them. Even if social media influencers promote gambling in other hidden platforms you will still see underaged people there because social media is now filled with underaged persons. In my own sudjestion there nothing wrong in advertising gambling on social media, it depends on how the person who petronises it used it.

It's just like in a market, people sell different things both good, bad and ugly thing. anything you buy in the market is determined by what you want to use it for, or how you used them. promoting gambling in social media is not bad but it depends on how people took the gambling to another extent till they become addicted.

That's strange, are you saying that kids intentionally follow influencers that are into gambling? Influencers are different from influencers as not all of them are into gambling but what could make kids follow such people? I find this strange.

Anyways, it's left for parents to be there before the kids are exposed to such things, we can't always believe that our kids are safe because we don't know what they will find on the internet tomorrow.

It is better to tell the kids about gambling before they know gambling by themselves, tell them the reality of influencers as well, they are the safest people online because they aren't throwing money into anything, there jobs is to tell the world about a casino since they have a lot of followers and they will get paid.

I think these influencers must know their target audience before accepting the offer or should not be included in their blogs or videos?
Social media influencers are going to accept any influencing gig given to them as long as it pays the bills. Only social media influencers with strong moral principles and ethics that would reject some gigs. Even if they have to advertise sports betting and gambling they should be aware the  people who follow them and can be easily influenced to tell them strongly that gambling is not for kids because of how addictive it is. They owe those them this responsibility and to be completely honest with them. On the other hand when we see such adverts we should play our own part and tell them in our comments that gambling is not for the underaged.

Even they know the target audience, how they can able to limit kids that watching to their videos? no way.

This problem is caused by money.

The parents didn't learn parenting skills, so they don't know whether they should allow their kids to use cellphone or not. Even they know it's not good to let their kids to use cellphone, they can't really control their kids due to lack of time. Lack of time caused by they need to work in order to earn money.

You're not wrong mate.
The importance of social media influence on gambling can never be overemphasized. But as we already know, whatever that has an advantage also has a disadvantage. While the media is successfully making gambling more popular than it already was through media ads and promotions, children are also seeing them and this could have a negative impact on them.

Children as we know can be quite inquisitive and always has the urge to try new things, especially things that are off their limits. Now children has access to smart devices like phones, computer, tablets and other gadgets that can allow them access these sites. And now we have gambling sites that dont require kyc to get registered. They can easily get hold of these sites and start gambling.

Gambling at a very young age like that could have lots of psychological and mental effects on children, considering the fact that gambling can be really addictive.
When these influencers do these ads, they forget to also talk about the negative aspect of gambling, they make gambling appear to be a one way ticket to maximizing profit without pointing out the risk of losses too.

It's now our responsibilities to teach our kids when we notice they're suddenly developing interest in gambling. We ought to teach them and enlighten them about the risks associated with gambling.

Influencers have nothing to worry about because at the end of the day, they're counting their profits and becomes dependable for the system. I know how complicated it can be for those of us that's yet to stick to profits, Influencers accepts the terms involved, for those desperate bloggers, as long as they're making money, they don't care about the impact on gambling to their viewers. They're up and ready to provide ads and stipulates the ratio and popularity of gambling.

That is the more reason why gambling shouldn't be hidden from the young ones and most people basically practice anything they see online more especially when they come from celebrities or influencers that is the reason why people need to educate their children with proper knowledge of the things happening around them so that when they hear it outside, they won't be misled or misinformed.

I have noticed many times, that influencers rarely care about what they advertise. With gambling the situation is really scary, as with a wish to get as many referrals as possible, they are ready to do everything. I think you have heart about such gambling addicted person/influencer as Mellstroy ? Just look at what he does on his stream, what he spends money on and how popular he is. This is terrible what he teaches young kids. And social media, with all its hype, only make him more popular. I would say that social media is mostly a plague and a lot what we see in it must be filtered.

I think gambling based content is free for all on youtube and not flagged as 18+ and this indeed has a bad impact on the less than 18yr old population including all other sites that are doing the same.

Those who have been taught from their childhood the importance of saving and the control of spending will face less problems after seeing such content but those who have been kept away from these ideas and did not get enough pocket money at times to spend, will easily get into the world of gambling. Addictions are easy to acquire and difficult to get rid of, hence as parents we should teach the kids about money and allow them some money to spend with a challenge to save more than spend every month. Such exercises can help avoid gambling addiction and in the broader perspective compulsive spending.

Advertisements or videos from YouTube or other social media really influence the mindset of children who cannot yet control themselves. They tend to try something like what they have seen because they want to know what will happen with it.
They don't think about the impact of gambling if they gamble continuously because they just want to gamble without thinking much. This causes many children to be exposed to gambling at their age, making it difficult for parents to tell them what the consequences of gambling are and the impacts if they gamble for a long time.
Not many influencers think about their target audience because their goal is to make money from their videos. As long as they can still get lots of visits to their videos and can still make money, they will continue like that without thinking about the consequences their visitors will receive.

This is true. But what about those betting shops also that have offices all around the town that young people can easily notice. If gambling advertisement is not regulated, there are more ways now that children can easily be exposed to gambling ads. In the world we are, we need to educate our children which is what that is best because they can not avoid gambling ads. I do not know of countries like US and EU but in Africa and Asia, the government of many countries in those later continents do not do anything against gambling ads. Children education concerning gambling is very important. How it is risky needs to be known by the children and teenagers.
