I've watched him play for his club and have equally watched a lot of his performance for the super eagles and the truth is that he under performs when he's playing for the super eagles. Maybe he's not too used to playing with the kind of midfielders we have at supper eagles or he's probably just having a rough time when it comes to playing national football. I don't think anyone is expecting him to perform like Jay Jay but watching Iwobi play for Super Eagle is actually annoying. I disagree with you on that part. We do have options in the midfield, the other players who should take the position are just not being given the chance. When next we are scouting for midfielders or players in any position, the sporting directors should first consider the best players in the top five teams in the Nigerian premier league. These players have no name and will give everything to be recognized on the center stage. A player who’s won the champions league, EPL, Bundesliga, or any other big club trophy may not be as excited to win the AFCON. But a home based players knows that winning the AFCON is the beginning of his international career. Our goal keeper, Stanley Nwabali is a product of the NPFL, look at how well he’s doing in the team. This is the quality of talent we are missing out on because of our arrogance.

Alex Iwobi doesn’t look like he’s serious about national football. He’s so lazy on the pitch and cannot connect the passes. It is good that CryptoprenuerBrainboss brought this up because just this morning Alex Iwobi is tending on the internet. He’s not trending for scoring goals for his club side or the national team, Iwobi video of him eating a bowl of soup and eba is what’s making the news. This shows you the level Alex Iwobi is at his career. I think he wants to be rapper, Alex Iwobi is more of a celebrity than a football player.

Home base players would have been ideal for the Super Eagles team to be built on as a new squad, but will it be a welcome idea by Nigerians when they find out there are so many Nigeria international players making waves in international leagues, which they will call out for, to represent their country in football matches.

Any coach to head the Super Eagles team can't fail to do that because he needs more of the big boys in his team combined with a few of the home base players. Nigeria's football team hasn't been formed only on home base players before, it won't never. A coach who will think that, it will take him years to achieve that before seeing a good result from the team. You know how we, Nigeria, are in a haste to castigate and sack coaches when they don't deliver as expected of them? That's why the majority of sign Nigeria coaches avoid that, to prefer calling more international players who have the experience to join the Super Eagles with a few home base players, to avoid some unknown circumstances that will question their capabilities as a coach.

I will say that Super Eagle team is improving from what they displayed in their recent matches. After sacking Finidi, the new manager in charge was able to understand more about the players and motivated them which gave the passion and zeal to play and win matches for their country.

I expect to see more of their brilliant performance in their next match and if they show some promising performance, it might be that they will be the ones to make Nigeria proud again by bringing home the AFCON title next.

The super eagles are doing well this time and this has been a repeated performance over seasons whereby they are showing tangible improvements on every sides, of course there's no doubt about tue fact that their manager is performing well ensuring that they are all working together towards a common goal with the op layers, things haven't been the same over time and we are expecting more than less each time from the super eagles in AFCON.

From now till years to come the super eagles will not be able to develop the kind of squad the previous eagles ones had, that's during the J.J Okocha and Kanu nwankwo because the kind of performance most of our players are having now will not be enough to achieve any impressive results at the international competition, is very quite unfortunate that the new generation of eagles now could not maintain the reputation and the legacy the former eagles established in Africa at large.

For now we should accept any outcome we see from the super eagles because if we try so much in expecting more from them we may end up hurting our emotion because there is no way few players can give the super eagles the achievement they want because Lookman, Osimhen, Boniface, ihanacho and few others are just the only ones trying for the super eagles, however Iwobi is no longer an influential player for the club because he has nothing to bring for the club.

I think it will be in the best interest of the Super Eagles if the NFF contracted the job to one of our indigenous coaches who has proven capable of handling the job of coaching the national team. This would save us the stress of searching and trying to persuade foreigners to take the job with lots of money and benefits given to them. I am still wondering why Augustine Eguavoen is not been considered for the job. IMO we don’t need Bruno Labbadia, Eguavoen is capable and can handle the senior team.

Well, NFF is much bigger and corrupt more than we know or even read about, there are alot of reason why they don't actually consider him base coaches. The thing is we Africans, Nigeria especially don't actually believe in our product. Let take the sengal national team for example they have been stock with Cisse for more than 3 years now and he has help the team win so much and have even taken the national team ranking high.

Again NFF won't consider hiring a home base coach because home base salary structure is low and it won't favor them in the glass House, but if a foreign coach is assigned and they are able to at least skip his salary for a couple of month you can see they will make alot of money from there.

Like I said NFF is bigger than we read online on newspapers, let just hope no matter the coach that comes in he should be able to do a good job, we have alot of good players now and if the national is going to win something then now is the time.

I don't know if it's just me but my spirit don't just agree with Eguavoen taking the job. He's corrupt like the rest and will be listening to them to play whoever they choose for him. Local coaches are seen as inferior to foreign coaches that's just it. Our national team is full of international players and they won't want to take directions from local coaches that they're probably wealthy and more experienced than.

Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith. You cannot always tell where and when the change will come from. I think Eguavoen should be given a chance. The most recent development on the NFF in their quest for a coach to take the Super Eagles job is that Eguavoen has been handed an extension in the contract he had with the NFF; he will continue with the Super Eagles and try to help us win the games we have in October.

It should be the priority of the Nigerian football federation that the Super Eagles qualify for the next African Cup of Nations, before they start considering the position of who is going to fill in as coach and manager.

The criticism is baseless and not constructive. No law states that a nephew will outshine his uncle. I will assume that great players like Pele, George Yeah, Rashidi Yekini, Roja Milla and Abidi Pele also have children or relatives who were players and they don't need to do better. Alex Iwobi has his path in destiny and he is not also doing badly. He has played for some of the best clubs in England and has also contributed to the national team. Jay Jay Okocha has finished his career; Alex should be allowed to make his impact.

But another piece of information caught my attention. Kanu Nwankwo gave the second-highest assists. Kanu was one of the best strikers in Nigeria who scored some important goals for Nigeria. But seeing that he gave this much assistance shows that he even did more than I imagined.

I agree with you that their performance has been poor in the past AFCON, because no matter how they try and they can’t win the AFCON, then it’s totally useless. I will say no African country has the kind of players the eagles are having, with the players they are having, winning other African countries shouldn’t be something they should be finding difficult.

Exactly because when those players went out to play in other club in abroad they are doing well and their names sound well to the whole world but coming to Play in the country, they can't do anything. Look at the way they loss in the World Cup Qualifiers. Really I don't know where the problem is coming again because these are players that are doing well outside but loss at home for countries like Benin Republic.
When there is International Football competition, I normally support Nigeria but they always end up disappointing fans. Before it was the referees that were against us but now it is not the referees again and we have good players. I don't think this is from the management side. Though Management also contribute but the players are good so what is the case.

No doubt when it comes to quality players the super eagles are always at the top but yet I don’t think the issue why we’ve not won yet is just because we don’t have the best coach yet. A perfect coach is needed yet the team also needs to improve, let’s not only blame the coach rather our players also didn’t play perfect last time maybe if the super eagles find a good coach the coach can restructure the team because playing skillful alone is not the problem as seen. Victor Osimhen played brilliant but we can’t blame him or other players due to the environment at the moment but, I still think super eagles have what it takes to win.

Are you so surprised that the super eagles are somehow trying? Don't go too far because this might be due to the gingering they are getting from fans to do more than what we'll be seeing so far. I expect the Eagles to be vigilant this time and bring some positive results to the home because I know there are lots of people that are taking their time to follow up the matches, travel to watch the team playing on the pitch and so many things. I still expect the team to be more proactive concentrating on the African Cup of Nations.
