However, I believe that there can be more purposes in gambling. Personally, I play for research and development purposes.

Indeed, don't you think that games can develop you and help improve your skills, for example, in forecasting? I think that games develop.

It is a choice, but I am sure that everyone will never want to experience repeated defeats, meaning that if you are involved in a type of bet that can indeed be analyzed to further increase your chances of winning or get closer to victory, then of course if possible, we should bet by applying analysis to the two teams that will compete, in the sense of looking for various references or information that is quite reliable regarding who is far superior at that time.

Because no matter what and whatever your purpose of gambling, getting a win is still the result that everyone wants, as you said that even though applying analysis and skills does not mean that we will win, but at least it can increase or get us closer to victory, that's better.

I can relate to this since self convincing is always easy when you are gambling. I alway tell to myself that I will stop immediately when my bankroll went down to 50% yet I will keep betting that time as last bet that never ends since I’m expecting to land the huge win that can recover all my losses immediately which most of the time didn’t happened and bust it all.

There’s a lot of case which I feel this way even until now but I always make sure that I have maximum amount allowed to be lose in gambling that’s why I never replenished my bankroll and set limitation in percentage of loss in my bankroll.

I have seen so many times that the moment I need a win is the moment I lose. I have seen such situations most of the time. So I made a decision to myself that whenever I needed money I would refrain from gambling. Those who gamble with the hope of profit forget the loss which makes their downfall inevitable. Gambling is fun until the gambler regrets losing money. As a earning source it is better to prefer investment or any business or job rather than gambling. I do not recommend gambling to those who have no earning source. Even if one wants to take it as fun, he should refrain from gambling.

When I read this about gambling for "research purposes" it sounds more like searching for profitable exploits, which translates to directly taking advantage of the bookmaker itself, probably it is against the terms of service anyways and one could get ones funds to be seized by the staff of the casino.
A completely different thing would be to gamble for the sake of finding those patterns or exploits and then disclose them to the casino in exchange or a reward, I believe there are still casinos which have programs which reward ethical hacking or the disclosure of bugs to them. One helps the casino/bookmaker and also keeps the money of the reward, it sounds rather fairer to me.

Though, since finding bugs and exploits requires a good degree on coding and software engineering, it is rather a minority of gamblers who partake on wagering money for research, the bulk of them do it for money or entertainment.

One of the main reasons on why people do getting wrecked because of this kind of mindset or having this kind of beliefs or emotions that they could easily do it and thats why they would really be proceeding into the things on what they are really that trying out to achieve. I don't think so, there are a lot of gamblers, some are only for entertainment and just like OP if you read the first post, OP is more into research like finding some holes that could be make them profitable along the road or for some education purposes or even bounty hunting, find bugs and you get rewarded.

If you said that you're betting on sports on any other event to find the system and how it works then you want to built something similar then it's for research purpose but what you're doing is not reasearch just trying to find the right strategy to win so the ultimate reason here is money not the research as you believe so accept it or not you just have to fit yourself in the two remaining categories.

So no matter what the subject is, when you are doing a research, you may need to use actual resources to test stuff out, but your ultimate goal is to gain knowledge and experience. So even in this case, what's done can be called a research because it is to find patterns or ways to maximize your wins, even if the ultimate purpose behind this is to find more ways to win to be able to earn money using those ways or patterns, what's done initially with minimal amounts can be called a research.

An example of this is some gamblers have observed that they experienced more wins at a particular time of the day. This might be a valid assumption because they have observed or conducted research to ascertain this fact.

I don't believe in such things, to be honest. It can be a coincidence that you might win more money during specific hours in a day for consecutive days, but it doesn't mean you will keep winning more if you play during those hours every single time.

We play these games, try to find common patterns there, look for vulnerabilities in games, helping games to become better. As a result of our practice, bookmaker rules are improved. Now we can play not only against the bookmaker, but also against other players, which means that there is equality in chances and no starting advantages for some players over others. Playing for research purposes, as in the case of playing for fun, we do not spend time in the worst possible way, and our goal is not money, but patterns that we could exploit to win. Agreed, thinking of gambling as a means of earning is much more likely to become an addiction. To move your life well you need a guaranteed income, which will pay you for sure on a weekly or monthly basis, gambling will not give you a guaranteed income, from here you will lose at any time. And you need a source of income to cover that loss. (shouldn't think about the next game to make up for the loss) you will lose more.

This is the main trap of any gambling, site owners want players to come back again and again and change their luck. At the same time, being stable players, they will bring constant profit to the owners. Poker requires practice to hone the skills of bluffing among others. Is that related to research purpose? I cant say for sure, mostly no.

Most people play to win, very few play for fun and there you have it. The major reason is for winning big and not prepare notes and start comparing one game position with another.

Some may argue that sports betting and all need research - yeah its needed but all that work? End of the day it is just luck that you turn the tides.

So basically what you do is like what hackers do? because their goal is different from the average user, they prefer to use the platform for the purpose of finding bugs and then exploiting them for profit. That sounds good too, but I'm sure that not everyone has that kind of skill, because to get a pattern, someone might need to research deeper and do quite a lot of experiments, and not everyone wants to do that and prefers to just play and get fun from it.
