As a citizen he certainly has the right to spend his leisure time gambling and if he has to make this right subject to mandatory accountability then I would say the bank is not making the right decision.

If the employee really did play during non-working hours, then the employer's decision, as well as the court's, is most likely not entirely fair. In this case, I think it's fair for the bank to fire its employee because he committed an illegal act and it's necessary to protect the institution's honor.

However, if this isn't illegal, then in my opinion the bank should never have fired this employee, much less for just cause. This considering that he never really played during working hours.

Yes, you are right. This needs to be clarified. You can't fire a person for spending his free time gambling. If so, the bank is wrong and will be obliged to apologize to the employee and reinstate him to the vacancy.

company policy of prohibiting gambling among employees is a wise move as well as to anticipate bad things may happen to the company, I think that although a person may be able to keep himself in gambling but in fact it is not a reason to gamble at work, because gambling can have a significant negative impact, such as financial and mental health problems.  which can ultimately affect performance and produktivity in the workplace.

It is not surprising that the bank will win the lawsuit because the legal system always does not work well anywhere. Regarding the employee who was now fired, it is very sad even though he said he did not do it during working hours, he still lost in court. Secondly, the story if true, the employee was giving out loans in private. If they were using the bank's money to do this, then it is a serious offence and the judgement would be justified.

There is already complications right? the gambler is working on banks and could be holding money that is obviously not his. And so he can still performs his job but we don't know behind what he is doing with those money as they are temptations right? And probably the employer doesn't want to take that risk that he has a employee that is a known gambler and he could be attracted to the money, simply as that.

Yes, the title should be slightly revised, such as changing it to "a bank employee was fired for being involved in gambling" and not for playing crypto games, the only thing that makes me agree with the company's decision is because there is a possibility for the employee to eventually gamble using company money secretly which of course will definitely harm the bank.

On the other hand, I don't think there will be a reasonable reason for the employee to be used as a defense in order to defend his rights, OP said that the person gambled outside of work hours and maybe that's what made him try to make a defense, but I think as I said above that one of the reasons why I agree with the bank's decision is that there is a possibility for the employee to eventually embezzle company money to gamble.

In this case. We can't do conclude that crypto was the full cause of him being fired... Though we know how banks are not buying the idea of cryptocurrency as it's more like a rival to them.. but then the employee was already becoming an addict.. he claims that he didn't gamble or let his gambling interfere with his work, how then were they able to find out that he plays on a casino? You're absolutely right! because as a bank employee he should have left his gambling attitude at home and focus on his job, then after closing from work he continues with his gambling attitude than for him to Lost his job just in the name of gambling addicted. Which is a very shameful thing to him, that's why is always necessary for us to control our gambling addiction whenever we're in our work place to avoid any embarrassment or sack.
