I've come across plenty of gambling discussions, and even when the topic is strictly about strategies, there are always people chiming in that gambling should be just for fun.

That got me thinking, how do you personally define "gambling for fun"?

For me it is only used as a parable but even so I still adhere to it where I still try to continue to encourage that I gamble just for fun, in the sense that I enjoy the gambling process that I do regardless of the results will lose or win I must still accept that and because it is the payment for the satisfaction in gambling that I do.

If indeed we lose then we must accept without blaming the other party or even saying we were cheated by the gambling done and when we win we must realize that it is a form of luck that we have.

I still try to believe in that as my definition of gambling for fun, although I can't deny that there is always a situation where I expect to win in every gamble made but in the end I also have to try to suppress such ambitions because gambling is definitely not only about winning but losing can be much bigger.

Let's remove the clause that "gamble what you can afford to lose", that is not part of the gambling fun but it is the amount you decide to gamble so that it will not pain you even though you lose. And the real fun in gambling is playing for leisure and not for profit and mostly in your summer tours. I appear to agree with you on this; for fun, you need to gamble without having too much expectation on where you place your money. You take it, and it's gone, and if you win something out of the bet, that's your reward for playing, and if you don't, too, that's it for the day, and don't take it too seriously as if gambling is a means of making money, as most people actually take it and have been treating it.

Agreed that gambling is in fact for fun then we must done with proper understanding of the risks involved. Of course, each of us understands that the purpose of the original game is not considered as a time-consuming mortal sin but it is created in order to fill the time only. However, it appears cumbersome when people tend to put fun in excess besides when the result is negative. For those people who can control themselves it is still a pass time after a tiring day for instance doing it in thestadt and without endangering one’s life. What is most important needs to stay humble and focused and to remember the goal, but not be obsessed by winning . Gambling for fun for me is either filling absurd amounts of matches in the same slip but with tiny amounts like 0.01$  or playing any game with low amounts. Except of course slots. I can't find fun in slots when it's so much about spending large amounts there. Even with 0.1$ rolls which is usually the minimum, when you roll every 4 seconds, you're bound to lose a lot of money.

So for me anything can be gambling for fun, even other games with decent minimums like blackjack, except slots. Other games that are so intensive in requiring you to gamble more and more money are no fun for me when the low end limit is so high indeed.

So to summarize gambling for fun for me is when you can disconnect your gambling from having to spend a lot of money just to play.

Honestly, you will only experience gambling for fun if you are making a good amount of returns as well. You don't get entertained from gambling if you are actually losing, that's the reality.

However, maybe for high rollers, they still gamble for fun even if they come up with losses since they still have a lot of funds to gamble but for middle class gamblers, losing is never fun at all. It can only bring fun if there's a winning bonus while gambling.

for me, to be able to unwind, relax and enjoy the game you are playing. profit is not the priority but it doesn't mean you do not want to win because part of enjoying gambling is winning. also, one way to actually be able to gamble for fun is to only gamble what you can afford to lose because that way, losing doesn't hurt as much compared to when losing money you can't afford to lose.

Honestly, I am the same, Gambling for me is not just about having fun wasting money. But if I go into gambling, I will really think about what I should do, what kind of gambling I should take to optimize my winnings, and what risks I can bear, to what extent, all must be in the calculation. Hmmm. Probably my definition of "gambling for fun" is when you gambled, and you don't even care if you lose that amount of money as long as you're happy and entertained. At least that is my definition of that phrase.

I know that there are some here who are taking gambling seriously and always wanted to make money off of it, and there's nothing wrong with it as long as you're ready to face the consequences in case you lose all of your money. I mean making money on gambling is there, but if you're gambling for fun, that's not your main priority. It's just for me, I don't take gambling very seriously, and as a gambler who's making most of his bets on sports, I'm only gambling to add some entertainment as I watch my favorite team playing.

I myself initially knew gambling to make money and get consistent profits but that could not be obtained until one day I had an understanding and approach that could be felt more naturally, namely satisfaction or entertainment.
Satisfaction or entertainment can be felt when my favorite team win the match that I also bet on and on the other hand for casino games it is the same but I have still prepared money to lose so even though I lose I don't feel great disappointment over lose that amount of money, and saying gambling for fun but not being able to accept lose is big lie that hurts yourself.

I somewhat agree with your statement that gambling for fun is not just ignoring or forgetting defeat, but there is an effort to improve, but can improvement be done in casino games that are based on luck? because this is purely based on luck, improvement can only be done in bankroll management, and improvement can be done also with sports betting where we can be more careful in determining betting choices and not betting without analyzing because that is a bad decision.
