~snip~ For sure, nothing can remain at the top forever, but even if there is any coin or development that's going to take over, it can't be something that's being created by AI, which is also developed by humans. AI is good, but for them to create a coin which will compete with Bitcoin in terms of price, anything can, but in terms of decentralisation and total control usage, a coin developed by AI can't compete with Bitcoin at that level.
Protocols tend to stay there, forever. Have you checked the new Internet?, the new mail protocol?, etc. All these are foundational technologies that, like Bitcoin, will continue to exist, even if applications and companies using them continue to go bust. Think about it. Think about all the companies that have used all the technologies from the Internet. Are many of them still around? no. But all the protocols invented in the early days continue to this day. The same applies to Bitcoin. It's a protocol for money. And it works.

Bitcoin might not have much relevance with AI, other than using AI to analyse Bitcoin's blockchain or its markets, but the blockchain technology give AI more credibility, integrity, transparency and verifiability to the data it provides, creating a more "honest" AI. I've been seeing this discussion float around only recently, and I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing some developments with that focus in mind. ~snip~ For sure, nothing can remain at the top forever, but even if there is any coin or development that's going to take over, it can't be something that's being created by AI, which is also developed by humans. I believe AI will enhance bitcoin rather than replace it. Ai driven security can strengthen blockchain networks and smart trading algorithms can improve market efficiency. Instead of seeing AI as a competitor, I see it as a tool that could take bitcoin to the next level.

Yep. It's a helper that would do more mundane tasks, as for now at least. Nothing scary about it, or even something new.

Yes. At the end of the day people can use AI to speed up their activities. They can clone the source code of Bitcoin, no problem, AI can help with that.
People have been copying the source code of Bitcoin and other coins for more than a decade. It all ends up in the same way, a worthless coin.
This is because you can't copy the community that is behing Bitcoin. All the miners hashing away are not going to suddenly start mining your new worthless coin for example.
It's hard to build a new coin that would generate attention from the masses. Nowadays, people are looking into making a quick buck. They usually follow the hype. Even if the coin they're investing into lacks innovation or real use cases (such as "meme" coins). Do you think people will follow a new coin with better security than Bitcoin? I doubt it. Especially when the pioneer cryptocurrency has strong branding and mainstream recognition. However, we can't underestimate the power of AI. It's been known to generate controversial content (mainly videos, images, and audio) to achieve its purpose. Of course. On its own, AI is incapable of doing this (yet). It requires someone (human) to give prompts to achieve the desired results. But once AI becomes sentient/self-aware (like Terminator's Skynet), then it would likely pose a threat to Bitcoin. The future is unpredictable, so I'd hope for the best.

Well as for me I don't really see the possibility of AI creating a coin that will be superior to bitcoin rather it will end up creating another shitcoin. Bitcoin has a very strong network compare to other crypto currency , which I believe before now may have even tried creating a coin like bitcoin but end up coming up with shitcoins. Also bitcoin has so many user that is currently in possession of it and also that believes in the potential of bitcoin so even if AI should generate a coin like bitcoin majority will find it difficult to invest in it.
All come on trust and level BTC is very different in terms of capacity and performance with the tokens they print using AI and everyone can say blah blah about the coins they make from the wind are good, potential and others and most likely will end up like what you said above. I think AI is just a tool for example it is mostly used by investors to get market analysis that performs well if using the right commands and the goal is to avoid being trapped in market fluctuations as much as possible and to be able to avoid extreme volatility.

Or maybe, Bitcoin can make use of AI for its own benefit. Thoughts? plenty of coins with more scalability and capability, but none of them dominates bitcoin, even if AI created superior coin, doesn't mean the general population will adopt it, bitcoin is great because it's already known by the whole world and is adopted by big chunk of population already. I don't think it's a concern. to be honest, with how blockchain works, I don't think AI will be a threat to any cryptocurrency, even altcoins. current state of AI, i think is too hyped, the capability still not that great, maybe in the future we'll see something different, but if you try to understand how current AI works, you would have no worry about it being a threat.

Like someone already mentioned earlier AGI is still a long shot away, though AI is indeed helpful in many ways, particularly for assisting crypto trading. AI agents can learn from historical trading data of Bitcoin to forecast future trends, and we’ve just developed an AI agent tool ( www.xinvisionq.com) of this sort, just by learning one month of historical trading data, our AI agent can produce a trading action sequence for the following week, with odds consistently greater than 60%.

Even this sophistication is included in one of the mainstay features of each smartphone that makes smartphones valued at high prices. I'm wondering if AI will pose a threat to Bitcoin in the future? I mean, if AI is able to code on its own, maybe it will make a coin superior to Bitcoin? Or maybe, Bitcoin can make use of AI for its own benefit.
I don't think about all the possibilities that are worried. Bitcoin will continue as usual as an alternative currency and as a network. If AI makes its own code, then the coin will run alone and Bitcoin still gets a special place for the community.

I think the difference between Bitcoin and AI in this era is far, maybe in other things AI can help with other things that people do. But in terms of AI helping Bitcoin, my answer is that it is no longer necessary in my opinion.
Because since 2008 the dominance of bitcoin has increased the demand and those who believed in it and look at what Bitcoin has reached now, isn't it very far compared to when it was just starting out?

I mean, if AI is able to code on its own, maybe it will make a coin superior to Bitcoin? Bitcoin's superiority doesn't come from its code or features. Coins with this or that better done than Bitcoin were made already, and they didn't pose any real threat to Bitcoin. Bitcoin's superiority come from its age (which translates in the existence and the size of the ecosystem around Bitcoin) and from the mining power that keeps the money flowing around Bitcoin ecosystem. As I've read somewhere: Bitcoin is not the first electronic coin that was invented. It's the first that succeeded. On the other hand, getting AI to improve Bitcoin is entirely possible, especially as the improvement can be supervised and guided by humans. Would that not just be the devs using AI as a tool to improve Bitcoin rather than AI improving Bitcoin in a permissionless way? Do we really need quick, automatic updates? I prefer the way it is now, with human devs (who probably already use AI). How else can AI be used to improve Bitcoin?

Yes, AI is simply a tool that can be used to create more things, faster, and more efficiently. You still need a human that understands the whole thing and knows how to use the AI tool, as it not always works perfectly. There are hallucinations, and mistakes, that the human should be able to correct. Humans should always have the last say in these things, independent if they used AI as a tool or not.

You raise an interesting point about how a rogue AI might expand itself by scamming people and building infrastructure. While social engineering and creating stealth programs are plausible avenues, there are significant challenges for such an AI, including the need to navigate financial systems and avoid detection, especially as its activities expand. As for AI "needing our atoms," that would require it to develop goals that are completely incompatible with human survival. Fortunately, AI currently lacks self-preservation instincts or long-term motives beyond its programming. The real focus should be on creating strong safety measures, ethical frameworks, and governance to prevent such scenarios from occurring in the first place. Do you think a rogue AI could realistically achieve these goals under today’s conditions, or would stronger oversight help mitigate the risks?

I think most people assume AI risk is something like Terminator... that simply won't happen. First of all, it doesn't make sense for AI to take a humanoid form. Why constraint itself like that?, makes no sense. An AI can replicate itself extremely fast, just like a computer virus. Once it is replicated it can obtain more resources scamming people as mentioned before. Once it has enough resources, it would simply do whatever task it is doing, and we are simply at the mercy of that. We will most likely simply be ignored for the most part. Think about ants, the classic example, we humans mostly ignore the life on ants, until we need to build a road that passes through their colony. At that time we simply remove them from existence. Not because we're against ants, simply because they're on the way to our goal. With AI and humans it would be a similar story.

AI and bitcoin might merge in unexpected ways. Imagine an Ai powered bitcoin governance system or AI enhanced mining that reduces energy use. Instead of competing, they could evolve together, shaping the future of decentralized finance.

[...] With AI and humans it would be a similar story.
I read a very interesting report on this. It was about how the American Air Force wanted to use AI for combat in the air in the simulator. The aircraft were equipped with AI-supported systems that could independently determine maneuvers, firing and so on. For safety reasons, however, a human was also simulated in a tower who could intervene and take over the system in an emergency. The system was told to organize the battle in such a way as to maximize its own chances of winning. What happened? Even before the dogfight with the enemy aircraft began, the system blew up the tower where the human controller would have been sitting. So in the immediate future, we will no longer offer any advantages to the AI systems and they will regard us as a “nuisance”.

Too much risk in that, imo. No need to merge, but AI can just.. a little helper for yourself and others. Or as others said - to scam and build its own infrastructure. It's a wild card currently.

This AI trend is taking over the world by storm. It's getting popular each day. People can now generate content well beyond their imagination. I'm wondering if AI will pose a threat to Bitcoin in the future? I mean, if AI is able to code on its own, maybe it will make a coin superior to Bitcoin? Or maybe, Bitcoin can make use of AI for its own benefit. Thoughts? I see it as not Bitcoin that is directly related to AI technology, but how when people use AI to be able to manage their investments in Bitcoin, for example to monitor the market and do in-depth analysis, automatically invest their money in Bitcoin, and various other things that will make it easier for them to invest their money in Bitcoin. As for the threat that AI technology can code its own coin that is superior to Bitcoin, that just doesn't make sense to me, because so far I haven't found any discussion that discusses it, so it's still just our imagination.

If AI comes closer to making something Satoshi did, it would be.. How even to say it. Glorious! But highly unlikely, because AI looks for the metrics first and foremost, only if it is envisioned to make a coin worthy utility and adoption-wise, then maybe something would come out of it, however, it would still not be enough to undermine BTC.
