Please is it wrong for a Christian to listen to worldly music? What difference will it makes in his or her life? My neighbor always look at me as if am a black Jesus or a fair devil coming back from church and on CD to listen to Ja,Rule, Chris Brown, Wizkid or Davido. The crowd that always came to this guys shows, aren't the same crowd in church on Sunday. Please someone put me through, maybe am doing the wrong thing.

...IF, I mean IF you are the true son of God, led by The Holy Spirit (Rom.8:14) you will have no desire doing that.

I encourage you to read the whole chapter of Romans 6,7 and 8 and make sure that you read from KJB. Then report back what happened.

Most Christians judge one another and that isn't the instruction given to us by God almighty, the music we listen to as influence on us my fellow Christian, worldy music contains lyrics that are contradictory to Christian values and it can influence our emotions, thoughts and behavior and thereby leading us alway from our faith, worldly music contains lyrics that can distract you from your relationship with God. Worldy music are tempting but we have better gospel music that will keep you jumping on your feet with joy.

It depends on your definition of worldly music. Some religious fanatics condemn songs that are about societal problems or love. They just want all the music to contain messages about their Holy Books. I wonder what the world would have been without songs about life. Some songs by the so-called worldly musicians inspire me more than religious songs. The songs of Bob Marley contain some universal truths that can be found in almost all religions.

Are your consciences bothering you because of your neighbor? Why did you put your neighbor to be your judge on how to live your life and what to believe? This just proved that your faith is weak because you let other people outside of your faith be your guide on how to live.
I don't see anything wrong with that. We are humans, and we have our needs and preferences when it comes to music. We live in a generation where there is liberty to do what you want to listen to as long as you still prioritize your religious beliefs.

Do you realize that almost all Christians don't consider "black Jesus" to have the slightest bit of a bad connotation in any way, shape, or form? Actually most people consider Jesus to be Arabic, almost all of them actually. So in that respect, Jesus is considered "colored" by most. I confirmed with a web search that "black Jesus" doesn't have a negative connotation and sometimes has a positive connotation.

Perhaps if you share the lyrics to one of the songs you are listening to, we can help you with a proper analysis of this situation. Maybe you're neighbor is looking at you odd because you're using a CD, which is a rare technology to use. The context is missing. Maybe he doesn't like loud music.

People are not getting things the right way, what is our own interpretation of a worldly song, if the singer is not our type or a religious type, then what he's singing should be termed a worldly song?.

Also, we should henceforth learn on how we could interpret the meaning of a song by it's lyrics and not by the singer, there are many songs today, which are even more of a blessing to us, but we despise them because of the artist that sang them not being a religious type, if you can get a meaningful taught from singing a song, then you should not neglect such.

If you want to keep to those things that you hear in church then you can start listening to music like that too and if you want to drop the things you have heard in church then you can join the hip hop songs, they are definitely not the same thing. It's a matter of priority and what you give attention to. Whoever has your ears will control your thoughts, and whoever controls your thoughts will control your life. Music is a powerful tool that affects our souls and the kind of music we listen to will determine how our minds will function. Even your bible says you should guide your heart with all diligence, for out of it come the issues of life. That means, what comes out of you is a result of what comes into you.
You will agree with me that the music that these secular stars sing is not good for a healthy soul. To be sincerely speaking, music in this century is not edifying at all. It adds nothing valuable to the life of those that listens to it.

Any sane person would know good music when they listen to one whether it's hip-hop or any other genres of songs.  For example, I don't just listen to any kind of music that doesn't soothe my heart, am very selective of music I listen to and that's why with the proliferation of  unreasonable hip-hop musics nowadays it doesn't meet my listening pleasure no matter how great the beats. Just that we now have many none meaningful hip-hop songs doesn't make it right to classify all hip-hop songs as ungodly, we should have to educate such people about the difference.

We have circular music and also gospel music, this two can be listen to by someone that called themselves Christians but it would be a good move trying to listen to disco, Hip-hop, rap music that do not glorified the name of God.

The fact that we have many meaningless hip-hop songs nowadays shouldn't make us classify all hip-hop songs as ungodly but the main problem here is that the meaningful ones are less when compare to the meaningless ones. And most of our youths are highly attach to this meaningless ones than the meaningful ones. There are some songs that shouldn't have been produced to the public as it promote immoral and indiscipline. The funniest thing is that musics has no control like drama which they may place caution for some certain age.
