Well, everything you have said is the truth, most especially the number two part which talks about discipline, indeed, without discipline, every effort towards setting and managing limit in gambling will be an absolute waste of time, I personally have seen people set of how they intend to spend a certain amount of money in a way to ensure that there is not wastage at all, but in the end, they end up spending most part of the same money on a different things away from what they initially planned to spend the money on, this indeed is a good of example of what not being disciplined enough to keep to our own rules can do to us.

This is very true, I had the same experience with a very close person about this when we discussed the financial problem and I kept telling them that he must stop doing any gambling activities because he already experiencing financial problems, but what he said is that's the only way he will get out in the financial problem, like doing gambling will solve his problem. I wanted to put discipline for myself as a mandatory principle for myself, because it gives me a strong empowerment towards my financial aspects as well as the value on how to spend money. However, stress on different things like you've mentioned the rent, school and everything would make me exhausted that's why I seek opportunity sometimes from gambling without knowing it could drain much worst on my funds. Even if you give a reminder about people on this point that you've said. An irresponsible gambler remains irresponsible when they have been spending money that isn't theirs. That's why they cannot just do not to use money that's not meant for them to gamble and is meant to use for other things. Because they won't even feel that and instead of wasting time remembering this reminder, there is no sense for them if they are already feeling irresponsible or they are already one.
