I know someone who is in higher education, he gambles and he gambles excessively. At one point he came to me to pawn his laptop, I asked him why, didn't he need it for assignments and whatnot? He said he had to pay off his debts that he used for gambling. But I refused.

While have also seen those that doesn't play gambling yet they graduate with poor grades.  Studying is a personal thing, some people like to study and read for exams while some people are lazy to study, all these have nothing to do with gambling.

Anyone blaming gambling for his poor grades is a liar, except he gambling with his school fees and he was denied his final exams. Things like this happen in our society, many gambling with their Text books and school fees Money, it will definitely influence their study. Too much of everything is not good, we shouldn't allow gambling to affect all that we do, There's time to study, and that work as well as when we are expected to gamble, while children should be prevented from gambling except they have reached to certain stage of independence, so they can make decisions on their own.

It is true that you said, we also have to know which things should be done often and which ones we should do occasionally. I have skipped classes to play football with friends I even did that officially, because my teachers let me skip, because I was part of schools football team. I can say that sport has affected my studies, but that does not mean that we should start talking about banning sports for those who havent graduated or call sport as a bad activity. Today, I regret that I have skipped classes. I did not become a football star, and lesson topics I have missed, I know only superficially. Plenty of my guys back then fell into same trap of skipping lectures due to tiredness from sleepless nights of gambling especially during their morning lectures. I thank God that was not my portion then. Gambling is something that can quietly take time away and before you even realize the damage it is causing you, it might get late especially when it starts replacing important responsibilities. Yes I completely agree with you. Maybe you are able to control yourself but there are many who are not able to control themselves. A person should never gamble while he is a student. When a young boy wins some days and sees some amount of money, he may start considering gambling as a source of his income and his attention may be diverted from his studies. So when a person becomes an adult, if he gambles, it will not have much effect on his life. So a person should never do such a thing.

Yes I completely agree with you. Maybe you are able to control yourself but there are many who are not able to control themselves. A person should never gamble while he is a student. I imagine how you felt after finding out that they spent their nights gambling. It certainly wasn't a good thing, but the important thing is that the kids came out of it understanding that it's not the solution to the problems, but it's just a game.

But people who are like that are that way because they decided to be that way, nobody forced them, they let themselves be seduced by the dark side (let's put it that way). For me difference between addicted and not addicted gambler is that addicted always return to play. Again and again. With more and new money. A student, from my point of view, has whole life and billions of things to do. And when he turns 18, even more doors will be opened for him. If a student frequently and secretly gamble, that does not mean he is addicted. When he grows up mentally, he will switch his energy and free time on something else. In a job, family for example. I have never seen someone being kicked from school because that person was gambling to much I would also advice parents not to introduce gadgets to their kids, as they will also can "cause negative consequences on education and overall development".

Want to save a kid from gambling addiction? Introduce him to gambling, but introduce it as a way of entertainment, parallel introducing multiple ways to earn money. Pay your kids for work done. One of the reasons why kids gamble - it is one of the ways how they can earn. Replace that source with something different and less risky.

Read Education is a commodity topic. Everyone in this topic are so worried that kids study less, educations is not their priory. Is education really that valuable to master it "till you get a black belt in every study"? After reading School or Skills?, it seems that some people prefer to master skill than be the best student of the school.

I am sorry but I could not agree with you when anyone gamble now and then must have to be addicted on gambling and the person will be addicted gambler whther the person is a student or anything. As the chance of being addicted on gambling is based on the how freequesntly a user using the service.

According to the explanation, the time you use in the casino affect your future and life which would have been used for studies. They use an idiomatic expression to portray the point by saying that " robbers came to steal money which your properties", but casinos came to steal your time, which will affect everything in your life in the future. So their brighten futures only ended up in gambling.  And they further said the 30% of the students are well engaged in online gambling instead of focusing their students. And for "Sports Betting" and the money that is meant for tuition fees were used in this act.
And that prompt the regulators to come up and say that gambling companies are exploiting the students with unrealistic wins. And research shows that 97% of the students used mobile phones to gamble online during school hours as a disguised as entertainment.

To an extent i know parents are not the total cause of this but truth still be told they also play a part in it. My reasons being that most parents give their children free hands from their childhood allowing them do anything at free will without checks. These children most times are left at the mercy of neighbours, uncles and friends who you donot know what they teach your children.
 I'm Not saying the ones with total supervision from parents all come out good though but if we are truthful to ourselves there is certain control and values in them that would not let them do some certain things even when they are alone.
Parents donot really give that extra time to their children because of work and money they are chasing and its really telling later. And that is why we have these toe of ossues in the society.
Also some children learn these characters from the parents as well. Imagine a parent wo is always gound inthe gambling hall and your child is seeing it as he is growing up. There's nothing that will make that child think that is the the right thing and not want to do it sometime when he has the opportunity to do so.

Time, focus, and tuition fees are getting redirected from education to platforms of betting created on promises that are unrealistic. The damage won't be ony financial.
