The country where I was born and raised is where I want to retire.
The economic challenges are tough, but they are challenges that I have to face at my own pace. A plan must be prepared well to face economic challenges starting now even though we don't know what will happen tomorrow.
The way to do this might be by investing and doing other efforts that keep money moving.

I would prefer to retire in my homeland. But if that is what I am thinking, I do not think I will retire until I die. Because I always like to be independent and I do not enjoy working very much. If possible, I will switch my source of income back to business. For this, of course, I will need some capital because I am forced to work recently. But I will soon retire from work and become a businessman and I plan to not need to retire until the moment I die. Therefore, the answer to my question is very simple. First, I am not retiring, and second, if I have to retire, I will choose my country.

Leaving your own country for extra wealth may not be the right decision. You should go to foreign for high education. And your career should be in your own country for the welfare of the country. This is a good plan if there are jobs in your country. Most of people wouldn't really go and die in other countries but just be a tourist.  Expats are required to go back to their country if they ever are retired. The government is constantly checking them whether they are still alive or not because the social security requires so.

I cannot think of any country but only in my native land, the Philippines. You have just spoken my mind. Retiring in a rural area where one will be close to nature will be a healthy and comfortable life. As long as you are financial stable spending time on the farm, river and other natural settings will give me untold fulfillment. After all these hectic years of living in highly polluted cities, retiring in a quiet and serene environment is my best option. I just hope that the government of my country will increase the pace of infrastructural development in rural areas to make life easier.

I am still considering retiring in the country where I was born because it is a home that makes it easy for us to live in peace in old age.
Depending on other people's countries is not a wise choice because we never understand the situation there so it is better to retire in our own country.
What we need to prepare is how old age will be better and we don't need to work anymore because at that age we certainly enjoy life more with simplicity.

If today is not prepared well then it will be much more difficult when we are old and maybe limited energy encourages us to stop working.
Without preparation old age will be much bleaker and starting today we need to prepare well before the time comes.

Well, at times, it's not about the economic challenges of the country but what they can offer you and what you've already achieved before retirement. For example, if you have worked in the US and have made a lot of money, staying in the US may be off because of the high standard of living. If you move to a country where you love the weather, the rule of law is good and their currency is worthless against the USD, you would enjoy your retirement and spend less to enjoy more unlike believing you can stay in the countries where the economy is so good but the purchasing power of your currency is weak.

This topic just remind me of something, you know when I was once a kid i keep having this feeling that how I wish my mom gave birth to me in the united state that I would have been the most happiest person ever. But with time I started letting go off those feelings, now I realize how conducive my country is. honestly I will never think of to retire in any country apart from my country, Because in my country there's a lot of freedom so I can't possibly choose other countries over my own country when I don't even know how they leave thier life over there.

Yes, of course, every country has its own challenges, and I can even say that my own country is worse than other countries due to the kind of situation that my country is in right now, because there are so many retirees on the ground, and the government doesn’t consider them, now their in critical situations as they refuse to give them gratitude.

But there are some countries whose retirees are enjoying it very well with the way their government is treating them, well, because there are some that retirement years will never reach, but they will go and work on it like if their retirement remains like 1 to 2 years, those are the best countries.

I'm Brazilian and I want to “retire” here. I don't think it's the best country for this, there are many challenges to be overcome, especially with our social security model. I don't want to depend on that, so I invest in private pension plans, stocks that pay dividends and other assets that can generate income in the future.

When it finally happens, I want to be able to travel, get to know my country better (we have incredible places here to visit), and other countries too. Spend more time with my wife and my daughters (they are growing up and will soon go to college, get married, and move on with their lives), away from the daily rush, to be able to truly rest!

I think anyone who lives in a country where there is safety, freedom, less crime, economy is good, all the facilities are available, and they have a home of their own, they would obviously not want to migrate to another country after retirement to live a peaceful life because that is basically what you want after you retire; live your life your way, without any issues and problems, and stay peaceful until you leave the world.

However, if things are opposite of what I just said above, you live in a country where there is a lack of employment, proper medical and educational facilities are nowhere to be found, crime rate is too high, and on top of everything, there is high inflation which would suck your blood over time unless you are very rich. If that's the case, you would definitely want to go to a country where you won't have to deal with all these problems.

I think many people might want to put developed countries on their list of favorites for leisure time, but I would have different opinions on them. In fact retirement is basically our old age, and if we don't find peace of mind during that time, it may not be a happy time for us. So perhaps everyone should spend that important time where it is easiest to find peace of mind. Even though my country is facing economic challenges, I find peace in this country because it is my beloved homeland. Perhaps everyone must accept the truth that one cannot find mental peace anywhere other than the place of one's birth, that is, the place where one grew up as a child.

Many people said Australia and NZ are a good place to live, but their downside are high living cost and big animals who can kill people.

Nope, most people consider developed countries as a place for their study, vacation and career, not for leisure time. I have never heard my friends who work in other countries are saying they will work and retire on there, they mostly said they want to work, saves money, return back to their hometown and run a business.

If I were choosing a country for retirement, I would choose Spain. A warm climate, affordable medicine, a calm lifestyle and delicious cuisine are ideal for relaxation.  And also – the sea, the sun and friendly people. What else do you need for happiness in retirement?

I would still live here in the Philippines at old age, though I would love to travel different countries if I have the funds in the future. Given that there are tons of places you can settle in, especially in the provinces, to lower your cost of living, there are also tons of people here that will treat you as if you're family and would always check on you even if you're just randomly walking to exercise or buying something. There literally is no other perfect place to retire for me than here.

My retirement plan is also pretty simple: invest in crypto, UITFs, MP2 (government-backed investment), and gold until my 60s. Sell some of these investments for my own enjoyment and leave the rest to my kids (if I will have any). The cost of living in the Philippines is extremely cheap even if you're renting your house. It will be a lot cheaper if you managed to own the house as it eliminates the need to pay for rent--you only have to pay for taxes and maintenance, which is not a monthly-recurring theme anyway, and you will have no problems with dealing with a landlord.

Hopefully my investments perform well to be able to attain the retirement life I envision myself in. It's hard to grow old without funds and without a home to call your own.

Quite an interesting question, and from me personally I would actually prefer to live in Dubai but since the country is too far for me to reach, maybe I should choose a slightly closer one like Singapore. Because in the two countries I mentioned, the environmental conditions and the prosperity of the people there are really visible so that everyone can feel the comfort. But everyone who lives in a developed country like that must also have an extraordinary income so that the luxury there can be enjoyed more perfectly.

Well, at times, it's not about the economic challenges of the country but what they can offer you and what you've already achieved before retirement. Its beyond economic challenges and what they can offer to me. I love technology, i love advancement and i also will love to see how the world will adapt to new technological advancement in general.

This means, the most suitable place for me to retire will be a country that prioritize future advancement in mind. Countries like Russia, USA, Germany and China. I will also prefer Japan too.
