Assets like bitcoin shouldn't be entrusted to a lawyer nor anyone else since its highly confidential and too valuable to entrust it to another person.

It's better to find a family member to teach and continue your legacy so that if ever you won't be around anymore, at least you can say that your bitcoin is in good hands.

I'll trust more a family member than a lawyer. The lawyers might be good to handle for their turnover of your inheritance to your kind but if it's about these seed phrases and such, you better just teach someone whom you trust most.

Property documents and papers and Bitcoin wallet seeds are not the same thing because in this case, no matter how much you forge the signature on the property document, you will not benefit from it. But if someone takes a look at your Bitcoin wallet security or 24 or 12-word seed and notes it down, your property will become someone else's for life, but your personal lawyer will not be able to do anything in this case. I will teach my family member about Bitcoin, I will never teach or tell a lawyer about Bitcoin. Lawyers can make any task much easier and they can also make any task much more difficult. Also, my family is the closest to me and I have a deep faith that they will not harm me, but a lawyer is not someone close to me and can harm me at any time, so on my part, I will say that I will teach my family member about Bitcoin, not a lawyer.

For me, I would choose the solution of trusting my loved ones, I would rather leave money for them to use than let it disappear with me and go to waste. My family is protective and willing to sacrifice for each other, I think putting faith in them is worth more than any other solution.

Although my suggestion does not in any way mean that I can't entrust my HODLing to my family, I am talking from the aspect of doing it without having problem with your family or spouse while you are alive. Humans can be funny at times expecialy when they have access to your money. It's just like your wife knowing and having access to all your wealth. So the aspect I am talking about is the aspect that you can entrust your Bitcoin assets to your loved ones without being hurt when you are alive. What they do with your asset when you are alive and when you are gone are two things entirely.

the only way I think this will be possible is to tell your family the amount of Bitcoin you have in your portfolio with proof and give access or seed to the lawyer as a will Incase you are no more.

As I said, each method has its pros and cons, none of them gives us absolute safety and we need to choose the kind of risk we are willing to face. In this case, I would rather trust my wife or mother than anyone who is not my relative. The risk I face is that my wife or mother could access my bitcoins if we have a falling out but that is still much better than having my bitcoins accessed and taken by a stranger (lawyer).

We don't trust banks and are afraid they will freeze or steal our money. You need to make your choice in the legal system or your social system.   The safest way is to have a lawyer handle it, with your family knowing your wishes.  But if you choose to put your faith in a friend or family member, that's ok too.   Once you make your choice, trust in it and move on.   You will not be disappointed in your choice - guaranteed.

I heard of a story where a man has been accumulating Bitcoin for some years and that was his only investment so he wrote a will on how the Bitcoin will be shared among his children and it was handled over to his lawyer his children knew that there dad had a Bitcoin because he told them when he dead the lawyer read out the will of there father on how to share the Bitcoin the lawyer was the one holding the secret phrase and password and he transferred to each of his children in there own personal wallet according to the writing will, so a lawyer can always be trusted you can't lie for your lawyer so you need to trust him, lawyers are trained in other to deliver the duties without being bias especially to there client, you can also decide to trust a family member but the story's I have heard about trusting a family member with your wallet has not been good story's.
It is not good that you don't trust anyone with your bitcoin a lot of people has dead and there Bitcoin in there wallet is just there but trusting people also with your Bitcoin is also very risky because they can do away with it without your knowledge.

This issue has been discussed many times on the forum and there are hundreds of conflicting opinions because we are different in many aspects of life, from personality, challenges to living environment...Some people have many trustworthy relatives but some people don't have any trustworthy relatives around. Some people prefer to do things by themselves because they believe it is the safest way for them, but some people need help or want to share with relatives or people they trust the most...So it depends on your life and choose whichever method you feel works best for you.

I think the issue with will is different for a crypto asset and trusting a lawyer with it is absolutely a wrong decision for me because we’re all humans and bound by challenges which most times are unexpected.
Your lawyer as a human might be faced with a serious challenge and the temptation of tempering with your asset since they have full access to it and believing to refund it before the need arises, which he might not even meet up.
From my own point of view, I think the traditional bank is one place to safe guard our secret phase and I understand that the purpose of bitcoin is to break free from the local bank and any central means of monetary exchange but in this case scenario, I still believe the bank which isn’t controlled by just an individual but rather a board of management and directors will be more safer.

Why not both? Anyway, there is no absolute answer for this as this situation depends on a case-to-case basis especially regarding with your relationship with the family.

As a general rule, however, it is better to keep your BTCs to someone who is not related to your or to someone who is neutral regarding with your relationships. In this way, there will be the avoidance of any bias in the event that your estate will be divided upon your death (which necessarily includes your investments and BTCs).

On the other hand, if you have a good relationship with your family members, then you can entrust its safekeeping and investment to the person to your liking. You may also give them all the wallet passwords, seed phrases, etc. and that person will necessary reap the price of your investments.

For those who do not have trusted family members, a lawyer will definitely be safe. Just as they keep documents, land papers, insurance papers, safe with a bank or personal lawyer, they can keep the Words Seeds of their Bitcoin wallet safe if that lawyer is very trustworthy. However, if there is a trusted family member, that would be better, but if there is no trusted person, then a lawyer can be chosen as the second option.

Both can be safe, IMHO. You have to let someone in your close circle know what you're about to do of leaving something very important for them through a lawyer.

I would probably never trust my seed phrase to a lawyer, even despite his high competence. I trust my family more, I understand that there are many betrayals and people do many bad things because of money, but in my understanding, if there is no trust in the family, then I do not see the point in living together with a person you cannot trust. It is better for someone to know about your coins, because if something happens to you, they will remain inaccessible, perhaps even forever.
