This fight will be held on July 19 as what the reports say and as a matter of fact, Pacman is already in California to start his training at the Wild Card Gym of coach Freddie Roach.

The question is that, is Pacman still has it to dethrone the current WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios or the latter will send Pacman to retirement for good.

@bisdak40. Similar to what have said already, I am very much excited on his return on the sport of boxing because we might witness something similar to the movie Rocky Balboa. However, I am also very much scared for him because we might also witness something similar to the return of Apollo Creed in the movie Rocky 4. I am not saying that he might die on the ring. But witnessing a defeat for Pacman in his presently older age will be something similar to a symbolic death for him in the sport of boxing and this might retire him permanently.

Ok, it seems that we have a thread discussing the potential fight and now here we are. In any case, we will see how good Manny is, the last video I saw him obviously he had gain a lot of weight already and probably waking about 154 lbs - 160 lbs. But since he is what we call a freak of nature, then maybe he can easily trim that body back to welterweight and see those abs of steel again. I haven't check if there is an odd, but for sure Manny might be a underdog here because of his age. But let's see, they've pick the weakest champion in this division in which there is a big chance that even a aging boxer in Manny can beat. Of course there is going to be respect from Barrios, but at the end of the day, he should really train an focus 100% on this fight.

He's done nothing actually to be fighting for a world title other than his name or what he's done in the past. I mean his name is legendary but you still have guys that are fighting right now to get that number 1 spot. And you have some guy that hasn't fought in so many years that just jumps up and takes your spot and may win a world title.

So I guess by this time, the Mayweather's are still very envy on what Manny is getting from boxing organizations as it seems that he is still well recognized and respected as he was given a chance to fight for a world title.

It started as just another rumor, but here we are again!
I just saw the news, Pacman’s already training in the US, so that pretty much confirms the fight is on.

Now the next big question: what are the betting odds? We need to know as most of us here don’t just love boxing... we love a little gamble too.

So we take a current champion who is only 30, and put against him former super star who is one step close to pension, who fought last time 4 years ago. Not to mention that Pacman is given 2 months only to get in shape and be ready to show 200% performance. Pacman cant knockout younger kickboxer under boxing rules, now he wants to do same against champion. Seems like a joke for me.

That's really fatal situation that Pacquaio might get for pushing to get this fight so hopefully those situation in the Rocky 4 movie will not happen to him.

Anyways looking at the short clips of his training it seems that Pacquaio is doing fine. Also I'm excited to see him going back to the ring for another time again since after his retirement it seems that
Boxing became less appealing to me.

But now we have some great event starring Pacquaio to wait and let's just see if we could see him still have those fire power then can score a knock out against Barrios.

My heart goes to Pacman but my money will be to Barrios if ever I will bet on this match which of course I don’t since it’s conflict to my beliefs and principles.

I don’t how Pacman will win this fight against an active and top fighter on their division while he is busy on campaign recently and age already weakening him for sure.

That is if Manny retains all his arsenals and we know the effect of aging.  I have seen the video of the leaked training of Manny, his shadow boxing shows that his speed and quickness do not change, but we know that it is different if the opponent is defending and attacking.  Don't forget the stamina too, it is very needed to execute his strategy for the duration of the fight.

I don't think that statement from Jeff Maywether is necessary, Floyd Mayweather Jr, can also have a championship match if he wants to, he also doesn't need to line up to fight the champion.  They both have marked their legalcy (FLoyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao) in the boxing world, so I believe they both will have the same special treatment when it comes to matching priority.

Also I'm excited to see him going back to the ring for another time again since after his retirement it seems that

It is good to see another championship match for Pacquiao, true, it is quite boring to watch boxing after Manny retires, I think there is still no Filipino boxer that can deliver excitement and performance as Manny did.

Im a fan of Pacquiao no doubt but when it comes to this fight then i might considering Barrios on this one. There's tons of reasons on why you would be choosing up Barrios for him to win against Pacquiao.
Cant be denied that MP is a legendary boxer but what makes him that totally be on disadvantage its mainly because of his age. Body deteriorates and so as with the fighting performance too.
Im not that belittling him but its better that he should that retire for good and never tend to go back again inside the ring as he's already that old and its just that right that he should be in concern about his health.Tons of speculations or saying around about this comeback is surely because of making money as he's that been known that run in politics and loses up that much money and now he had decided to go back into boxing realm and trying out to make some money. Well, its his body then its his full decision on what he would make. Lets just hope that he should be fine after the fight or no any other injuries or serious damage be taken.

If Pacquiao is already in the US and will start his training for the fight, then this is now 100% going to happen and tickets and pay per views, we'll see how they will react on it if they still want to see Pacman fight for times like this. Isn't it that the training and preparation for the fight for less than 2 months isn't alot?

That's what happens to you if you run for president and lose and 3 years later run for senator and lose again. You need to climb the ring once more despite your age.

Good for him, he's a respected legend. He's immediately given a championship fight against a relatively easy opponent. It's probably easier for him to beat Barrios than win a senate seat at this point in time.

But I think he doesn't have much time, does he? He's got less than 2 months preparation. Aside from his age, the tiring 3-month campaign had just ended. Moreover, he lost. I think he needs a little time to rest and relax physically and emotionally before starting to get into the best fighting shape once more.

Okay so it's official now that Pacquiao went out of the retirement to try and get another welterweight belt again. A division where he demolished several strong fighters back in his prime. Based on what I know, Pacquiao spends around 2 months at least whenever he's training so this is enough time for him to train for his comeback fight.

As much as I'm excited to see him fight again after years of not fighting in the boxing ring (excluding the exhibition fight in Japan), I'm also worried if he still has the power, stamina and endurance to last a 12-round fight. I mean he's 46 years old already, and we know that as the age goes up, stamina, and endurance goes down as well, and Pacquiao isn't an exception to it. Barrios is just 30 years old, just in his prime. His KO rate isn't that impressive (only 19/28), but for sure he will try to win on this one through a decision since Pacquiao is old.

For the first time in many years, I will be seeing Pacquiao as the underdog on this fight. I will not share any prediction, but I just wish both fighters good luck.

Check out Pacmans last exhibition fight. His speed, experience and ring iq has gone. We will see the shadow of Pacman in this fight. You cant trick age. If Barrios wasnt a professional boxer, but a master in other martial art, then Pacman would have chances to win. But this time his best would be to go full distance and not be KOed.

According to reports, Mario Barrios will defend his WBC welterweight belt against Manny. The stakes of this fight are high, but I believe the purse won't significantly increase compared to when Manny was younger and his opponents received hefty paychecks.

I agree. The consolation for Pacman is to finish the fight and stay healthy, ensuring nothing untoward happens to him. Given his reflexes aren't as quick anymore, I expect him to be hit more this time.

The fans of Pacman like me can only wish that his knees are very much trained and strong for this fight because we have certainly witnessed that they are not there against Ugas. This showed his weakness.

We cannot be certain why it was a very bad performance for Pacman, however, it might be a warning sign that boxing might not be for him in his old age anymore. But we might be proven wrong again similar to how we were proven wrong before heheheh.
