You already answered the question that both the players and the manager needs to understand themselves if they want to get it right as they work together to ensure they get a better result for the team. If you noticed what Xabi Alonso said during one of their games in the club world cup he said they are still using the formation and tactics of their formal manager Ancelotti so by next season they should be able to be using his own formation if it will work for the team.

Xabi is used to facing challenges and overcoming them he did it with Leverkusen n Germany, he will need to repeat it when he will be facing Barcelona, ATM and the rest of the team next season.

I think Xabi Alonso is used to this because players who don't fully fit into his tactics and principles may not be given a chance in this team, However it can be said that the players he is not prioritizing may not be part of this club now. Off course any new coach will always use what he met in the team and check each player performance and anyone that doesn't fit in will be replaced though some coach before going to any team or club they ought to have analyze and watch the team pattern of play and check the root cause of any slack so that once they entered, they wouldn't start running around instead they will troubleshoot or fix it up immediately and every coach will always want his players to play to his taste. I agree with you, everyone who has been at Real Madrid, whether they were players or managers, will be recognized for their contributions. You're right Teams like madrid has set a very high standard that any coach and player that is coming will be difficult for them to eras so they will have to step up their game when they are in Madrid, I will say that teams like madrid what actually sacks a manager is the result that he puts up because they can even be playing well but if the results are not coming that coach will likely go.
