Barcelona still looks weak in defense and this has not completely improved even though Hansi Flick has tried to rotate some players. Barcelona have conceded so many goals in the Champions League that they have conceded 1.85 goals per game in their last 7 matches. This is a weakness that can be exploited by any team when playing against them, even Slavia Prague was able to score 2 goals in this match.

Even though Barcelona ultimately managed to win this match, I am not satisfied with the team's defensive performance so far. A weak defense is a problem that must be resolved immediately because if a team concedes many goals in one match, no matter how good the attack line is, its mentality and spirit will be affected. Today's victory wasn't easy, but I will praise Lewandowski's mentality because he managed to make up for the own goal by scoring the winning goal.

I don't  know if we should count the second goal which was own goal(OG) as theirs but then we conceeded anyways.
Apart from just conceeding, It feels absolutely  bad to conceed first in any game and that's what Barcelona  has been giving it fans since the beginning  of the UCL.

Not satisfied  with the result either, I  think Hansi need to put Gerard Martin and Cancelo that just arrived to better use( I believe cancelo has some potentials and experience which could  benefit us with more training) , Balde and Kounde need to be rotated so they can come to their senses.

Noticed how olmo changed the tempo at some point and still gave us a goal, that's what we want and not chance-wasting olmo  .
They tried anyways ( the midfielders  and the forwards ).

Too focus on FCB tonight that I forgot other interesting UCL games.

English Premier League Teams in CL

The English Premier League teams are doing absolutely great this season in the Champions League. Imagine that there are 5 English Premier League teams in the top 8 of the champions League. This speaks volume of how competitive English football really is.
Germany is represented by Bayern Munich.
Spain is represented by Real Madrid
France is represented by PSG
While England has; Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea.

I don't know if y'all noticed that the Spanish team did not do badly this Uefa champions league game week. Villarreal may have lost yesterday to Ajax ending any hope they had to make a comeback in the Uefa champions league but same night Real madrid finished Monaco in from of their home team that has been demanding more from them
Barcelona won today, athletic bilbao defeated a very in form Atalanta and Atletico madrid drew to Galatasaray and I think they deserved to win.
This improvement from The la Liga teams is a good sign for them .

I have never been so disappointed in Spanish teams like I have been disappointed in them this season. I can't remember how many times they have played against English teams this season but I know it's more than seven or eight times and I still remember they won just once a d it was the win of Barcelona against Newcastle in England that was the only win the Spanish team has against English teams. I can remember few years ago, only Real Madrid faced four English teams and eliminated all of the to win the champions league that year. It's not only the losses against English teams, just like you said, Villarreal lost again to Ajax and this same Villarreal has been the most disappointing this season for the league. They have not won any single match in this season's champions league and ATB is the second team to disappoint the league.

Good performance from Liverpool, they defeated Marseille 3-0. Juventus also won beating Benfica 2-0. The match I considered a tough game is Atalanta and Athletic Bilbao, it was really a competitive game but I'm surprised to see Atalanta being beaten at home.
Despite Barcelona winning their match against Slavia I'm not happy with their performance, especially their defense line, as they can hardly keep a clean sheet.  Chelsea had a tough match they really struggled to win their game.

After the round up of all the matches I have come to accept that Arsenal are my favorite to win the league, Arsenal are playing in a different mindset, they want to win all the time and anytime they don’t win their frustrations are visible in all competitions.
They faced the hardest opponents amongst other favorite teams but they won in dominating fashion against inter Milan.

Yes you made valid points because so far Arsenal is the only team that remains unbeaten, winning all their matches without a single draw. No other team has done that and Arsenal has faced strong teams like Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid, and defeated them, which is very impressive. Although with the problems we knew Arsenal with every season, I don't have much confidence in them to win the Champions league title but I believe they will go a long way, and I will be very happy if they can make it happen and win this precious trophy.

Finally we watched the real Vinicius Junior tonight! One goal and two assists... This is his best performance in a long while. He played a key role in Real Madrid's destruction over Monaco by 6-1. 

However I'm still not sure if he will keep it up and be consistent. Let's give it a time. Real Madrid really need his productiveness these days to get easier wins like this.

He ran the show all throughout that game and if I'm to give another player his flowers, it should be Arda Güler with those beautiful passes linking up the defenders and attackers. Whatever Arbeloa did seems to have worked yesterday, maybe he's the kind of Ancelotti manager. I change my mind, he looks like one to fight for a trophy. Vinicius Jr actually gave three assists but the last one sadly was an own goal scored. Kylian Mbappe also extends his goal tally to 11goals.

While I thought that Vini Junior has become a candidate of market transfer, Vini has decided to reclaim his place in the Madrid squad. But be it as it may, there will still be internal conflict and competition between Mbappe and Vini Junior.
Personally, I would like Vini to be the point man and the best player of Real Madrid over Mbappe. I think he deserves it more because he really worked for it.

Well, Vini has certainly being playing better and not all kicked in with Mbappe’s injuries and with Garcia suddenly trying to win the spot light. I think these did remind Vini of his many qualities and he started playing better. Scoring goals and creating assists as expected. He doesn’t need to be holding the ball way too much obviously, I think these are the things that hindered his performance.

Monaco completely outplayed in the midfield, Tchouameni decisive with his ball tracking skills, and the same goes to Jude Bellingham who brought stability likewise. He got the last goal and celebrated so good. The fullbacks Camavinga and Valverde also helped attacked aggressively.. Arbeloa gave the players, just the freedom they need and they perform and be themselves. Big shout out to Chelsea tonight, back to back massive win for them. Next up will be against Crystal Palace.

That's their biggest problem, their defense is absolutely nothing to write home about. I don't know what else those defenders need to do their job, they can't just maintain their position to make some saves. They obviously make the keeper look like he isn't trying despite the saves he's been making so far for them. They still tried a bit in La Liga, but UCL conceding is way out of it and the forwards have to get as many goals as possible every single game just to cover up even though  they are quite wasteful sometimes.

Individually, Barcelona don't have elite defenders, but the system they play makes the defenders that have look worse. Even with the best defenders in the world, Barcelona will still be conceding a lot of goals. They may not concede as much as they do now, but they will still concede a lot. They play a system where, the moment the opponent has the ball, they are exposed. One pass can split the whole defence open, so I don't blame the defenders too much.

The system has helped them become so successful since Flick took over, so it's obviously working, but it has its disadvantages. If they can find a way to attack as they do now, but also protect their defence and learn how to defend set pieces, they will concede fewer goals. A team that concedes goals for fun this much might have a hard time winning the UCL, unless they willoutscore every opponent they meet and that is not guaranteed.

Barcelona is a strong team with an aggressive attack, but no club is complete with a weak defence, and this is something that will definitely affect them in their race to achieve trophies,
They do have good defenders but their defensive system is too bad, but one thing about them is that they are good at scoring goals and that is their savings grace at this point.
But imagine what they will be with good defence even as they are good at scoring goals,

Despite conceding an early goal, Galatasaray didn't panic. Atletico Madrid could have pressed harder after their early goal, but they opted for a more controlled game that's typical of Atletico Madrid. They play even more cautiously in the Champions League.

It was a closely contested match in terms of tempo, and the result was a draw. The positive for Galatasaray today was their well-organized defense they didn't make many mistakes. The only problem was their ineffective attack.

This is Vinicius Jr in the making. If Vinicius Jr doesn't perform, how would Real Madrid have a blast for winnings? They're completely not able to win games but what happen yesterday? It was extremely an easy game for the home team, watching them dominate and thrashing opposition with ease is a good way to start. Bayern Munich got a two goals to one nil but many definitely would be disappointed of the outcome including me. I thought this game might give as much goals as we saw between Real Madrid Vs AS Monaco last night.

Barcelona don’t have a good start, Slavia Prague almost seemed like a good match, scoring first and forcing an own goal out of Barcelona but, you just know Barcelona would always find a way back into the game and they did. Getting a first half draw with a 2:2 scoreline and finishing them off in the second half with 2 more goals from Olmo and Lewandowski.

The game between the two teams was quite competitive and at the beginning Slavia Prague scored the first goal, their attacking performance was a bit of a let down by the Barcelona team players. But the game was tied at half time, but the Barcelona team players did not give the opposing team any chance to score in the next period of time.
Barcelona team added two more goals to the scoreboard and the game ended with 4-2 goals, Barcelona team performed aggressively in this match. But yes Lewandowski performed well in this match, that's why Barcelona team was able to win.

Why do so many people focus only on Real Madrid matches when there are so many other equally good matches? Monaco was simply a team that came into the match against Real Madrid with a terrible scenario – their poor form included 4 consecutive losses in Ligue 1, there was no way for them to win when the team's performance was that bad. There was nothing special about the outcome of the match - so I think it was just one that entertained the fans.

There were no much surprises in tonight matches, the games went well as predicted. The only surprising result tonight was that of Atalanta losing at home to Athletic Bilbao. Given how high Atlanta ranked in the table before this match. I considered them to win Bilbao without stress but somehow football will always be football. That match you felt will be an easy win will be the one to fuck up. Initially I had thought that it was going to be Liverpool and Barcelona that would win at away tonight but Bilbao joined them, and spoilt my prediction.

You are right, Atalanta missed this opportunity they should have been in the safe zone but unfortunately they were out of the top 8 yeah it's a shame they lost at home and a draw should have been good enough. You know Athletic Bilbao only had 3 shots and all the shots goals while Atalanta had 10 shots with 6 on target + 70% ball possession we don't know if Atalanta just had bad luck or they underestimate the opponent. In the last match, Atalanta will face Royale Union Saint-Gilloise well, this is an opportunity for Atalanta to try to get back into the top 8 on the condition that their competitors must play badly.

Bayern Munic have destroyed the tickets of many people tonight in this poor performance they put up tonight. There was never a way to convince anyone that at least four goals was not going to come out from the match and the most painful part if Harry Kane missing penalty which would have made him score hattrick. Even Barcelonal match ended well and in line with prediction but Bayern match was the problem that made people to lose serious money. I have never seen Bayern play this bad in a very long time.

The odd difference between Bayern Munich and Union Saint-Gilloise was huge. I didn't expect Bayern Munich not to score up to 3 goals and more. The thing is, all their first team players started in the game. It is a must win for Bayern, but unfortunately the odds for betting on Bayern to win is too small to select.

Bayern are not the only teams that destroyed bettor's ticket. Marseille are involved. I was able to skip that Bayern game. Hoping on Marseille to score Liverpool at least a goal and they failed to do so.

I was really impressed with Liverpool performance today, because it was a very good game of football, Liverpool have been very lackluster this season, they’ve not been playing very well in recent games, playing a draw with Burnley which is more like a loose, the overall performance today was spectacular and I really enjoyed the performance, I haven’t been this happy with Liverpool winning a game this season, and right now they’re 4th in the Champions League Standings.

Well Chelsea deserves to win their game today, they were the only once playing football, Pafos just looks like a team who only came to defend, and hit Chelsea on a counter, but unfortunately the game failed them, when you look the Champions League Top 8 you will have to notice that English teams are doing absolutely fine right now with their Performance, 5 of the English teams are in the Top 8, only Manchester City that are outside the Top 8 teams in the Champions League Standings, which means that English teams are dominating in the Champions League.

From the recent poor performance of Manchester City in all competitions, it has also affected their stance in the champions league and has also left them to finish not in a position where automatic ticket will be given to them to the next round as the table stands now, they’ll have to go play in the playoffs before securing a slot in the next round of the competition. It was really not what they expected against a team like that in the champions league, Boro/Glimt has further shown their lapses more and how they can’t handle even small teams with their level of performance now.

With this, the top three in the UCL are occupied by three clubs from different leagues, but EPL clubs occupy more top positions than others.

This shows the dominance that the premier league teams has in European competitions all throughout. They have really being great, so this is a record well deserving from them and i hope they do better going forward in the competition as we head towards the next round of the competition which is more fierce and leads to automatic elimination if you don’t advance to the next round after an home and away fixture game for all teams. Occupying the top three cannot ascertain how far those teams can go, it is by their performance in the competition that will tell how well they can go to even win the trophy.

Maybe they're being hunted by the trauma of their last encounter with Manchester United. It seems Manchester city are going through another series of defeat as a result of what looks like some psychological effect that is impacting the English club who lost in their last domestic league encounter against a struggling Manchester United in the Manchester derby over the weekend. And the effect of that encounter is what seems to be affecting the performance of the former EPL champions in the UCL as they have conceded 3 goals against Bodoglimt, and it doesn't look good.

A series of defeats is inevitable and this can happen if you're not careful. The drops in tension can certainly do a lot of harm and this has been seen. Clearly, the defeat during the derby has hurt City a lot and i think they're going through a bad period.

I hope they recover.

They definitely have to recover from their trauma as quick as possible because the big occasion  in the UCL is just about to get starting and they can't go in the round of 16  playing  averagely. It would be a quick elimination for them which would be too bad for the  fans. The upcoming game will be against Galatasaray, and it's a home game which must be won to avoid  the knockout play off by those teams who didn't make it to the top 8.
