I think Dortmund is a small favourite and I see their chances to advance to the next round at maybe around 60%. The game at home is a bigger avantage for Dortmund as they have proven internationally that they can beat any team at any time in their home stadium. In the Bundesliga Dortmund so far lost only one game and have the second best defense while it is looking much worse for Atalanta in Serie A. They were now able to beat Juventus Turin 3-0, which I think should be a strong warning for Dortmund of course.

I agree with this. Dortmund have also been playing far better than Atalanta too. They are cuurently 2nd in the bundesliga trailing Bayern Munich by 6 points.

This really isn't about managers anymore, the quality of the teams is too much. I understand everyone was shocked that Benfica managed to beat Real Madrid to be in the top 24, and that is of course a huge deal and congratulations for them. But this isn't even about Arbeloa versus Mourinho, while I still think Mourinho isn't a great manager anymore, I still can see that he could be better than Arbeloa and still wouldn't matter.

Real Madrid is far greater than Benfica and no matter how well they might be coached, this won't change much for them. The only thing Mourinho hasn't been good at lately is the clubs he chooses: Roma, Fenerbahce, United, Benfica - lol this guy just loves pain. This is true, and I feel like revenge would be on their minds. Real Madrid could have been in top eight and not have to play Benfica twice if they just won that game and be eight instead. As far as the Champions League is concerned, I agree with you that there are teams that are like kings and queens while others appear as subordinates, but I want you to understand that the era that Real Madrid was seen as king in the Champions League is gone, so this time it will take Real Madrid a lot of time to prove their worth in the Champions League. Dortmund is a stronger team  than atalanta. But atalanta is very serious about the champions league. They were in a good rhythm in the champions league. But their performance in serie a is very  weak.

Atalanta lost in the last two  matches of the champions league. As a result, they could not stay at the top of the table. But after the first  6 matches, atalanta was in the top 8  of the table . There is no doubt that atalanta will try their best to win against dortmund in the playoffs. But Dortmund is a more experienced  team on this platform. Whatever , I am more interested in betting on dortmund's victory.

The squad quality is definitely on the side of Dortmund, they have built a team that is doing fine yet again, after the year they almost won Bundesliga and failed on the very last game, they went into a small rebuilding phase and didn't do that great for a while but now they are back at being the second best team again, which is fine and definitely something to be proud of.

However, this is UCL and there is nothing guaranteed here, anything could happen and they need to be careful. Remember, it was the same Atalanta who defeated 3-0 the Leverkusen team who spent 50+ games unbeaten as well. That Leverkusen team looked like the best team for a while and yet Atalanta defeated them in the final game when nobody gave them a chance.

They are working on what? During the last years I didn't see any real improvement in their defense. Rudiger is still probably the best defender they have, and he's like 33-34 years old. Personally I never liked Militão, I always felt he was very overestimated, he is just a decent player who plays better when he has a real defender next to him (Ramos, Rudiger...) but when he has to guide the defense he is just not good enough. They also brought in Huijsen, but it's too early to judge him. He has a lot of potential, we'll see whether he's going to be the next Hierro or Pavon.

It would one help of a game for benfica to actually replicate this same performance again but it's football so there is nothing that is impossible we have seen a lot of times the wonderful things that do occur with some games especially when the teams that is expected to win by a land slide actually losses the game.

No one said this game was going to be an easy take away for Borussia Dortmund. The game have been talked about much because this is between two big teams and they both have big potentials to win this game. Borrusia Dortmund wealth of experience in the champions league cannot be over talked about much and the recent performance from Atalanta has also being exceptional and has putting them as a team on a very good edge also in this game. Sometimes domestic league performance is what is used to compare teams to play in the champions league but it’s still not the perfect way to go about it because some teams play better in the champions leagues and put more effort in it than the domestic league. This will be a tough game regardless of who gets to win at the end of the match.

Actualy, Atalanta shouldn't be underestimated, as they've managed to collect more points in the League Phase. At first glance, the strength of both teams appears fairly balanced, but it is clear that this will be a difficult match for both sides.
