What’s your real definition of a “win” in gambling?

I’m sure we all have different definitions - if there was just one, maybe a lot more people would have already quit gambling, since the reality is most of us actually lose (the numbers don’t lie). So why do we keep gambling, and why is the industry still growing? There must be some benefit we’re getting out of it, otherwise, we’d just be wasting money, and only a fool would keep doing that, right?

So what does “winning” really mean to you? What keeps you coming back to gamble?

There is an endless hope for a better future in every person. This is how nature works, and each of us believes that we are different from others. You can ask yourself this question, and within you, you will hear the answer that "other people are simple and stupid, but you are special." I do not deny that we are all special in our own way, but when we sit down to play slots, what is our advantage over others? The answer is nothing. Yeah, having no time to be pressure or worry about anything, because I always consider gambling to always be the same, which I'm always ready to accept whatever outcome it may come with, which makes me not to think or treat it as an money for survival but instead o take gambling to be a means where I can be entertained and have fun with it, having this mindset makes me to feel like a winner, which I consider it as my own definition of win in gambling.

I prefer that attitude as it changes the emphasis to non-profit and places the power in your hands. In my case. a win is not necessarily finding a big payout. but being content. having fun and not going beyond my means. When I am able to enjoy the moment. be disciplined and not worrying of losses; then that would be a win in itself. It is a bonus having money. As soon as gambling begins to have a negative impact on your mood or money that is when it is no longer a win. regardless of the results.

Winning can mean different things to different individuals but to me winning when gambling means I don't lose more than I've invested into gambling, at times I might not say it is an investment for what I have put into gambling because if I put in $100 then I should be making more than $100 because if I have less than $100 then that means I have lost but although it is not an investment still I don't want to lose my money. What makes me to go back to gambling is because of the fun I get from gambling, I don't want to lose but also I still want to have a lot of fun and I can do all that by just being disciplined and not overstepping my boundaries.

My definition of winning in gambling is when I can earn money for several years with a winning strategy I've created myself, without making even the slightest mistake. It's like conquering yourself, but it's extremely difficult. I once tried to become a winning poker player, but after several months of hard work, I realized it wasn't for me because it was exhausting work that I couldn't overcome, especially if it lasted too long. When someone is gambling for long time and manages to do it while not losing any money that can hurt their financial status should be called as successful gambling. My rules in gambling, there is one I love very well and I don't use it for play and that is gambling and make no loss in a way that even if you loss, make sure you get the profit cover from another way, that's how you enjoy gambling. If you don't win today, you will win tomorrow and when you do win, make sure that the money you make from the new win covers the money you have wasted on casino in those period, that's how gambling should be profitable.

I am also of the opinion that anytime a person is gambling and he is not making money from gambling, they should quit and not gamble again, it may sound harsh but I don't like seeing people losing money to gambling and don't know when to put a stop. I don't believe there is anyone that enjoys losing money and it's not even like they gamble with what the can afford to lose, they gamble with money they need which is bad practice in my opinion.

What would you call it when you "win" $1000 in one day, when you have deposited $5000 over the years and lost majority of them? Imho you are going to have a bad time if you see your self a loser just in terms of overall roi, because that it's going to be negative for majority of the gamblers. Imho you should enjoy occasional lucky wins, and while you can accept that you are in loss, i wouldn't focus on the negative and set unrealistic expectations.

  Well I certainly don’t understand the correlation of this to what we discussed earlier but however yeah casinos are business built for profit making and the idea is to allow the lucky ones benefit from everyone else who contributed to a particular sport but then, in terms of the discussion winning is in direct dimensions, the cash win and the emotional win, its values are not always equated because humans only see monetary value and not The Who value in the emotions that have been defeated that were meant to ruin you.

This your definition is okay for me and that should be the practice not depositing and withdrawing lesser than what you have deposited. If you are withdrawing lesser than what you have deposited on a casino, you are not doing yourself any benefit rather than giving your money to a casino to use it and settle other gamblers that are winning and constantly make profits from them.

Winning for me means that I win an amount large enough that affords me the ability to invest in a venture that gives me enough passive income that would be enough to sponsor my daily needs because I believe true financial freedom is only when income from passive stream sources is able to 100% serve our daily needs.

Of course in reality it is hard to expect to have positive balance in gambling, considering house edge.
In my experience vast majority of gamblers don't keep statistics of money deposited and they would claim 1000$ a win ever though they deposited 5000$ over longer period of time, simply because they dont keep track of theor spendings. So basically it all depends on fact if you keep your deposit records or not...
