Gambling finds it's way into every aspects of the society, as far as you're putting something on the line to proof a point, it doesn't have to be money. It is also possible for inmates in the prison to gamble and they don't have to use money, it could be the loser performs chores for winners or giving up something valuable in the prison. But I expect a lot of cheatings will happen between inmates because most of them are criminals. The dangers of prison gambling is that there are cool headed inmates and aggressive ones, it means that fights can break out. I don't have idea about how they discipline inmates that engages in illegal activities but I reason that it will be severe.

i havent been in prison but i've heard shooting dice is the greatest activity in jailhouse for gamblers  . So yes it is very common here in turkey.

On point but sometimes when we talk about using spare money to gamble what comes to my mind is, so it I means some person aren't aware of this fact that the best way to stay safe as a gamber is to gamble with the amount you can afford to lose and whats the amount you can afford to lose, "spare money" many persons know the origin of gambling and why it was actually created but the still fall victim to some things they are not supposed to, am a gambler but am always checking myself whether am not doing it rightly because I can't afford losing control reason being that i know how embarrassing such can be to my family.

That's the basic because it can easily be hidden. Dice are very small things, so you can even keep them in your palm.

Here in our country, it's different. Dice are old school. I've heard stories from the real prisoners who are now pardoned, and they say the real gambling there is mostly using cards. I guess it's because it's the traditional type of gambling here.
The bets, though, are different. It's not money but mostly vices. Well, it's given because they are not allowed to have money inside, and if you do have money in there, there's no value to it. It is power and resources that gain the upper hand.

I see prison as a correctional facility where prisoners form good habits over time while regretting some of the actions that has led to them being deprived their freedom. A Prisoner who eventually gets addicted is getting himself into another mess when he lives prison.

I have never been to prison, no. I do not intend to either and would like to keep it that way. The fact that gambling happens in prison doesn’t surprise me. I can imagine it can get very boring and inmates are obviously going to want to try and entertain themselves.

Most prisons have a sort of store where they can buy cigarettes, snacks etc too so trying to win money can be appealing. I think card games are probably the most popular in prison if I had to guess.

It seems you have used the money meant to solve your important things to gamble and you end up losing it or your friend have used his/her money meant to solve his/her important things to gamble and he/she end up losing it, that's why you want gambling to be prohibited totally so that people won't lose their money meant to solve their important things in gambling and find themselves in a financial difficult. People aren't forced to gamble. People who chooses to gamble should always gamble with the money they can afford to lose and they should stop chasing their losses so that they won't get addicted.

Yeah, being locked up like that, I can imagine how bored and restless someone must get, and gambling ends up being the only thing that actually breaks it. It is not really about winning or losing money, it’s just about the energy, the excitement, something to feel alive when everything else is so controlled. I have seen stories where people bet food, smuggled items, even little favors, and it just shows how strong that urge to gamble is, it does not need big stakes, just something to keep the mind busy and give a little rush. Prison almost makes it worse in a way, because everything feels bigger and more intense when you have got nothing else to do…

I have never been to the prison either, but with what I see from prisoners who were just released from prison, I see unrepentant people mostly. It gets me wondering what the essence of prison is, just for punishments? The kinds of activities that go on in prison is supposed to be one that will rehabilitate the children. Activities like gambling that has the possibility of make the individuals who engage in them become slaves to their emotions is supposed to be excluded from prison, it should be prohibited so prisoners don't get to engage in them. Gambling can be addictive, releasing addicted individuals from prison is not a good transformation.

I haven't been in prison, and i pray never to be in prison because life in prison is tough and difficult. Gambling is not allowed in prison so that it won't make some stronger inmates forcefully take money from weak inmates to gamble, and if the weak inmates resist in the process, they might get killed. Despite gambling not allowed in prison, those inmates who loved gambling before they were sentenced to prison still find a way to gamble with their food and cigarettes in the prison just to entertain themselves and make themselves happy.

You are right, I completely agree with you, those who are not already gamblers before going to prison may find it very hard to participate in it while in there, and if eventually we find people like this gambling in there, it's for a reason which mostly either relates to what to eat or what to own or simply to show or win superiority from other prisons who must have for one reason or the other challenged them.

I think it all depends on what the prisoners have done. I think some prisoners who have done certain things should certainly be allowed rewards to promote good behavior and I think this could be a positive thing. I think if you let any prison inmate who wanted to do this that probably wouldn’t be a good idea as it could insight violence within them Start fights start gambling war, things of that nature, etc. that said not everyone deserves to suffer in jail and I would like to see it at some level at least here in the United States.
