You see those catchy titles on YouTube or TikTok like “Invest $100 and make 200% daily” or “Invest $100 and get 10x in a few days” or “The coin that will change your life if you invest in it.” All of these are extremely attractive titles, and many people might believe they can double their money and investments this way... Many may buy these dreams hoping  to achieve wealth, only to fall into the trap of greed that leads them to a scam bot, a fake exchange platform, a phishing website, a pump and dump coin, or a Ponzi scheme.

Therefore, as the OP advised, and I see as important advice for beginners, they should stop chasing these unrealistic dreams and always seek the facts and do their own research.

When you’re been promoted with so many good messages that are too good to be true, selling a dream that’s too good to be true to you, then you should seek for advice and not just jump into it like that. There are many ways that someone will tell you a story that is so convincing and not see any reason to disbelief in the story, but when you have a little doubt on it, even though not a doubt on it, asking questions to confirm the legitimacy of it is important for your own safety in the crypto space. Safety that will save you from losing your funds and also not making you to expose to dangerous attack and inflictions of your wallet.

For the sake of posterity, we will continue to tell others including those who are new to these investments to be cautious of this major trap of the mindset which promises people of getting free money through investments which sound too good to be true. Couple of weeks ago, I consulted a friend of mine whom I knew through a youth movement to come assist me in coordinating my brother's affairs who is a son to a very prominent figure in my country. Our first meeting which was the introductory meeting went well, then we had the second one couple of days after which came with its own shades. My friend, upon hearing my brother committing 10 million naira to 20 million naira to the project, was fascinated about the whole thing and immediately brought up a proposal to help my brother make 600 million naira in 6 months with just 50 million naira capital. In my head I'm like, is this some sort of ponzi scheme or what? Immediately my brother and myself were both disinterested in working with my friend and the rest is a story now.

Why did I bring this scenario? The reason is yu have to be extra careful with even your friends when it comes to issues that have to do with money. Because money is the root of all evils and any investment which sounds too good to be true is probably fake, no matter who's involved. Another problem is many newbies do not want to learn first. They just want to cash out immediately without following the due process, making it easy for scammers to get what they want from them. They capitalize on people's desperacy and greed to exploit them by using fake screenshots of profits made and testimonials to get to them.

My advice for you is, don't be in a rush. Learn the basics,understand the risks involved, verify the platforms through online/offline research and don't give your full trust to anyone managing your funds for you. Get yourself disciplined and avoid unnecessary desperation because it can lead to your destruction.

I believe that the first way to avoid getting scammed is not being greedy and believing in something for nothing, secondly not seeking the easy way to achieving a great financial success.

It's better to ask yourself some vital questions or get clarifications on how someone promising you any goodies actually makes his own money from the business.  I've learned that for a business to be sustainable, an employer should make up to 5 times or more what he pays for labour or collaboration, so if there's no clear and practical way he gets his own revenue, then you're the revenue.

Greed and lack of understanding are what make people fall into the trap of scammers. When scammers come to this set of people with their sweet stories, at first they never understand that it is just a trap, and they never bother to do research to know how true this can be due to ignorance. All interest is in the offer and how to gain it; because of greed, one can't even afford to let the offer go. I think if people prioritize knowledge, the chances of getting scammed will reduce because knowledge gives direction and also provides one with an understanding of the implications of greed.

If every newbie can stick to learning cryptocurrency before intending to invest in any coin, we can generally minimize the risk of getting scammed by scammers, but I don’t think it is possible that way because most newbies coming into cryptocurrency are coming with the aim of making money as quick as possible, and that aim is the main reason they fall for scams because scammers will always give the good offers they can’t afford to miss out on.

Not replying or responding to unnecessary PMs in all social media, and avoid been greedy will really help, but when will our newbies stop all these? They can’t just stop until they get scammed and we can all testify it.

Indeed... there's no shortage of scams in the crypto world, and most of them always start with a very tempting offer of quick and guaranteed gains.

But I also think there's are still many good and legitimate oportunities, so I think its very important don't reject automatically everything, but rather to filter the information that comes to you, investigate the facts before deciding and if it seems legitimate, then bet an amount you're willing to lose.

And its not difficult to identify scams from something legitimate in most cases... I won't say it's a foolproof way, but you can always start by checking the source... anything that comes via DM from a stranger is already a red flag. Scammers also don't usually have a reputation or a consistent presence, so understanding the business model is key... if you can't identify where the money is coming from, it's probably because it's coming from you.

Opportunities exist, you need to know how to take advantage of them. You just need to be willing to research beforehand and not give in to time pressure when someone tells you you need to get in today before it runs out.

You can receive such DMs on any platforms, forums, messenger applications as it is a common scam type.

In Bitcoin forum, unsolicited DMs are not allowed and if you received them, felt uncomfortable with them, thought them as scam DMs, you can report them to forum moderators. Scammers will be banned shortly after forum moderators receive your reports.
