Twenty Nine days until the FIFA World Cup Competition kicks off

I don't know who you'll fan though since we do not have our Super Eagles playing, but I'll be rooting for Congo. I'm already tipping them to come second place behind Portuguese national team in their group. I know we're all Africans and all our support goes to our African countries representing but I'm be making mine a lot personal with the Democratic Republic of Congo! What are your thoughts guys?! Senegalese national team another great side to back! Smiley

You are right if he was a white guy they would have valued him more than the way they value him now he’s a very good player and any club he goes to he usually perform very well and make them more better. Such a player should be valued for such amount of money, he deserve it. I really don’t see why some club are finding it very difficult to purchase him with huge amount of money he’s a player that will enter your club and make an impact. He is not a player that will come to your club and do nothing. He will surely make an impact in your club and he has a lot of fans all over the world, especially in Africa and once a club sign such a player they will have a lot of visibility and money from fans all over the world so he deserve to be paid huge.
I believe Victor Osimhen is earning big amount of money at Galatasaray so I don't care if clubs are willing to buy him with big amount of money. When this season ends and the summer transfer window opens for clubs to do business, if any club offers Galatasaray what could make them sell Victor Osimhen, good for him and Galatasaray, but if there's no big money offer for him in the summer transfer window he should just stay at Galatasaray.

I don't know if any club in Europe will get Victor Osimhen for €150 million.
With the way white players who are below Victor Osimhen level are valued £80 million - £100 million, had the been Victor Osimhen was a white guy or plays for any European national team, clubs in Europe would have agree to buy him for €150 but since he's a black guy and he's playing for Nigeria national team, no club in Europe will get him for $150 million.
I want him to play in the Premier League where he will be more marketable and valued but they didn't see him as a player they need most. If he was they would accepted him since last season. We know one thing, we love to stay were other value us but when the opposite happened, the interest to be there is not there again. Victor Osimhen said he likes where he is. I really want Victor Osimhen to come to Premier League and not even LaLiga.

I wonder why CAF even approved of such in the first place. Maybe it should be a criteria to be met before applying for such a prestigious ceremony. A nation with no good sports facility, always having record of owing players allowances and match bonus, borrowing to fix economy and I ask what will it benefit us as a nation hosting such an event when we did not even qualified for the world cup tournament. Even the CAF we played with morroco we were robbed of the match and CAF could not say anything now our government is quick to host CAF awards ceremony. Of what economic importance would the ceremony bring to our nation rather than we paying for the event logistics and mobilisation, hotel accommodation for guests and CAF officials. This would just be a big expenses for our nation when we are struggling to implement minimum wage and our government borrowing here and there

I saw this news a few minutes ago as I was scrolling through Facebook but it skipped my mind to post the good news here. I was so happy when I saw the news, because Morocco has been the country that have been hosting the CAF Awards ceremony in the past four years,a but seeing that Nigeria has been selected to host this year's CAF Awards ceremony they have stopped Morocco from hosting the ceremony for the fifth time.

This is good, for Nigeria to be the host of CAF award ceremony for the second time(2017 and 2026). At least they have put a stop to Morocco four times in row(2022-2025) they hosted the CAF ceremony.

Let me assume in years to come, Nigeria, DR Congo and Morocco will not be the only country that will be a host to CAF General Assembly and CAF Awards ceremony

I don't really consider either of these events enticing, for me non of these events could be more interesting than having the whole of the entire continent being hosted on our soil for the AFCON, it's high time we hosted the AFCON, the last time Nigeria hosted the event was in the early 2000 where they lost the finals to neighbours, Cameroon, as one of the leading nations of the continent in football. It would be wise for Nigeria to host the AFCON once again and showcase our football might to the rest of the Africa rather than hosting trivial events that hold no value.

Can it be possible for Arsenal to win a lot of trophies because Osimhen joined Arsenal? I am thinking of the possibility of this happening as we know a single player can't win the whole matches of a team, without it being a collective effort of the players and how the coach structures the team.
It is very much possible because this Arsenal squad are very good, the defense and midfield is arguably one of the best in the league and this team have come second three times in a row in the EPL. The only thing lacking is the attacking depth and Osimhen could be the solution to that  problem.

Why does it seem like the premier league has infiltrated this thread lol

Africa will be coming to Nigeria, as Nigeria is set to host two major CAF events this year.

The events are the CAF Ordinary General Assembly, which is expected to take place in October, and the CAF Awards ceremony, which will be held in December of this year.
source

It will not be the first time we have hosted this event, but I hope the event is much more put together than the one hosted in 2015.
It's not just about hoping we get to host the afcon, the big question is, how prepared are we to host the afcon considering the current state of most of our stadiums? Hosting the afcon requires a lot of preparation and sadly, we can't claim we're that ready for a thing as that.

Coming back to hosting the afcon award this time, it would have been a really good one if one of our boys are capable of winning the award. But clearly, we might just be hosting it and someone else will win the African best and though we can't claim it's something we're entitled to,  it wouldn't make much headlines seeing that we didn't even qualify for the world cup and at the same time has nothing serious that's going on with us in the world state as far as football is concerned.

I agree with you. Having our country host the AFCON would be more preferable as it would be a great benefit to us. I saw online where the CAF President was quoted as saying that the last AFCON held in Morocco generated $2b revenue for the country, and I was amazed by that. We need a source of revenue, not a source of depletion, looking at the current state of the nation. Maybe our leaders should try to do the bidding after this event and see if we would be considered, since we hosted the awards event and spent some funds. Maybe the AFCON would enable the country to gain back what we've spent hosting the awards event.

Smiley
It is sadden the FIFA world cup competition is just remaining twenty nine days to start and super eagles of Nigeria is not amongst the 48 countries that will be completing for the FIFA world cup. Since the super eagles of Nigeria will not play in the world cup i will fan Senegal and Portugal in the world cup. My number one country i want to win the world is Senegal because they are African country and i must put my race first but if they cannot win the world cup that is when i will root for Portugal national team to win the world cup. Even if i have chosen to support Senegal as the only African country in the world cup, i am wishing all the African countries competing for the world cup good luck and success.

With Nigeria being the host, it can improve our influence in African football and give us a better chance to host the AFCON in a few years' time, that is, if our infrastructure improves to be able to handle the competition because we currently cannot.

Businesses in the host cities like hotels, restaurants, clubs, etc., will benefit from the many visitors that will come to the country for the event.

Yes Arsenal has a very good defense and they have a very good midfield also the only problem they are having is the attack and if Victor is part of the attack he's going to do very well and Arsenal is going to succeed, one of the things I like him for is because he usually knows how to make his teammate put more pressure and determination in every match they are playing he's a game changer and that is why I love him so much I wish he will go to Arsenal and make a difference over there but the problem is that Galatasaray will not be willing to sell him out just like that so if he does not accept this year Arsenal should be patient with him and try next year I believe he may accept to come and Galatasaray may let him go.

From what I know, only Morocco were able to reach the semifinal among all African nations in FIFA World Cup. Generally, African teams quit the competition in the group stage or after a round in the best scenarios. Since this version is different we might expect them to advance a little bit further but I am not sure they could play the final game, whether it was Senegal, Morocco or any other team. For Portugal, it is less powerful than the previous years so I don't think they will get a chance to reach the final too.

Good one that Nigeria will be hosting these types of major CAF events this year but as a country I feel that we should have do more than just hosting minor CAF ceremonies. Let tell ourselves the truth when last did Nigeria host a major tournament, Nigeria should be talking about hosting the nations cup because we have what it takes to do that but look at the state of our stadiums in the country.  They are in a very bad state apart from the Godswill international stadium in Uyo I don't think that, we actually have a stadium that is up to CAF standards not to even talk about FIFA standards so these types of ceremonies coming to Nigeria is good but not necessary to me.

If Nigeria had not hosted African Cup of nation I would have not be happy to see that the CAF ceremony is hosted in Nigeria because the league Africans played should have been what they needed to host than anything else but however they have already done that so is not also a disgrace to conduct the ceremony in our country and even if is not a tournament were we would be watching performances but is a great event because there would be several acknowledgement they would give to people, so actually there would be a lot of foreign presence in the country. The most important before Nigeria should host any tournament again is upgrading first because it would be mockery if they cannot get to semi finals in the trophy they hosted.

I've read rumors of Jose Mourinho having interest in Victor Osimhen, because Mourinho is literally on his way to Real Madrid and according to his saying he said, African strikers gives him one of the best results, so people are rumoring that Jose Mourinho might likely go for Osimhen as he is moving to Madrid. However I'm still one of those persons that are vehemently doubting the possibility of Osimhen coming to Arsenal, with the way Arsenal is currently organized, I don't see them getting ready for such wage bill.

I know that we have high expectations for our African nation to perform better than they have in previous World Cups, at least not to be eliminated from the group stage. But thinking of reaching the World Cup finals, I think that's a difficult task that African teams are yet to get to anytime soon. Maybe in the future, we will be seeing that, not now that the other continent has world-class players in their midst.

Talking about the World Cup finals with Portugal, I don't think they will do that. There are countries that you should be thinking of, to get to the finals. Countries like France, Spain, Germany, Argentina, Brazil

I saw the news mostly in Nigerian and some African-based newspapers. Jose Mourinho has always cherished African players. He once talked about their hard work and the respect they give their coaches. I read one article where he said Michael Essien calls him Daddy while at Chelsea. I have more confidence that Jose would push for Victor Osimhen's transfer than Arteta. English clubs have not shown much commitment to bringing the former African Footballer of the Year to the EPL.
