Just want to share something I’ve observed in our community. I know a few people who are consistent gamblers, yet they also work really hard. It seems like gambling actually pushes them to hustle more, because they need money to fuel their gambling activities.
There are some gamblers who gamble regularly and they are very responsible towards their work. They value their work. They gamble every day after work. I have not seen any evidence among them that they stop working and gamble. I think this is definitely a positive aspect. For the gamblers, I would say that a budget should definitely be kept for gambling. If the budget is not used excessively, even if the gambler gambles for a long time, there will be no negative effect, but if the gambler earns and spends that money regularly on gambling, then it is not possible to find any value for that work.

Just want to share something I’ve observed in our community. I know a few people who are consistent gamblers, yet they also work really hard. It seems like gambling actually pushes them to hustle more, because they need money to fuel their gambling activities.

In their case, they’ve been gambling for years, but they’re still responsible with work, so I don’t see it as pure irresponsibility. Their motivation might be different, but they’re still putting in the effort, even if the end goal is just to fund their gambling.

So how do you see this kind of lifestyle? Do you judge them as wrong because their reason is gambling, or do you respect it since everyone has their own way of finding happiness?

It may be true that those people are working hard because of money to use and gamble and it can also be true that gambling is not the reason why they are working hard, so we should not really conclude. But if anyone is working hard because of money to use and gamble I will say it is not a bad idea so long as they are not addicted and they are not stealing and doing illegal things to get this money but it will be unwise for someone to be working hard and losing it to gamble yes, there is no guarantee we will win in gambling is just that we set our hopes so high but instead of that I will advise the person to use his hard earned money to start up something that will be giving small profit on a regular basis.

It is not the right thing to get motivated because at the end you are just going to spend money on luck where you don't have any control, just leave it to fate then why start working hard in the first place? Let's pray or do something and hoping for a miracle to become rich makes more sense to me. Cheesy

But I will admire their discipline, 9 to 5 at the job and 5 to 9 at casinos. Tongue

I know some people who have that tendency - but it's a mistake they shouldn't make. They can gamble with some of their money - but if their motivation for work is gambling, then that's really too bad for a person. Gambling addiction has made them think illogically - they need to fix it and may need some professional help, but it is difficult to advise people whose addiction is that severe.

So how do you see this kind of lifestyle? Do you judge them as wrong because their reason is gambling, or do you respect it since everyone has their own way of finding happiness?
Working hard just to support a gambling addiction isn't a good idea for them - I think everyone knows that gambling isn't the place to pin their hopes of getting rich. They should be working hard to save, invest and fulfill their responsibilities as heads of the family - but gambling has changed their mindset.

No!!! An one thing has nothing to do with the other... Its normal for someone to have a good job be very good at what they do and still be addicted to gambling, but someone else in a very similar situation may have a good job and to be intelligent enough to understand the dangers of gambling, so they choose gambling with responsibly and take every precaution to gamble responsibly, even knowing they have the money and opportunities to gamble much more than they are usually to do.

I agree that the need to support the habit often puts pressure on people to work harder to pay for it. I just dont think gambling are "legitimate source" motivation to someone to work hard... in the long run that person will no longer be able to handle the pressure, possibly unable to maintain the addiction, or even become depressed from working so much.

My opinion... financial responsibility and discipline are personal choices, not a consequence of gambling.... no one needs an addiction to work hard, there are other, healthier ways to find motivation for work.

Quote
Is gambling inspiring people to work harder?

It's a need... when you need something, your brain fires up and looks for a way to get it. The more you need it, the harder the brain will work to find a way to get it! Is it gambling, or some drug, maybe a pussy, you name it... It's all the same, when you need it, you need it.

So it's simple, you need money for all the pleasures... but how much do you want those pleasures? Is it a need? If it is, you will work harder to fund your desires....

PS and yes, we can call it "inspiration"... we are all inspired to make more money so we can spend that money on things we want & things we need. You choose what comes first...

I don't relate to such a lifestyle at all. What right do I have to judge them? What do they care about my respect for them?

Can you call happiness the eternal pursuit of money (at work) only to lose this money in gambling and start the cycle all over again? These people spend time, effort, money, and what do they get in the end? The illusion of a chance to hit the jackpot? To me, this all seems extremely ineffective. Maybe your friends would be better off directing their efforts in a different direction? If they work so much, they could use the money they earned for something useful, right? For example, investing.

All the efforts of your friends turn out to be in vain, because in the end they don't bring any tangible (material) result.

If anyone should put so much effort  in the work they do to fund their gambling  lifestyle then they are in trouble and they need immediate advice because such persons could end up destroying the source of their income and go broke for a very long time. It really  easy for a boss who has knowledge of your gambling habits to let you go because he might feel threatened of what you may do to his business  because of your indisciplined with gamble. At least  we've  heard of situations like this, however if the person wishes to save his job then he should quit his addiction.

Once again, this depends on each individual's personal response, but what I see in general is that gambling actually makes people lazy. This happens when someone wins big. When someone wins big from gambling, they feel that it is easy to make money just by gambling, and that a small amount of capital can be multiplied. This is easier than working, where you have to wait a whole month to get paid.

However, this is something to be cautious about because it can trap you in an endless gambling cycle, constantly hoping for big wins with every gamble you make. Never let a big win in gambling change your perspective on gambling; it’s just about having fun, not about seeking profit.

This is wrong - working hard to fund gambling completely means that his money will eventually run out, and all his hard work will have been in vain.

However this is just a personal assumption as they know how to find happiness through gambling.

If you spend your entire salary on gambling, that’s still wrong but if it’s just a little, it’s okay because this is how we find enjoyment in gambling, as long as it doesn’t exceed the set limits.

Meanwhile, in gambling no matter how much salary you receive each month, if you spend it all on gambling you’ll still face problems.

Well, this is not the same for everyone....The main reason why gambling can be an inspiration for someone to work harder is when they end up losing a huge amount of money, this makes them want to work hard to get back what they have lost, in my opinion this is actually better than gambling more to get back losses...But the best thing to do is to work not because you are promoted by gambling but you must have a quest to improve your life
Like when people say to work harder in gambling, I don't really know what they are talking about because gambling is not certain, and the knowledge and strategies or experience you have in gambling do not make it guaranteed.

So I don't know why gamblers are trying to work hard in gambling. It is not like a job or skill where more effort is needed. Working hard in gambling will either lead you to gamble with an amount you can't afford to lose or to increase your gambling limit. Gambling is not about working hard; it is about gambling responsibly. It is a game that you can't predict.

Of course, it is necessary to follow the rules of management in order not to lose your money quickly enough, but whether they will work harder is a big question. However, I remember a long time ago an interview with a player who was talking about his path and he said that thanks to the game he lost a lot and now he has tied it up, but now he is motivated to pay off debts, so he got those jobs that he would never have taken because he was in a comfort zone without debts. In short, I would say that to some extent this is possible, although often the path to this is not the best.

I think it's 50:50, for a person with responsibilities like taking care of a home, taking care of all those bills and all that you ..you need a good stream of income and if you put entertainment like gambling this means you need to work twice as hard so that you have the budget to spare some money for this...but what happens if you are on a fixed salary, then of course you gamble less...then the other side has people that get to be good gamblers because they can't work hard, they just love it easy which is living on the edge , otherwise do what works for you but remember to make sober decisions for everyone to be happy.

I don't know but I really can't digest this. Because you are saying that they are working hard to manage their gambling money. That means they have very little earnings or they spend more on gambling than they can afford to lose. And this is definitely not a good sign, but it shows us the sign of an addicted gambler. I will never take this positively.
Because there are many cases where addicted gamblers are getting involved in crime to manage their gambling money.

I've always worked hard to achieve my goals, I don't work hard to support my vices. Gambling is a vice, a pastime, a diversion—call it whatever you like.
I work hard for my family, but I certainly don't work to support gambling. If I can play, I do; if I can't, I wait. The trick is always the same: discipline.

I don’t know if I should also picture things from the same area you do, but I have also seen someone who does extra tasks just to get extra pay in order to sponsor his flexing lifestyle, which, if he were to be spending from his regular income, would affect his family.

I don’t know if I would say that his lifestyle also pushes him to work harder or that the hardworking energy is already in him and just needed a push to bring it out… but even without gambling, I think such a type of person can still be able to do those extra jobs to make extra income if they have the opportunity, as long as they know extra income can come from hard work.

We all live a different lifestyle. Some would just prefer working hard alone, while some just hustling to finance their gambling world, and there’s no bad about it. Whatever your goal in life, as long as you make your own provision, and as long as you do it in legal means, then I don’t see anything wrong if you put your hard-earned money into gambling. You worked for it, so you should enjoy your money as well, even if it means gambling is your best resort.

I've decided to test these threads out: but this one takes the prize at Bluff 2025; it's so good you end up contributing to the clutter.

Anything that inspires honest work deserves no criticism.

Ah! BTW, please stay away from that premise, especially the famous 5% of your income; "don't bet money you can't afford to lose."

In reality, yes. Most especially if you find gambling not just a source of leisure but more likely a source of income where you can double or triple it, then the more that you will thrive hard so you can continue your passion with gambling. And that’s the reality in life, if you want it and live for it, then work on it first and eventually enjoy the outcome.

However, there’s always limitations when gambling. Don’t use all your hard-earned money and spend it all into gambling, there’s always a caution on it. Gamble on your spare money, and be disciplined enough to stick to your gambling budget.

So how do you see this kind of lifestyle? Do you judge them as wrong because their reason is gambling, or do you respect it since everyone has their own way of finding happiness?
If their hustle is just to find their gambling account for further bets, the. I don’t think it is responsible. In fact, it is the same as addiction because you are not seeing any positive result and you keep gambling, what are then doing?

According to your explanation, I understand that some people are working hard always to make money just to fund their gambling wallets, this simply means that they are always loosing money in trading since they are have to always put in money. There is nothing like finding happiness in this situation because it is just waste of money and time since you can’t stay and study yourself to build wealth with gambling, instead you keep empowering the gambling industry.
