It's more regretful to be unable to win everything than to lose everything. That's a fact, and that's based on my experience in my life of parlays in sports betting.

You of course. You didn't cash out about 70% of your win which is regretful but you friend had something to go home with as cash out. Whether early or not, cash out does it function of mitigating against our risk and if it happens that after cashing out the game become successful, then we wait for another opportunity not to cash out and see how successful it will be.

Your friend is suppose to take solace from your own incident that you never got anything from your own bet but he did. The nature of man is greedy and that is what is making your friend to regret his early cash out. Keep in mind we are talking about regret as a human feeling and emotion and thus we are touching a topic which is very relative and can change with depending on the point of view of each person.
From my point of view, both of you are in a position in which is valid to feel regret about missing out an opportunity, however you friend is likely to be feeling more regret than someone who decided not to participate at all on betting, because he was way closer to get the huge payout than anyone else, who decided it was too risky to bet as he did.

I think If you caught the storylines rightly, you will put me to the picture of being most regretful because we were both chasing the big wins and while my friend was out of doubt cashed out little profits, he is said to had lost only some profit percentages but in my case I lost both capital wagering value and profits when I had the opportunity to also take profits like that of my friends. So Ideally I should regret more than that of my friends.

Having a picture of this scenario I should be somewhere regretting because I lost it all while my friends regret will only be that he did not take the whole profits.

Anyways, I can only hope both of you eventually move on and learn from this experience.

Of course that is one of the characteristics that makes one a responsible and healthy gambler. You don't just have to be outweigh by the past and that is why we should always act according to how our emotions can withstand.

You both are supposed to feel regret cuz it's in human nature to always feel like that during situations like that. I have had such opportunity before but I cashed out and till now, there have never been such a huge win offer but I really learnt a lesson from that experience which made me to develop the idea of betting on double tickets for games that I am certain would give a huge potential win. If maybe I wanted to staked on the game with $10, I will divide it in two place and  bet twice on the same game (s). So, if I see a big cash out, I will take it and then allow the second slip to play out.

Even though that feeling of regret isn't going to solve anything your friend shouldn't be in the position to feel that way because his decision was better that yours. If you had that opportunity to take 70 percent cash out and you didn't then I would understand if you are regretting hour actions. Taking cashout is better than losing totally, betting is uncertain, you can not be sure about any game so always be on the safe side

I'll say both of you are likely to regret your actions but your own regret would be worst compared to your friend's cause atleast he still cashed out and benefited an amount that's more than what he used in staking the bet but in your own case you missed out on everything cause you refused to use the cash out option the you had the opportunity hoping that your bet would come out correct and it backfired. As large gambling is in the world there is no way gamblers will achieve the same results in a particular game, because there are some that will be convinced that the game will not end up well than to cash out immediately to have some money to play next time, while some will not allow anything to disturb them until they see the end of the game to be happy or sand for the results they got at the end.

I had a similar case last week in my bet during the game between Juventus and Inter Milan, West Ham United and Tottenham, my selection was for Juventus to win and Tottenham to win which would have given me a total of #570k almost ($400). When Juventus and Inter was playing 3:3 and the game got to 90+ I had the intention to let it go since I used a little but again I thought about getting a little amount from the game and I collected the cash out but I was shocked to see Juventus winning the game by 4:3 and Tottenham also won from away against West Ham United.

Your overconfidence that you will successfully win your game has only lead you to a total loss, and for me that’s very regretting on your part. While on the part of your friend, he was able to made a positive profit so there’s no reason that he should be regretting in the end.

LOL.., but from your story it is easy to see that cashing out is a mixed bag, if you are in doubt about whether you will win the bet and cash out it satisfies your loss or regret aversion. So I think your friend's choice is reasonable, on the other hand I think people who don't cash out despite having doubts about whether they will win the bet are mostly chasing counterfactual wins.

Anyway the real problem here is that when a gambler knows that he can cash out at any moment he doesn't hesitate to bet bigger, it making the gambling losses worse in the long run.

I hardly press that cash out button no matter how hard I try. For the few times I have used that, I was lucky to have made the right choice because the game would have failed so there have never been a time I regretted using it but I'm always reluctant to use that since the game I played are usually few and ends about the same time or the same day. I believe my opinion depends on the amount involved each bet. Since it’s different scenario when the amount involved is big or small.

You have most regrets if the amount involved is just small or medium since you ended up in loss while your friend still gains. But the amount involved is high especially the potential profit of your I believe he has reason to be more regretful since he missed the chance to earn huge profit for a small profit.

No need to feel regrets if your profits are just small. You should remember that the match can change anytime so there is no guarantee your bet will give you a big profit. It is better to use the chance to cash out while it is there rather than to lose because of being greedy. When you become overconfident, you may forget that the rules about the game can change.

You will feel that you can win in the end. But the fact sometimes changes and causes you loss.

Between you and your friend none, of you should have any regrets. What is the by-product of regret? It leads no where. It is just a game. You win some like someone already said and you lose some. It is just for fun and you don't expect it to go your way, you only hope that you have some luck on your end and you win but even at that, winning is not assured. I would suggest that in your next game, both you and your friend should do the opposite  of what you did and let's see what happens. At least you both will have a feel of being on both end of the decision to cash out.

Your friend may become greedy in the next bet. Sometimes, we regret when we decide to cash out, it would be better if we consider staying consistent with the bets we make. Cashing out sometimes helps us, but sometimes it also becomes a regret. Gambling is always related to chance and luck. We cannot always force the results for us to enjoy. The best thing is to enjoy the bet, there is no need for too much regret.
