However, players constantly overconfidently believe in themselves and think winning is just around the corner, only to miss out again. To achieve this, they might even take out a bank loan or even start borrowing money from friends and family, jeopardizing their friendships that may have been built over several years. You just have to be careful not to be overly greedy and learn to limit yourself, not letting the game consume your mind. Although, having experienced a lot, I understand that this can be almost impossible, we must constantly improve 1% in the game to improve our control and play.

Gambling in dept is a very red flag

You begin to loose it the moment you start placing bets to avenge lost money lol. Gambling should be for leisure and entertainment and not to pose as a main source of income or where you keep your hope for income to clear dept
I believe there's a breaking point when it comes to gambling, that is when you begin to borrow from different sources (acquaintances, relatives, friends and in very critical times even strangers) and start run into dept just to place bets.

I have a colleague that is has been into dept for the past 6 months because of debts accrued due to gambling.  At the end of the month he pays debts from his little salary so he ends up owing colleagues to just manage by till the month ends . And he complains bitterly of how he has been paying this depth for over these months and how it has even mentally affected him which inturn is affecting his performance at work as well.
At this point my only advice to him is to stop anything gambling when he is finally out of this depth because he is at his breaking point already. So what is your take on this issues?

Everyone is different,  for me I wouldn't even allow myself get to that pont of getting to a breaking point. First of all my gambling activities is under control at all times and I don't chase profits so gambling irresponsibly is not something I would worry about. If I were to be in such a position I would quit when I notice that I am losing way more than I planned to or budgetted to gamble

There are things that don't require advise anymore because I have done this several times but still the same thing. Honestly, I have not gamble to this extend before and I would never in any way think of it.

 Gambling is a game of luck, why cant we just gamble for fun and entertainment and leave the rest for luck to decide, because it has been said several times here that gambling involves losses than winnings but I don't why gamblers are still getting to this point, it doesn't make any sense at all because there's no how you can afford to beat the casino.

What happened to your coworker is, in my view, a classic case of the domino effect in gambling. One little loss-not at first viewed as significant-can grow into a big one and soon there is debt, there is stress, productivity has dropped-ultimately a vicious cycle that cannot be beaten unless stopped. When someone has to borrow money just to live while still paying off gambling debts-that�s when you know they�ve crossed the line.

Never have I gotten to that stage. Even when I place a bet slightly more than usual, and I begin to feel uncomfortable, immediately, I decide to take a break so as not to continue in that state of emotion. Because I know that once the urge sets in to "get my money back," then I'm trapped.

In the case of your coworker, I would probably make the best decision to take a break-off entirely, until his life and finance have fully recovered. If not, he will still be caught up in the same cycle of losses.

There are 2 points when I have to take a break while gambling and I keep my best to stay on these 2 situations.
1st is when I have just lost my gambling budget. I have a gambling budget that I usually set for a month, if I lose it it too early or I lose the whole budget in the first week of the month then I have to stop for the rest of the month.
2nd is when I have just won some money. At this point, I have to take a break so I can enjoy the winning first for something that I can spend/buy IRL.
I know it is not that easy to stay on discipline but I have to try it hard to avoid something bad later.

This is actually a very good one to learn from as well.  Having a budget to gamble with depending on your earnings.  You designate an amount of money for gambling and keep it aside for gambling when it finishes then the gambling for that time also be on hold.
I'll also suggest that these gambling budget funds be kept in a separate account. Because if they are kept with other funds you can loss track of how much is used and how much is remaining.

You know people can both differently with a different reason and the different understanding, the best way to understand gambling is for you to gamble with what you can afford to lose and whenever you are losing much in gambling without gaining or benefiting from gambling I think that should be the time that you have to give a gambling a break

When you lose much in gambling that will make you to be looking for your losses so whenever you have started realizing that you have lost much in gambling and you are after the losses it is when you become addicted, so it is good to control addiction in Gamble, we need to stop gambling when we see that it is taking us so much money that is not supposed to take from us, that is the best time we need to stop gambling for the meantime

Sincerely speaking, why should someone who has lost so much more than they have over a long duration of consistency not thinking of taking a rest to refresh, reflect, restrategize and reemerge?
I do take breaks from my gambling activities, I do even forget I gamble most times until I remember how lucky I almost got the last time and then have to summon up the courage to resume.

When one starts going about borrowing to gamble it shows irresponsibility and I don't think it is healthy for one who is in debt to consider gambling as a means to secure funds to repay the debt.

At first before gambling I do have specific amount I do fund to gambling site, and whenever the amount is exhausted then I have nothing to do than just to stop the game or bet for that period till I have another funds to make deposit to the gambling site.
Usually as a gambler you should be disciplined enough while gamble to stop irresponsible gambling, because many people do not set limits for themselves while gambling that is why they do not know their limits and when to call it a day.

First, you need to sit down with your friend and have a sincere conversation about the real reason he's gambling. He needs to be honest and tell you why he continues to gamble excessively, what he hopes to achieve by doing so. When he tells you he wants to have fun, then you have to ask him if he's truly happy with his current life. If he's happy after the game is over, and if not, then he should stop gambling.

If he answers that he gambles to make a profit, then you have to ask him if he's happy with the losses he's incurring. If he says no, then you have to tell him to stop gambling forever. Many people don't realize this, but gambling in casinos isn't about making money; it never has been and never will be. There are a few cases of people who have been lucky enough to win a lot of money, but in general, gambling has always been about fun. If a person isn't having fun, then they should stop gambling forever.

If he continous gambling at this point, the obvious is going to be his ruin so asking if he should stop is not an option, he definitely should before he incurre even far more in debts such he may not be able to pay and gets in some sort of absolute ruin. This is a typical of someone who was gambling to make money and not to have fun, he does looks like he threw his discipline and self control behind so he didn't employ them while gambling because that for me is the only explanation to why he continually had to borrow just to enable him meet up with his gambling needs.

If for any reason in this situation he gets to be advised to continue, except he gets the rear luck and hits some jackpot or grand audit,  he may get worse into depth and may not be able to clear that which is pending already, thereby keeping him in a position that is and will never be regarded as a good or suitable one for him as at the time.

Gambling is not the solution to our debts. If we are on deep sh*t because of gambling, then the only solution is to quit.

I do understand the situation of your friend, and I believe many forum members who gamble do understand it too. I have been in late payment for my mortgage because of gambling, and that is why I kept it under control by just playing sports betting with just small amount.
It's slots that took a big chunk of my budget, and now I am trying to recover all of that by working and not by gambling.

Yes, it's a death spiral when a person thinks success is just around the corner and continues to waste money and energy. This applies not only to gambling, but also to business, relationships, and everything in general. When I see someone doing something and suffering losses, but then continuing to do the same thing over and over again, somehow thinking that the losses will turn into profits, I just want to kick them. Such stupidity is irritating.

Here, there are now quite a few people who have the same problem as your friend OP. And the main cause is gambling addiction itself. Usually, people like that are those who have lost control and do not consider gambling to be just for fun. Usually, from the beginning, they want to get rich quick as a shortcut. So people like that are prone to falling into gambling addiction or gambling excessively. Anything excessive in any field, even if it's not gambling, will still have a negative impact, so the problem is not gambling itself. However, sometimes people start to lose control and are unable to control themselves.

Your friend's situation has reached a point where he should stop first and focus on making more money to pay off his debts. He needs to work harder and find as much additional income as he can. That way, sooner or later, his situation will improve.

For me, gambling is just a fun form of entertainment. So, the money I spend on it has certain limits. But your friend seems to be taking it too seriously. And your friend is in a situation where he can't enjoy gambling at all, especially with his current financial condition.

Even common sense should tell any man in this same type of situation to stop gambling and first pay off the dept he or she is owing, then he or she can continue gambling there after if the interest is still there.

Personally, there is nothing like breaking point in gambling except one is gambling at the wrong time of their life, and maybe for the wrong reasons as well. Gambling is supposed to be an activity we engage ourselves in for fun, we are supposed to enjoy it and not get tired of it at any time for any reason, this is why there are rules to it, playing while adhering to the rules ensures that you are never gambling at the wrong time, or for the wrong reasons.
No one should ever be gambling for the reason of making money, because this is the first place we usually get it all wrong, you are owing someone or some people and you are expecting to make money from gambling and pay off that dept?, well it's possible but if you are not lucky, you will not only owe that dept for a long time, it will also be increasing by each passing day or any time you gamble.

At the very least, you can always take a break to think. Most likely, you will lose less than you win during this period.
