Do you think he should continue gambling or he should stop?

A strange question with an obvious answer 
If you came to gambling to make a profit, then it’s better not to even start, but if you started and are making losses, then... surprisingly, you have to stop 
But many gamblers believe that they can stop "near the big win," which is, of course, a mistake because this is not a search for oil or some kind of breakthrough scientific discovery.

However, players constantly overconfidently believe in themselves and think winning is just around the corner, only to miss out again. To achieve this, they might even take out a bank loan or even start borrowing money from friends and family, jeopardizing their friendships that may have been built over several years. You just have to be careful not to be overly greedy and learn to limit yourself, not letting the game consume your mind. Although, having experienced a lot, I understand that this can be almost impossible, we must constantly improve 1% in the game to improve our control and play.

When a gambler has gone to the extent of taking loans or even borrowing from his friends to satisfy his gambling desires, then it is very obvious that he is loosing his mind. He definitely needs to stop gambling entirely at least for some years or even forget totally about gambling because there is a very high possibility that there would be a repeat of this pattern. If gamblers have discipline, they can tackle greed more efficiently. Every gambler has this greed in them, most of us cut it short with working strictly with the budget. If you've a budget and you are disciplined not to go above it, you have solved to a large extent the issue of greed.

I mean I never want anyone to start gambling in the first place, much less to continue with it. As for your colleague, wouldn't it have been better for him in the first place if he had never started gambling too? So, no debts would have incurred for him either. Profit?

Here's the reasons why I asked the above question;
I have a colleague that is has been into dept for the past 6 months because of debts accrued due to gambling.  At the end of the month he pays debts from his little salary so he ends up owing colleagues to just manage by till the month ends . And he complains bitterly of how he has been paying this depth for over these months and how it has even mentally affected him which inturn is affecting his performance at work as well.
At this point my only advice to him is to stop anything gambling when he is finally out of this depth because he is at his breaking point already. So what is your take on this issues?

It's obvious that he should stop gambling for good until he paid all of his debts. There's no one to blame for it but himself so he could go and endured everything 6 months or whatever it will take him to pay everything.

Hopefully, if he manage to pay it then don't go to gambling again as he will just repeat the process over and over again until such time that maybe he will not have a job anymore to pay the debt again.

I hope he finds his bearing sooner than later because to me he seehe's heading into addiction (if not already addicted). If he loses his job as a result of bad performance at work, it's going to be a lot more difficult for him to cope with his debt repayment. So, he should be careful.

At this point my only advice to him is to stop anything gambling when he is finally out of this depth because he is at his breaking point already.

What if he has got to that point where he's addicted and can't help himself out of it? This is why it's good not to be a loner.

A breaking point is the point you'll get to and you call it a quite in what ever you are doing.  The point were you are stretched to your limit and the option you should opt for is just giving up.

A gambler needs to quit gambling when they realize it's becoming more important than anything else. When the goal isn't money or a little fun. In general, money is only an intermediate goal in gambling, and in betting as well. When a newbie starts gambling, they initially just want to have a little fun, but they don't think much about money, viewing winnings as something far out of reach and expecting to lose immediately. But then they win and realize that they can earn a lot of money easily at the casino. However, in the final stages of gambling, if the player has lost self-control, they become dependent on the money they receive from gambling. This is when they need help.

I can't even imagine how hard it is for those gamblers who gambled for a long time and became addicted, only to lose everything and realize they have to start over. I think it's incredibly difficult, especially when they once again realize the meaning of money and that this bright, deceptive world was an illusion.
And earning money is just as hard as it always was, from the first day this guy started working. And it's even worse if he now has to pay off his debts, which makes his earnings even more paltry for this problem gambler. It's hard for him to accept, but it's necessary.

He clearly should have stopped. There's no better way than to stop. A gambler who's willing to borrow money just to gamble will inevitably become addicted to borrowing when they don't have the money to gamble. Honestly, I've been in that situation.

Gambling has severely impacted and negatively impacted this person's life, making it difficult for them to meet their daily needs. So, I agree that they've likely reached the breaking point of dangerous gambling. One thing I would advise them is to forget and accept all the money they've lost. Stay away from gambling as much as possible by blocking all access to it.

How can someone go to the extent of taking loans just to gamble this is not wise. Gambling is not an investment were you can take loans to starts which you are sure of your profit so at the end of the day you can pay your depts, Gambling is a dangerous thing to venture into because you are not sure of the outcome due to its unpredictable nature the guarantee of you making money from gambling is not there so nobody should stress himself gambling. The best way to go about gambling is to set a limit to which you can use in gambling and when once you reach that amount in gambling you should call it a day.

He was already in a very tight financial situation, and he shouldn't have gambled. He needed to get out of it and focus on managing his finances. If he continued to force himself to do so, he would only deepen his financial crisis, risking not just his savings but also his ability to meet basic needs. It would only make his life even more tragic, and he wouldn't be able to get out of his predicament. He would be better off paying off his debts, saving more, and, if necessary, finding a side job to improve his financial situation.

True but I donot  understand why some people find it very difficult to come to the realisation of this and take charge of their lives at this point. They keep going and on with the fake fantasy of they will win one day. This has affected so many lives in the name of gambling and has brought allot of lives to nothing.
Its so unfortunate how some people with promising futures give their all to gambling concentrating on it and leaving other important things that they will dedicate themselves to  and be productive.  I'm not saying gambling is not productive though but when its no longer working for you you have to accept your fate and certainly quite.

When the financial situation is bad, you should definitely refrain from gambling, because you will want to gamble to improve your financial situation, but it will actually lead you to further deterioration. Gambling can never get you out of your bad financial situation, if you need money, then you should do good deeds, work hard. Because it can only make you face losses, it will never help you in times of financial problems, because its main purpose is only entertainment, not a solution to problems.

I've always been of the opinion that even though gambling is made available for all, it's still not a game or an activity every one should engage their self in.
I understand perfectly well that we never can tell what luck holds for us until we try, like the FedEx CEO story, but we have to still understand that not everyone will be as lucky as that man was..

I've meet people who will spend the last dime on them on gambling, lose it all and come out and start begging for money to feed, and I ask why, they say they thought they would win, double the money, feed and still have something left to solve other problems, and I ask myself if this type of risk is worth taking, people should really learn to gamble for fun and not as a means of earning to solve life's problems as there are no guarantees with gambling.

It's truly sad when people put themselves through such, your colleague is at rock bottom currently and if we are stating facts he is to blame for what he is going through. This is indeed a breaking point for him but I don't It's right for anyone to get to such point before considering quiting gambling. if there's a way you guys can help out to keep him under control it would be very help to him, at this point that's what he needs

Because people want easy money and can't even think about the possibility of being consistent towards a job or task in order to make an income from. It's much more convenient to just daydream about gambling's returns than to work on something else.

In other cases, the economical situation of the country looks so bad, that they would take a long period of time until earning enough money through their jobs to purchase a house or car, for an example, so they get desperate for alternatives and gambling looks a potential one. If it works, great and if it doesn't, they don't care at all, because on their views, through another means it was impossible, anyway.

I don't really have to hit rock bottom before I know that I am supposed to quit gambling permanently or quit totally. some people wait until gambling makes them penniless and takes everything from them before they think of quitting just like what's going on with your colleague The moment you notice that your gambling activities is becoming unusual you are supposed to stop immediately instead indulging in it more

I agree with you, most gamblers won’t stop gambling until they no longer have anything. When they are broke, and they can’t gamble anymore, thats when they are going to stop gambling, some will go to the extent of selling their properties just because they want to gamble. Some people won’t stop gambling until no longer have anything money with them, they no longer have any property to sell, and they don’t have anywhere to take loan from.

As a gambler, always gamble responsibly, make sure you have a gambling budget, don’t always exceed the budget, if you notice that you are gambling and you losing so much, always stop gambling at that moment.

I agree with you that your friend is at his breaking point because he's addicted if not, why will he be borrowing money to gamble and pile up debts for himself. I don't need to reach my breaking point before I call it a day. I gamble responsible with self control and discipline to avoid addiction. Though, I was once an addict.

That self control you gamble with is what the friend don’t have, if not their is no time he could have gambled to the extent of losing all he have and still later started taking loans just to make sure that he meets up with gambling, either the friend started on the wrong ground or he might have lost his control while trying to chase profit and his losses and at that stage it’s not supposed to be a question of when to stop but he should have stop gambling already.

Basically, there are some gambler who cannot stop gambling even after losing money by gambling constantly. They are basically called gambling addicts. Because once those who become addicted to gambling, if they are constantly financially damaged, they do not take a break from gambling even after this damage. Basically, gambling addiction is an addiction from which a person cannot get out of the addiction despite his desire. There are thousands of gambling addicts who are constantly losing money by gambling and are still suffering, but they do not take a break for six months or a year. Gambling for fun is okay, but gambling for fun turns into gambling addiction at some point, which is very dangerous. A person with a gambling addiction understands very well how dangerous he is for his family.

Interestingly, some of such persons are not even addicts, they are just some lovers of gambling that they just believe in the fun they get gambling, so it may not be same day, but they can be sure to keep coming back to playing until a time when they will probably win after their multiple failed attempt to win a ticket. Honestly gambling like this does comes with certain addictive tendencies even as it is more about just having fun ut when the frequency with which we get such fun becomes to reoccurring, it becomes a problem with the addictive tendencies.

It's actually a pity how someone would put all his time and energy all through the month hustling just to eventually pay debts he's owing not for a profitable business or project but due to  gambling addicts. Could it be that those that agrees to offer him this loans ain't aware that he's a gambling addict or they just choose to worsen his situation by agreeing to grant him loan every month so he can pay back from his salary? I think those that grants him loan should be stopped and he should be given all necessary support from friends and family to aid him out of his misery because he's not really doing all of that in his right mind.
