There is no need to have any quantifications for you to stop. When it's already swarming you with problems, that's already a red flag and signs are obvious for you to stop.

Because we are hard headed people and we need something to point us in our heads just to stop. If we're on our own, we'll look for reasons to stop even if we're already in trouble, emotionally and financially.

That's how it should be, but it's hard to do that in this day and age. Because children of the same age are also now playing more cell phones, so playing is actually not like in the old days.

But as parents we must be strict with our children, even if we give them cell phones, we must be responsible and accept the risks. Because as said, children now will usually try to access what they want to know. Well here is our job to monitor as best we can.

In this day and age on any social media all advertisements are definitely there, ranging from adult content, gambling and so on.

Because in this modern age children from the ages of 2 to 5 have some tablets which have limited places which can access only a few apps that are educational installed inside, but for ages 10 and above they can use a normal device which the parent just needs to activate parental control in. Aside from the side effects from social media, the smart ones use them for educational purposes.

I haven’t reached that level yet, but based on your description, that already sounds like a serious kind of gambling addiction. The moment you start borrowing money just to gamble because you want to recover your losses, that’s a big warning sign and that’s the time you should quit.

But the problem is, people who are already doing that are addicted. They have no idea what they’re doing, and they don’t even see themselves as addicts. The only way for them to stop is if people around them stop tolerating it. They won’t gamble if they have no money, so they’ll be forced to quit.

If it's my opinion, I'd say the best thing is for them to start using tablets and phones from the age of 16 These are difficult ages, but they are much more mature, It's the transition from teenagers to adults Many already know what they want to do, others don't, but each person is different Children today are very intelligent, very advanced for their age, which is why these things happen.

Here's the reasons why I asked the above question;
I have a colleague that is has been into dept for the past 6 months because of debts accrued due to gambling.  At the end of the month he pays debts from his little salary so he ends up owing colleagues to just manage by till the month ends . And he complains bitterly of how he has been paying this depth for over these months and how it has even mentally affected him which inturn is affecting his performance at work as well.
At this point my only advice to him is to stop anything gambling when he is finally out of this depth because he is at his breaking point already. So what is your take on this issues?

I’m still at a loss if I count how much money I’ve spent on gambling, but at least I didn’t put myself into debt. Getting into debt because of gambling is really dangerous. Playing on demo doesn’t give the same thrill as using real money, but if someone is already in debt because of gambling, they should focus on paying that off first before even thinking about gambling again.

it is puzzling when I see people get to such a phase before they consider quitting gambling, personally I don't even need to get to a breaking point before I realize that I need to change my approach or quit completely. a lot of people lack restraint and that's their biggest problem. We should be able to have limits that no matter what goes on we wouldn't cross, taking a loan to gamble is definitely one of those points that no gambler should get to because in the long run it only makes your situation worse than it already is, discipline is important

I reached this point. I took out a bank loan just to gamble. And what happened? I lost every penny. I had this severe gambling addiction many years ago. I couldn't just stop. My thoughts were consumed by gambling. I was especially focused on the slots. I just couldn't pass them up. All my money went towards that. It got to the point where I couldn't even buy myself clothes. I wore the same clothes for years, but I kept gambling.

In my opinion, everyone should take responsibility for all the decisions they make in life. So, it's not entirely clear what exactly this person (your colleague) is complaining about? Did someone force them to borrow money? 🙋 Did they do it at gunpoint?

In my opinion, borrowing money is not necessary. I believe people should avoid loans and credits at all costs. Loans and credits, at a minimum, entail financial losses in the form of interest that must be paid to the lender. And financial losses are always bad for anyone...

Furthermore, as far as I understand, your colleague borrowed the money not from a bank or microfinance organization, but from his own compassionate colleagues. And now he's even bragging about it. 🤷 This person manipulates others by telling everyone about his mental health problems.  He even admits that his productivity has dropped (meaning he's essentially robbing his employer, too, since the employer's income is the company's profit).

That's how many negative consequences an irresponsible approach to gambling can have! Are you asking when this person should have stopped? And stopped gambling? I think such a childish person should never have started gambling in the first place. Gambling is not for such irresponsible people! From your story, it's clear that this person is very childish. He regularly shifts his problems onto other people. And all these problems arose solely because of his childishness.
