As someone who have a baby boy, if I was never a gambler and my son turned into a gambler and lost his way in it, I will gladly become a gambler so we will move together with the hope to guide him right in mind, I will ask him to let me take decisions when it's time to risk money on gambling and I will teach him how to be responsible about it.

Parents believe that using force is the best way to correct a child or someone in their youthful age, this is very wrong as it can escalate the gambling habit, they will start avoiding home and probably go elsewhere where there won't be anyone to guide them, in the end you will completely lost them.

Forcing something like this can be 50/50 I guess because after all it all depends on the person who is under the influence of the addiction.

If it is still possible then maybe it happens as long as he is in the scope in terms of the environment the possibility of something like this can be used as a solution because let's just say this is a form of rehabilitation.

One thing is that if the person who is an addict doesn't believe and accept that he's an addict then no help provided will be as if they are really helping because the person have to be aware and accept he's an addict and also say yes to help and for this reason, the man arresting his son in order to stop him from gambling is going to be a total waste of time because it won't help him and even in the prison some crazy stuffs do happen in there and he can still gamble inside there unless he will be isolated because there are also gamblers inside the prison.

I'm sure everyone has their own feelings and thoughts. So, when we have a friend or relative with an addiction, we might try to help them overcome it in any way we can think of.
However, if the addicted person is unable to recover despite all the help, then ignoring them is also a way to help. Letting them reach their lowest point will help them come to their senses.
Don't help someone with an addiction by lending them money, as that is the same as giving them a way to continue their addiction.

Stopping gambling addiction is not an easy thing, if followed gently you might not be able to achieve your aim. The best way to stop someone who is deeply addicted to gambling is just to make sure that they don't have access to gambling platforms for a long time. That method the man suggested is not bad, but I don't support that. The guy is not a criminal so there's no need locking him up and subjecting him to face hardship rather than locking him up, he should him to a rehab centre or a vocational training school were he won't have access to gambling it will be effective. Only criminals and law breakers deserves to be locked up in jail not someone suffering from addiction.

Indeed, doing similar action by means of rehab or taking vocational courses may divert their attention, as long as they don't have any access to gambling whatever form it is, either online or offline access that can limit them with good conscience, as they may not take it as bad thing against them but a care and love that you are showing to help them coping with addiction.

It won't help because it's just a distraction from the problem. The best way to overcome addiction is to re-instill in the gambler a love of work and regular employment. Because gambling is characterized by the phenomenon of money devaluation. It's like when a gambler wins a large sum in casino, say, the equivalent of their monthly salary, and does it in literally one minute. And of course, for such a person, money will no longer have the same meaning as before. They won't want to work the same way they did before. They'll feel like work is pointless, because you can hit three million in a row on a slot machine and easily make a huge sum of money. And when the gambler realizes this is an illusion, they'll have to relearn that money should be earned consistently, even in small amounts.

In my opinion, this method is ineffective for people with a serious gambling addiction. Many gamblers have been in and out of prison, but their gambling habit remains unabated. Perhaps a person only realizes and stops gambling when they become seriously ill, lose all their possessions, or are abandoned by their loved ones. That's when they realize their problem and are able to stop gambling.

The best way is to stay away & wait for him to approach you. You can't "help" someone who doesn't want to stop; there's nothing you can do if one doesn't want to make the first step.

From my experience, gambling addiction can be stopped when someone can ignore gambling for a long period of time. If, for example, his father's plan is carried out by arresting him and sentencing him to two years, that means he won't have access to gambling.

It may be effective, it may not be, it depends on the individual. What I have seen so far from my friends who are seriously avoiding gambling, they separate their important money, the important money I mean is money that already has a purpose, for example for household needs etc. They keep gambling, with a specific allocation. When that gambling allocation runs out, they ensure they have no more money to deposit, by far the best method I know.
