We only have 9 days left before we close the curtain on 2025, I want to take our minds back to some of the forum events that made 2025 interesting. I selected topics for each month from mostly Reputation and Meta. If you think I missed any topic please feel free to mention them in the comments.

Jan 8	Hiding content (SMF patch)	The year started with some suggestions for Bitcointalk improvement. PowerGlove created a new SMF patch for hiding content. Theymos has not approved this yet, maybe he will do so in the new year.
Jan 22	Ross Ulbricht is coming home in January!	If you are a bitcoin OG then you would remember the Silk Road era and everything that came with it. Many in the bitcoin community had always thought that the punishment given to the silk road founder Ross Ulbricht was too harsh. During the 2024 US elections, Trump promised to free Ross Ulbricht if elected, and on January 22, Ross Ulbricht was granted a presidential pardon after 12 years in prison.
Jan 27	Naija board 2024/2025 cooking contest official STATS and ANN	The Nigerian board hosted her first ever cooking contest in December 2024 to celebrate the holidays and diverse Nigerian culture. Mia Chloe was the organizer and the results of the contest was released in the new year.
Feb 3	No longer pursuing Epochtalk	This is arguably the most significant event of the year. No one was prepared for the bombshell that was about to be dropped. Theymos announced that the forum was no longer pursuing Epochtalk. This revelation was met with mixed reactions from the community; some were okay with SMF software and the additions that have been made in recent years while others expressed their frustration at the turn of events. There were several threads created throughout January to debate this decision and how it affected the forum]
Feb 8	Worried about this user - they may be planning an exit. Does bitcoingirl.club have a temporary ban? The idiot Vod lies all the time The idiot BitcoinGirl.Clun lies all the time	February is the season of love and gifts but what is love without a little drama? BitcoinGirl.Club and Vod reignited their old feud, I'm not sure who/what started the beef but the dispute lasted for months.
Feb 17	Improving the word-breaker (SMF patch)	PowerGlove suggests an improvement to the word-breaker feature
Feb 22	AI Spam Report Reference Thread	Spammers have turned to AI to do their work for them and flood the forum with generic posts while building their alt farm. To effectively combat this challenge, Nutildah updated the list of AI detectors to give reporters a better chance at identifying AI generated posts and keeping the forum clean
March 22	[Results 2024] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆	GazetaBitcoin and icopress announced the winners of the 2024 Bitcointalk Community Awards.
March 29	Talksearch.io - Advanced Bitcointalk Search Engine	NotATether launches Talksearch.io
April 1	[April Fools] Replacing the merit system	Theymos announced that users will be de-ranked if they don't earn enough pMerit from playing the merit poker game. A number of members loved the game so much that they asked themselves to keep the site active.
April 1	Hilarious notifications from Bitcointalk SuperNotifier Telegram Bot	Also, Ninjastic Bot sent this telegram message to users: “Banned! We detected that you have been permanently banned from BitcoinTalk. You can check the reason”. As you would expect, this cause a bit of panic among many users until they realized what day it was. Other users received notifications with funny messages.
April 1	Was the founder @Satoshi just active? [April Fool] fun	JiiBs was not left out of the fun. He edited a screenshot to make it look as if Satodhi recently logged in the forum.
April 12	Theymos appoints a new moderator for B&H	Mia Chloe noticed that reports in the Beginners and Help board were not being handled quickly compared to another boards and applied to moderate the board. Instead, Theymos made Mitchell the new moderator for Beginners  & Help and also Project Development board. Mitchell has been doing a great job keeping the board spam free ever since.
May	Negative Sendable Merits. A bug?	Merit source, Fillippone encountered a problem while trying to distribute his allocated smerits and it quickly became clear that other merit sources were facing the same issue.
June 8	A list of some of the newly appointed merit sources	Theymos removes inactive merit sources and appoints new merit sources - Cryptoaddictchie, SmartGold, joker_josue, Charles-Tim, Mia Chloe, Don Pedro Dinero, cryptofrka, TheUltraElite and others.
June 12	[Voting 2025] Bitcoin Pizza Day on Bitcointalk 🍕	It is a tradition of BTT to celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day by hosting a pizza baking contest 🍕
June 12	My AI experiment on the forum	June also reminded us that there are countless ways to ruin your reputation on bitcointalk. Legendary member seoincorporation was caught using AI to make his posts, he attempted to convince the community that it was an experiment but no one bought that story.
July 12	Re: Squishing the squashed-column bug (SMF patch)	Theymos adds smf patch created by PowerGlove in  August, 2024.
July 14	Is laszlo back?	Fillippone noticed that Lazlo account had woken up and showed a password reset on bpip.org. This sparked speculations across the forum member, was the original account owner truly back, and would he posting again? Although Lazlo account has not posted anything yet, it was last active on Oct 20th.
Aug 14	The Easiest Way to Format Posts on Bitcointalk (No BBCode Skills Needed)	Royal Cap launches a site that allows users to easily create tables on bitcointalk without BBcode.
Aug 22	Ranking up/ down	PowerGloves proposed a demerit system to help increase post quality on the forum. This idea has been voiced by a few in previous years.
Aug 31	[TOOL] Bitcointalk Weekly Post & Merit Tracker	Ace creates a script for weekly post monitoring and tracking merits.
Sept 28	ANN - 2025 Bitcointalk Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest	The 2025 Bitcoin pumpkin contest thread was created in September by ChiBitCTy. Submissions officially opened on October 1.
Oct 2	Condoras RIP my friend	October began on a sad note, as one of our own passed away. yahoo62278 and the rest of the forum pay their last respects to Condoras
Oct 16	Sportsbet.io Announcement on Bitcointalk Future Involvement	The gambling community was shocked when long-time sponsor, Sportsbet.io and Steve, announced that they were leaving the forum. This marked the end of an era for BTT gambling community.
Oct 24	Bitcoin Node Challenge feedback	Bitcoin node challenge was created by NotAtether in 2024 to encourage bitcoiners to run their own node. After a year of running this challenge, NotAtether decided to seek feedback from the community on how to prevent allt farms from taking advantage of the merits given from this challenge.
Nov	Massive alt farm of my country - 10+ accounts A legendary member who owns at least 9 more accounts is cheating sig campaigns Two alternative accounts, one of which forgot to re-login Hero Members and 1 Sr. Member are connected and 2 of them are in Epicbet Three heroes and a legend are cheaters	Alt farms and account cheaters peaked in 2024/2025, maybe it’s as a result of bitcoin reaching 100k+. Over 50+ alt accounts were exposed in the month of November.
Nov 15	1miau is now officially declared dead	1miau sends a farewell message to the forum.
Dec 3	Re: ⭕ BitList.co - Bitcointalk Archive | Data Visualization & Search	One of the forum’s most used tools, ninjastic.space, underwent a rebrand and is now known as BitList Archive.
Dec 8	This forum is fucking awesome	Free market Capitalist takes time to express how much he loves the freedom and quality of discussion on BTT.
Dec 8	Largest Account Farm Ever Found: 24 Connected Accounts	More alt farms exposed.
Dec 19	Re: Mixer Restrictions	Those who were here during the CM era know why mixers were banned on the forum. After a new service appeared, it sparked debate whether or not it was a mixer or an exchange. This debate reignited old arguments, and finally Theymos updated mixer ban to address the situation.

As we move into 2026, fresh minds will join the forum, new discussions will emerge, and the community will keep doing what it has always done - educating the next wave of bitcoiners and ushering them into the bitcoin ecosystem.

Really was a crazy ride huh??
Time sure has its own unique way of rushing past us doesn’t it? Rapidly turning what was once known as yesterday’s headlines and trends into history that no one almost talks about. Making those trends just sit behind everyone like fading echoes.

I really don’t know why, but I’m having this crazy feeling that as the new year approaches, we’ll be in for some more crazy surprises and something unexpected is on the horizon. I’m not trying to be prophetic, like I said, it’s just a gut feeling that next year (starting from January) is gonna open some doors or unexpected surprises that many won’t see coming. So everyone should start fastening their seatbelts cos it’s gonna be a hell of a rollercoaster ride

I think it was quite an eventful year. For Bitcointalk I guess most important event is finally ending story with Epochtalk and New Forum Software. Better later than never. For me personally and I guess for big part of Gambling community big event was Sportsbet.io leaving forum. Sportsbet and Steve was huge part of gambling community who supported lot of games nad projects. They will be missed here.
And biggest shock and loss for me is death of condoras. When I saw news about him it was huge shock for me. I only talked with him maybe 2 weeks before death and then he is no longer with...

A long and beautiful ride for is all with a taste of irony. The price of bitcoin has kept us in such manner and then the fact that the hope for mixers returning to the forum is still very much uncertain adds to the irony. No thread about the price of bitcoin...

There were still remarkable moments to recall in year 2025, including some said reputable members who got caught as alt farmers, loan defaulters or ban invaders, while acting high and mighty.

Ross Ulbricht released is among  a few positive things Trump did in the crypto space.

Some addition to consider:
The beginners and Help board getting a new mod is something remarkable between.
laszlo returning, although he didn't or hasn't made a post yet.

These are some good events you’ve putting together that happened throughout this year, the most of them have being highlighted here and has been very interesting to discussions in the forum. I am just getting to know about some of them going through this compilation thread of yours, such an interesting thread. I can’t really think of some other important threads that have being left out here as you’ve mentioned mostly the most important and engaging ones during the course of the year. The new year is fast approaching and I’ll also say there is still more work to do.

It has being a drama bitter sweet year actually if you know what I mean, nevertheless we're still here and alive and being alive is what matters most before anything else. Hope we all go into 2026 achieving all that we couldn't be able to achieve in 2025  both in the forum and outside our normal daily lives.

That's a good compendium of Bitcointalk 2025, you did a nice job, is not easy to have such tabular data of important discussion that happened in bitcointalk from January till December,

Thanks for reminding me about the exit of Sportsbet.io, I hope they can return to the forum in the future.

I never interacted with Condoras but I felt a pang in my heart when I read the news of his death so I can imagine what it’s like for those had a relationship with him. We have lost a number of people since I joined the forum, we almost one another a few years back. I’m glad he’s doing well now and looking after his health.

Why are you guys posting the old names of people who clearly needed their names changed for privacy reasons? Obviously any data posted online is going to be quickly archived somewhere, but that doesn't mean that your highlighting/reposting of it has no effect. In some cases you may literally be putting lives in danger. If you were investigating a scam or something, that'd be different, but you seem to just be indiscriminately & recklessly dredging up data that would best be forgotten.

I don't mind if you keep it in the table but I believe it is better if you remove it.

This is a great summary and it is also useful for many. It is really amazing to see the events that happened in 2025 together and it was not an easy task to put the events together.

We are in the last week of 2025, so we can prepare well for 2026 from the best events of the year. Even the mistakes of the old year remind me that I think your summary will be effective in correcting them. You can search for some more events and add them here from which it is possible to learn something new.

I didn't realize so much was happening on the forum, with all sorts of drama, events, and other important things. While this doesn't cover everything, this thread has summarized the important things to know.
