Although I have not made any discussion based on what I'm about to suggest because I don't really know if the forum will agree to it.

My unpopular opinion - is that forum users should be able to know if their profile has been viewed. I have checked many anonymous websites and I have created account on them but if my profile have been viewed I will know by the numbers of the viewers not who viewed my profile. If the forum programers have agreed to it, they should do it the way that only the owner of the account will know if his profile views increase. Reason for this suggestion is because people visits different profiles for many reasons, some to check trust and post histories.

Ok, but why do you need to know who took a look at you? Would it make you feel more important if you saw 5 users looked at your profile? What if noone ever took a look, wouldn't that bother you?

Probably better to not know and not let it mess with your forum journey 1 way or the other.

Although we do come across of spam in gambling section, but i will advice that if you found anyone post irritating and unreasonable, it's better for you to ignore the user...

I dont know if anyone have observe these, most posters in gambling sub, do repeat same comment in next page of their rely, I think sometimes it's irritating...I think that section need to be filtered, else numbers of spamming will continue to increase, because some users are taking advantages of it, and think that's a norms.

I need to make 5 posts per week over there and I always have trouble with that requirement, not because I don't like talking about football or gambling, but because there is so much spam that it's hard to have a conversation.

Join one of the paid pools and you shouldn't have any issues writing 5+ posts per week. Those threads are basically the only ones on that board that are not infested with crap.

I used to find the most spam in Altcoin Discussion, it was full of very short, one liner shit posts and incoherent English. Even that area of the forum is much higher quality than it used to be now.

Spammers are trying to hide the fact that they don’t have anything meaningful to say by increasing the character count of their posts. So now you get two paragraphs of mindless drivel instead of one sentence. It may look better at first, but once you start reading the posts, you realize it’s mostly just fluff.


Unpopular opinion: there's too much merit going around.

The gambling discussion subboard may be considered a spam zone due to the too repetitive related threads and discussions going on there, yea, I agree with that to some extent. The gambling Sub will keep having related discussions because there are really very few core gambling topics to talk about as most of the topics being raised are centered on behaviour of gamblers when it comes to losses, greed, recovery, addiction, disciplined among other few unrelated topics which come up once in a while and sports events too.

Considering campaign quotas which require participants to engage and be more active in the gambling boards, we should expect more of these spams. Somehow I feel it's not that bad because most of the posts are a reflection of the behaviours of a gambler and it's happening almost everyday.

The points this user posted is not the point of discussion here, I dont know if their's anybody observe such...I will advice to respond to what you understand, I know at beginning in the forum it always be difficult for new users to cross check their response before posting.

Many are worrying on current high price of bitcoin to invest with. But in my opinion, we need to console ourselves with the future prices like $1M or $10M. When all 21 million supply to be mined out only after 100+ years, I am sure that the people who are accumulating right now are still in early phase only. If bitcoin is costing ~100k for early adopters, how much it would cost for late adopters? So, go for DCA freely coz it is still cheaper.

It’s not the fault of the subscription companies. Their target audience are in the gambling community, you don’t expect them to pay for posts that aren’t bringing in the money. In my opinion, the gambling is only a “spam fest” because the community encouraged it to be one. Merit increase the quality of a board so how do you expect “quality posts” in a board where merits is an anomaly?

Here is my unpopular opinion,

The ignore button is as much a tool for spammers to have a good time spamming!

The ignore button might solve some problems like keeping certain users off your radial and solve a problem on one path being yours but, it doesn’t help the report to moderator function very well neither does it help the forum real good since, the users can still spam and be cool while, the moderators aren’t prompt to act in terms of delete and temp bans where necessary.

But the irony is that you don't ignore a notorious spammer.
The ignore works well for someone who is annoying to you, but doesn't spam nor break rules. It could be a troll or someone who carries themselves in the manner that you do not like. Instead of entering into fight to change them, you ignore them. If their post irritates or hurts you simply ignore them but others might like them.

So, the ignore button is not for spam control, rather the report button is.

Everyone's perception of a post's "value" varies, and that's why I voiced my unpopular opinion.

Internet forums are an outdated form of online communication, and young people today mostly use social networks and Telegram (for crypto). The main reason why this forum is still alive (unlike other internet forums) is the ability to monetize members' activities on the forum through signature campaigns and other methods.

I sincerely believe that is a popular opinion. There would be a huge drop in activity if signature campaigns were to stop. Take Altcointalks for example, the post quality there only improved after BTT members teleported their accounts there to advertise mixer campaigns.

Current way of distribution of merits may not be perfect but I like the way it is. I mean, people earn their own smerits (excluding merit sources), and they can spend 'em as they see fit. I see no unfairness here as long as one doesn't manipulate the system in one's own favor and since system is open, if you see unfairness report those users and they get tagged.

My unpopular opinion: There should be a walkthrough for first-time users.

• Point them to the Help menu to learn how to navigate around the forum.
• Introduce the search/advanced search functions for their concerns.
• Lastly, advise them to read the pinned posts before posting.

Knowing that they went through this, there's no more excuse for posting these kind of topics ^[1][2][3][4]

Some forum users often consider any board that is really active as nothing but spammers posting there, and to be honest, this is absolutely a wrong narrative..

I've most times visited the Altcoin discussion board which is considered the number one spam fest on this forum and amazingly found some really good posts there.

I personally think what most of us consider as spam is overrated, spam is subjective in definition is my believe, and of course, there is are obvious spam but on average, we more more quality posters than spammer on this forum and on every board.

Sorry I don't have any unpopular opinion to share at the moment.

Premier League Discussion, La Liga Discussion, so on and so forth are full of spam? Yes, we can find spam on several pages, but i think the interaction in those threads changes, each week has its own discussion based on the performances of the teams on how they concluded the fixtures.

I'm asking for clarity, do you consider mega threads like the above to be truly low valued, considering there is always new events to discuss each week for a whole 35-38 league matches?

Really? You want say that these topics isn't full of spam? Now I looked La Liga megathread and just today we have 4 pages of posts made. I just remind that last La Liga game was played week ago. What you can discuss when there is no action happening? People just repating same shit again and again and have empty discussions.
Same thing about EPL or any other megathread of football leagues.

The gambling discussion board is a cesspool of trash guys. Yes of course there are some worthwhile topics(not very many), but browse through the section and look at how many similar topics there are with almost the exact same discussion happening in them. You can find 10 threads on addiction in the 1st 3 pages I bet. Noone uses the search feature or cares to, they just make a new topic and worry about their weekly quota.

The rule(which i use like a dumbass as well) of must make x amount of posts in the gambling section was great at 1st and seemed to be serving its purpose, but now it's just making users make unnecessary posts in the section. I lowered my requirement to 4 posts in the gambling section but maybe it needs changed to 2? or even 0? Just let people post where they feel comfortable and maybe the problem lessens.

Whoever argues any other position is a retard or a spammer himself. OP is an AI spammer that I tagged too. Surely we need the following:
29 pages of "Taken loan to gamble is very risky, what do you think?",
49 pages of "What is the best way to gamble?",
45 pages of "Why don't the rich people get addicted easily?",
countless more examples.

That some topics exist that are good should not even be brought up when the quality to trash ratio is 1:1000 or higher. Fewer than 0.1% of threads and topics in that section are good.

We should!  Right now Theymos (centralized authority) gives away all sMerits.  The DT system is voted on by members, independent of censorship (mostly).

I heard that the spam was much and that it even led to the lost of some valuable forum members before the introduction of the merit system.

I also cannot tell how 2017 was, but I sure know it was like a small circle of Bitcoiners that could be controlled. Majority of the people then sincerely came to learn and discuss bitcoin. But today, many are here because of the signature campaign. Also the numerical strength of the forum has grown. Removing the merit system will make moderation a very difficult job.

Dt was fighting the spam in those years. Read my post one more time. If you read/quote half of it, naturally you’ll miss the full meaning.

Nowadays trust ratings are not as powerful as it used to be. Before the merit/flag system, trust ratings was the king.

Theymos made trust ratings weaker on purpose so people won’t get upset by the negative ratings so easily. And flags are mostly about scams.

Merits are getting farmed.

In the end spam didn’t stop, just adapted.

What we have now is almost the same outcome, but a more complicated system.

Just a (unpopular) thought anyway, current system has its advantages too.
