I want to know how people easily get addicted to gambling.

The same way am also eager to know why some people keep repeating on the same topic of addiction for no reason, this also is an addiction, we should ask, why is there more topics on addiction, are there no more aspects in gambling and sports to talk about, why are some being addicted to addiction related topics, am not surprised anyway, because the moderators are just watching before they soon start a massive move on related threads.

I strongly believe option one is the main reason why people easily get addicted to gambling.  I am not just talking because of what I feel, but I'm talking from experience from the people around me that suffering or have suffered from gambling addiction. They took gambling as their source of income so in the bid of always gambling so they can provide money for their family or have more money in their accounts, they go all in and gamble as hard as they can that was how their problem started.

I think people become addicted to gambling after they win a big amount of money. I had a friend who once hit a $200 ( 1999 year )  jackpot on slot machines — not online, but in a real gambling hall. After that, he changed and started spending all his time in slot machine halls. He lost all his money and ended up owing everyone — neighbors, friends, and relatives. He even started stealing things from home to sell them and gamble. In the end, his father kicked him out of the house.

Yeah, sometimes casinos can use huge wins and crazy ass multipliers to trap gamblers and make them think winning such an amount is very easy and this mindset opens a whole new world of possibilities that in reality is nothing but mere fantasies that if they continued in that path would only become their worst nightmare. No matter the wins, gamblers should never lose their rational thinking or believe that their skills could fetch them more wins or even eliminate the presence of luck and chances in the game as doing this could become the easiest route to addiction.

There have already been a lot of threads about this. The short answer is that the reason is in the person himself, or, if you prefer, the reason is genetic. One person has a weak will, the other has a strong will, or one person is easily carried away, succumbs to temptation, the other is not. The causes of different personality patterns (characters) are determined by heredity. Upbringing and the environment can only strengthen or weaken them. Therefore, a weak-willed person should be extremely careful about gambling (if he realizes that he is predisposed to addiction). Whereas a strong person can gamble carefree. Especially if he is confident that if he loses, he can break furniture and break a mirror in a casino... after all, this is the main adventure and the pleasure of a pleasant evening (joke)

The truth is that members fines that topic easy to spam around with, so obviously they keep repeating words and rephrasing everything as is around gambling addictions, no efforts is being put into make sure there are different aspects of gambling addictions that we need to know and avoid, all the topics are basically the same all the times.

Many factors could likely cause one to be addicted to gambling, but the most common among them is when one does not want to let go of their losses, they prefer to chase their losses to recover all they have lost, which is where addiction sets in, and they will not really know till it becomes too obvious that they are addicted to gambling.

One can actually turn gambling into a source of income, but one's approach to it matters because that would also determine if they can easily get addicted to it or not, and when they are able to put themselves on a check and observe if they are being guided by their own rules of engagement, they can be able to gamble without any addiction effect in their gambling life but when done out of desperation as a source of income, addiction is inevitable.

Both matter in transforming someone to be addicted to the gambling. Just understand the cycle. Someone is gambling, He's doing it in regular basis. He's getting addicted. He might think to use it as one of source income. The both things you mentioned above were correlating each other. I think this is a common knowledge about the addiction.

Those whose mentality is attracted to earning money in gambling are more likely to become addicted to gambling. I have seen many people who have lost money in gambling and lost more money to recover that money, as a result, that person is lost because he has broken all his luck in gambling. And finally he has abandoned his family responsibilities, so I want to say that this is how addicted gamblers lose their money and are attracted to gambling.
So I say that gambling should be for fun, then I think it will be possible to stay away from gambling addiction.

There are so many reasons for addiction and this reasons could be from greed for example if a gambler has won a bet instead of pulling out the money and invest it in a business they would want to play and rebet again in other to win more and might lose the one they have won in the process, secondly what causes addiction in gambling is joblessness, when an individual doesn't have a job and he/she depends solely on gambling for survival it causes addiction because if he doesn't bet he won't have another source of income where he would get money to sort out his bills.

Consistency gambling is another way that makes people addicted to gambling too, gamblers believe once you are consistently playing you will definitely win someday and that leads to addiction and your money is also going as you keep playing to win. But I have also noticed that there are people that have different sources of income that are gambling addicts, what could be the cause of it?, should it be greed or what?

These is quite simple to understand that gambling addiction start from when a gambler wants to beat the casino by all means. There's nothing more than that because being a consistent gambling can never make you addicted if you gamble responsibly without chasing losses, there are gamblers who are gambling everyday but they don't know anything about gambling addiction due viewing gambling as an entertainment or having fun.

Gambling is not a get rich overnight so we should always try as much as possible to manage ourselves when gambling because there's no way to make money in gambling.

This has been discussed many times. There are different reasons; we all have different reasons, but the majority is because of money, or rather the love of money. Most of our problems, if not all, can be solved by money. A lot of people get addicted because they are after profit. Of course, who doesn’t want money? All of us need money. And it happens that gambling could make you rich overnight, even though the chance of it is low, they are still taking the risk.

Me too... I was surprised when I saw a fresh thread about addiction again. Do we have a hidden culture that only a few people know  about? What is it with recreating several threads to discuss the same topic? The more I try to think of it, the less innovative it looks to me.  Addiction has gotten the better part of the gambling discussion board, so I'm not surprised if this one becomes another Mega spam fest.

If someone takes gambling as their source of income that is very likely to lead to gambling addiction soon. I think some gamblers are doing it the other way round. First, you should gamble only for entertainment and then, after a year of gambling, if you see that you can earn through gambling much more than on any other job, you have all the right to start thinking on making it your main source of income. Even then potential addiction cannot be ruled out, but, as players who've made millions of USD on poker show, you can go that way for several years successfully. And, of course, even if you made millions on lotteries or slots, don't even think of making it your main source of income.

Never shy away your responsibilities at home, for starters. Next, yes, gambling for fun can lead to addiction, so, everyone should be careful with that, but there are examples of people gambling for years without any negative consequences. I, for one, am one of them.

Gambling addiction starts if a gambler lacks self control and discipline, whether someone is gambling to make money or the person is gambling for fun, they can easily become addicted once they lack self discipline. It's self discipline that will help anyone to control how they act towards gambling and then prevent themselves from being addicted.

I don't think this is entirely correct, because not every gambler becomes addicted, and I assume that different people will have completely different levels of resistance to this disease.

You can believe what you like. Nobody is safe from addiction.

But yes, some people are more easily addicted while others seem to be more hardened against it. But that does not mean they are immune or somehow resistant.

In fact, if you were to ask the really addicted people about their addiction, they would stoically tell you that they are not addicted and can quit anytime they want.
But we both know that is not true.

Both of the reasons you have mentioned are major reasons why people get addicted to gambling. I believe that the biggest driving factors are money and enjoyment. What person doesn't want to waste his time having fun? And what person doesn't want to win big money? Which is why people end up addicted to gambling. But there are a lot more reasons like alcoholism can even be associated to gambling addiction.

Once you are too comfortable doing one thing, then the chance for you to get addicted is there. No matter the amount of time which we try to talk about gambling addiction, the result will still remain the same: every player that's addicted has something which they find really hard to control that has led them into addiction.
