I think that gambling can gradually become an addiction by not following the right rules and gambling in the hope of making quick money. It is very important to set time and money limit before starting gambling, it is not right to gamble repeatedly to get back the lost money and it is very important to take break for some time regardless of winning or losing and after losing or winning, emotions or greed naturally work, so it is wise to control your emotions and limit yourself to your own means. Both reasons are majore causes of addiction.  Then another cause fould also be the rising rate of gambling activities in the society. 

How can a person run away from family responsibility by turning to an addictive gambler.

How is that even possible when there are several attributive behaviours like gangsterism, becoming an alcoholic and heaps of other vices that can be indulged in invasive of responsibility. Greed and inadequate discipline of self is what do lead to gambling addiction.

The main problem starts from here, the moment gambling activity goes out of control, from that moment the whole thing changes from very harmful to very harmful. That point of view makes sense. But in the end, it seems that everything revolves around how the person deals with the game and their own emotions, right? Limits help, but not everyone manages to respect them in practice. Often, when someone fails to respect their own limits, they end up having problems.

That is mostly the right short answer.  But emotions are very hard to control.  It is the reason for a lot of failure and really bad mistakes.  Trading, Gambling, even job and family life can all be affected by it.

But then again, people need to also have a little bit of common sense and understand that they may be special some times but they are not 'the chosen one'.  There are a lot of poor people in the Casino and most of us Gamblers do not get to see any of them coming out of Rich cars and in expensive suits.  What happens to the majority of them is what every Gambler should expect.  You are likely either going to keep living in the same conditions or you will become poorer letting the emotions have an effect on you.

I don't really see anything wrong with regularity as long as we take it to a point where it's basically wasting our time and hindering our progress. I understand what you're struggling to imply and it's very  bad to fall on gambling as a means of income to survive with, but such a mentality can lead to addiction because with the losses that would be made, the gambler would be tempted to chase his losses since it's where he has placed his hope to survive from and save himself from his wretchedness.

The greatest or worst mistake a gambler will ever make is to take gambling as a source of livelihood because that is where there frustration and downfall in life starts from. I have seen many people who do this, but it is clearly not a solution and I have no idea why they do it. There are a lot of reasons and so many different factors involved but it just comes down to the individual. Some people do it for the feeling that gambling gives them. You know that adrenaline rush, others do it because they are chasing a fortune that seems out of their reach and perhaps maybe they think that is the only way that they could possibly get rich. Maybe its as simple as some dude doesn't want to go home to a wife who makes him miserable so instead he wastes time at the casino and it becomes a habit that slowly sucks the life out of him until he can't stop even if he tried! This is very harmful for those who, after hearing the stories of others' victories, become excited to achieve that victory themselves. They basically lack common sense, they should understand that victory depends on luck, so those who have been lucky and won, we will not get it if we expect to win like them, without luck we will never be able to win, and those who do not understand this simple fact, they will keep making wrong decisions, which will only lead them to losses. It is the both...Infact when gambling is treated as a source of income, it tends to lead to consistent gambling.... This is coz as we know anyone who has a income source will always want to be receiving money instead of loss and when gambling is treated as a source of income that gambler will very well also implement that very mentality. And when any loss is encountered, that gambler will want to go back in, refusing to accept the loss and before you know what is happening addiction gradually creeps in....That is what it is always important that gamblers always avoid seeing gambling as a source of income, it never is and never will be....
