There is no specific cause of gambling addiction. The reasons vary from person to person. But most of the time, seeing it as the main source of earning money is seen as the main cause of gambling addiction. Currently, minors are secretly getting involved in gambling. They secretly register in online gambling and think of earning more money in less time. Children around the age of 18 secretly register and start claiming gambling as their main source of earning money.

Situations such as this warrant people to seek gambling as a last resort when they have no hope, and people who go this far possibly have exhausted all opportunities to seek help or an alternative source, so they just fall back on gambling for a rescue. Some are lucky while some are not, and as a matter of fact, to some, it just turns out to be the beginning of their doom and a straight path to addiction. This is how many gamblers set in their path to addiction, and it is unfortunate that the majority of them have not been able to recover to date.

I have seen many people who do this, but it is clearly not a solution and I have no idea why they do it. I have seen someone who did not have money for a medical treatment (cancer) and had small amount, and then gambled it all away to make enough to afford it, but he lost it all instead. Wasn't this predictable?

I mean didn't he realized it was this easy to lose it all? He just assumed, if he can't afford it, he will pass away anyways, so losing it or not doing it was same for him, it both ends with him passing away, so he did it anyways.

It is unfortunate, though, that nobody came to his rescue, but his resolution to gamble what he had was not the best way to getting solution to his problem, and in the end, he lost it all and also gave up his life. I would not blame him for the step he took, as he felt was the best for him at that moment.

One thing people in such situations think is a miracle to happen so they could be able to sort out their bills, but they forget it is not like that for everyone. Although they do that becausue the have heard about someone who took that bold step in the past, and it worked out for them, so they too decided to take that path with the hope that they too could make it right but not everyones path go the same way and that is what they fail to realize early enough.

When a gambler don't realize that they are becoming too addictive to gambling, seeing it like something that is like a usual activity for them trying their possible best to make money from gambling. Actually, I kind of disagree... If we take most of stories and experiences of people who have struggled with attention to gambling I am sure we would find some common reasons for those people not to stop on time when they knew they were doing something they were not supposed to if they wanted to stay responsible. Greed and remorse are the main reasons people get addicted to gambling, the first one because they want to solve their life problems with the money of the casino, and the second because once they start to lose money, remorse drives them to chase losses, further digging their own grave.

One needs to keep a very cold mind if one intends to deposit on a casino and stay responsible, to be able to control ones emotions.

But I don't think all addictions are caused by peer pressure, and I think peers who exert pressure are wrong because they shouldn't put pressure on others. I think addiction happens because of our own actions and mistakes, even if our peers exert pressure. If we are strong enough to resist, addiction will not happen.

Claiming that victory is easily obtained is a flawed way of thinking, and yes, that is one of the reasons why addiction can occur.

You know, this is actually one of the most common and major cause of addiction in gambling. As a gambler if you put money at the front of every thing, it would be difficult to stay out of not been addicted..
We should know that we as humans are emotional beings so we cannot loss something precious to us “momey” and not want to try to get it back.. I believe addiction is caused by impulsivity. Impulsive people are likely to develop addiction, because they can't control their instincts properly. They are driven by their most primitive desires and don't think carefully on the potential consequences of their acts. It's a mistery why there are people like that, and that involves complex psychological and physical quimical internal processes, which can be also result of genetics.

However, I believe there is always potential to make things different and to overcome obstacles, so what I said earlier can't be used as an excuse to accept addiction as an unbeatable reality.

It's easy to destroy but to build is always very hard, at this point where someone has become so addicted the solution is always very difficult to carry out as it will lead them to some other addiction that is very good or that can distract them from the other addiction, like isolating someone for months while giving them what to do like painting etc and at the end they will become addicts of painting to remove the gambling addiction.
And you are right the moment someone feels the impulse for something they become very vulnerable but they impulse comes from a heavy load which seem overwhelming that they can't cross but seek and escape like gambling.

Type of people that easily get addicted to gambling. When a man is jobless he got addicted to gambling. First let talking about source of income. To me the two points contributes to gambling addiction because there is no way that you can actually talk about one without mentioning the other. You are right, people don't get addicted to gambling right away, they gamble for some time, and then they start getting addicted to it, and the main reason behind that is that they start winning some money in the initial stage, like if they had started with $50, and reached $150 or something, they will be over the moon and that is the moment when they start thinking about how gambling can help them make money, and from that point onwards, they will start gambling with a mindset to make money from it, and then losses will start feeling like a burden to them.

Once a person reaches this place, even if they lose money every day, they will somehow convince themselves that they are going to win it back, so they keep spending money on gambling with the hope that they will make it one day, and that day never comes until eventually they become addicted to gambling and then they can't go back from there.
