I think the problem is not gambling but the reason why people come there. If someone thinks of gambling as a way to make money or solve financial problems then it is natural to be disappointed. In my opinion, gambling is bad only when people do not learn to accept defeat and become irresponsible. If it is within limits to spend their free time it is just entertainment for many. The stigma is magnified because bad experiences are more discussed but if used correctly, the image is not always so negative.

In the end, this is what leads them to suffer the dire consequences. This industry will not be disturbed by these people, which is precisely why casinos can actually make big profits. It may seem like there are a lot of negatives, but this won't affect anything.

I don't agree with the OP's statement, because generalizations like these try to oversimplify reality. Consider that in several countries gambling was forbidden until a few years ago, so if we compare the notion of gambling among their citizens most probably the sentiment improved in general.

We live in different different environments with different contexts, backgrounds, cultures... so talking about what the "people" is saying doesn't make much sense for me. In fact, in my country, even if gambling has been allowed for decades, I think that the perception has improved, especially among millennials and zetas.

Well, I think the reason for the negative remarks about gambling is more based on the latter of the options you gave as possible reasons there, which is some greedy gamblers who have tried to use gambling as a means to an end but failed and out of disappointments and frustration have decided to discourage other gamblers from gambling.

For me though, I have experienced the very bad side of gambling to be honest with you, but I've always agreed it was due to my very own mistake, and I can't because of that start discrediting gambling like it's a taboo that no one should engage their self in, gambling still helps me till today, not in terms of money but in terms of entertainment, there is always one mode which if I get into, the only thing I want to do is gamble and have fun, and it's always a pleasing experience even if there are no winnings.

I think the problem is that now everyone can bet and gamble online more easily. While this brings some benefits and convenience, for some people it has become a double-edged sword, leading those who know little about gambling to view it as a means to achieve their desire for instant wealth. I think this is a childish mindset. And many people around me are addicted to it right now. They are even very young or at an age when they should be very productive. But they are immersed in gambling with the wrong goal. We relieve stress and have fun at the casino. But it seems that nowadays, more and more people are not gambling for fun. Nowadays, people only just want to win the millions of dollars that’s being seen on adverts by gambling sites, so when they hop on a gambling site and ends up no winning as they had expected to win they become frustrated and even depressed.

So many gamblers nowadays don’t find gambling fun anymore because their aim of gambling isn’t for entertainment anymore. We all have different approach that we use when getting into something new even if there is a certain pattern that is explicitly explained to be the best one. Gambling is a money making place also, so many people will never appreciate it as a place to make fun in but rather to tap from it to make money.

So when your approach to it if for monetary sake, as long as you don’t get the result you want, you’ll want to look for a way to condemn it and praise yourself even if the mistake was from you. Those who see it for fun will continue to play without emotions, and when you ask them, they’ll tell you a thrilling experience they had. Many tend to play gambling for their own mistake , gambling is there for you to entertain yourself, stake some money to make some extra when having those fun . Not just that we heard only negative things, but we also heard positive things. Those who speak negatively about gambling are those who gamble for money. But those gamblers who come for fun remain silent. I expect this kind of situation because it is easy to complain online now.

But not all we've heard is just for this reason. Many had also experienced bad due to scams and unfair casino rules. But there is one thing I've seen…people now have a different approach than the gamblers before. We are too emotional, more aggressive, and greedy.
