When one bets on a ship, it is committing the logical fallacy of expecting to get wealth in no time that will keep us financially stable and secure in the long term. You are correct in that it is much more reasonable to create stability by actually making investments than to use superficial gambles at a casino. Rich or just richer, many people hope to become just a bit richer.  Only a few actually think they will be rich from winning the big state lotto or similar, its a very slim chance and I dont think many believe they will, only that its not impossible which is fair I suppose.

It's disappointing to realize, only on the second page, how much people actually hope to make it big from gambling. How do you even walk around with such thoughts in your head? Even though we all know it's not totally impossible for that to happen, but the chances are way too slim for one to hope that it happens miraculously someday. I just gamble sometimes to see if my curiosity is right, and if I got the nerves to try something odd, not for a million dollars!

I don’t believe that gambling is the right path for getting rich, and it is not just the odds that am concerned about,  but the mentality gambling creates. Gambling make people to believe on luck rather than structure, skill or planning and even when someone wins big, there is no guarantee they will be able to do it again or manage the money they just won.  Many of the success stories we hear are just the result of bias. We do not hear from the thousands of people who lost and left with regrets.

Gambling can be losing game after losing game and people still get trapped in a cycle of betting and losing money because of the false hope that the next bet will win big and recover the money lost.  There is always a slim chance of that,  but the outcome is always going to be a losing game and money is going to be lost. After a while quitting becomes very hard not because you are close to winning, but because you have already invested too much money and it will not be easy to just walk away.

I would never get addicted to gambling because putting money into things with less than a 1 in 100 chance of winning big is time and money wasted,  building wealth takes a consistent effort, which doesn't bubble with the excitement of gambling,  but the rush of gambling isn't a solution to gaining money.  Putting effort into a side hustle is going to be way more rewarding than betting on the next big something.

In fact, I believe that if we gamble with the mindset of seeking wealth by constantly working hard that's the wrong mindset and will actually be dangerous because it can lead to gambling addiction. Yes, instead of seeking wealth from gambling you might actually experience bankruptcy.
