Basically, getting rich through gambling is actually possible because it is proven that there are some people who managed to get a life-changing jackpot but unfortunately it happened because of luck that came at the right time.

You're right, maybe someone can become rich by unknowingly making a large profit or winning a jackpot by gambling, but their number is very, very small. There are also many people who gamble with the goal of winning the jackpot or making a big profit, but unfortunately they do not gain anything. And finally, it is seen that even if they are well-off in their families, they become poor just because of gambling. Therefore, the number of people who become rich by participating in gambling is very small and we can dismiss it as insignificant.

Huge majority of the people are in loss and still gambling. However it's statistically unlikely that you won't win any big wins if you play for a long time.

But when we are talking about "substantial amount", what do you mean by that? You don't need to win life changing amounts to get hooked, as you get hooked just by winning occasionally.  It's just likely that those wins just don't cover the losses. If you would only lose, it would take insane jackpot to keep you playing. I don't know Why some people only have winning in their mind towards gambling, but you have to know that there are winning and losing that may occur in your expectation towards gambling but don't allow such challenge to make you give up on gambling. I have never seen anyone who has been able to survive in the long run with great financial success by gambling, I have seen many gamblers who have won big, but at the end of the day they have lost everything, I have never seen anyone who has changed their life with that win after winning big, but rather their greed has forced them to gamble more, and in the end they have lost everything. Sometimes the question I ask some people who make their plan to earn a living from gambling is, 'Who have they actually seen make something very good and tangible?' Why just depend on gambling?
