drugs and gambling both destroy a person’s life but the way they do it is different, drugs directly harm the body and the brain, health gets worse, working ability decreases, family problems increase and the risk of crime and death comes very quickly, this kind of destruction is visible, it happens fast and everyone can understand that something very bad is happening.
 
on the other hand gambling destroys a person slowly, it starts with fun then turns into loss, at one point everything goes out of control, after losing money debts begin, lies increase, relationships break, mental stress and depression grow, self respect is lost, the most dangerous part of gambling is that a person does not even realize when they have entered the path of destruction, so it can be said that drugs take life quickly while gambling slowly takes away the whole life...

OP, what's the point of this forum thread? We all know that addictions can be damaging for a person's health. You are describing something obvious. It's like admitting that water is wet. I don't get the point. It also seems that you are generalizing too much.
Some drugs destroy your life slowly, others can destroy your life pretty fast(heroin). Some gamblers get addicted slowly(after years of moderate gambling), others get addicted to gambling after playing several times. You can't put all people into the same category.
Time doesn't matter. What matters the most is our ability to maintain self-control and to not get lured into chaotic abuse of both drugs and gambling.

Drugs... or what is classified as a drug today, are stimulants or depressants of the central nervous system.  Often, drugs lead to ruin for people who fall into the trap of trying to fill an inner void, but sometimes they make people more active and focused. We can't judge those who use drugs, nor belittle them; they are victims of societal pressures. They are not to blame. The best thing is to help those who are truly lost in this world of addiction. There are some who use stimulants but don't fall into the trap of ruining everything; it's a matter of mindset. Drug overdose have ended alot of life, and lately under age drug usage have become rampant in most societies and this is somewhat a bad trend that is killing the young fellows faster than anything affecting their condonation and mental stability, this have become a concern for us and we must help fight against drug abuse around our societies.

Gambling is still fair enough to be fixed compared to drug abuse.

False. A single gambling session can ruin a person's life because the amount of money you can lose is much greater. You cannot consume $1 million worth of cocaine, heroin or any other drug you want in one night, far from that. But you can lose $1 million in a single night. You can lose your life savings and even get into debt with quick loans and lose everything in no time.

I can't dispute the effects of gambling and how it has affected people negatively but I think this is a personal preparation. Many gamblers can stop gambling if they want but I feel they are not satisfied and this is because of greed. You can't outshine the casino, that's one rule and the second is you can't make wealth from casino if you are not the type with high precision, you need skill to be able to enjoy gambling and make that money but then again, there is nothing that is assured.

Coming back to OP description, I don't think gambling destroy life like the way drugs destroy life. If gambling deals with you, I think you will be financially and mentally affected but if you abuse drugs and take harmful substances just because you want to enhance your body with something, you are not only financially, emotionally and mentally affecting your head, you might be having a short term life duration, I don't want to believe gambling is the worst but it's bad.

To talk about smoking addiction, I think it is relatively cheap, it will not burden finances excessively, unlike drugs or gambling, but usually people who are addicted to drugs or gambling, they generally smoke and can be said to be addicted too, I mean the relationship is not balanced if compared like that because the costs incurred are different, gambling and drugs are expensive on average for their types, if compared with cigarettes it is the same as comparing with alcohol, that makes more sense, I don't know who can have an addiction to two types of addiction that are expensive like gambling addiction and he is also addicted to drugs.

As for drugs, there are various reasons why people take drugs and every drugs has prescription on who to take it and how to take it. I support the majority of the mentioned here. Just like the drugs, gambling ruins lives as well but in a different manner. Drugs assault the body and mind directly and in most instances the damage is irreversible or very difficult to revert. Gambling however destroys mainly money, relationships, and stability of mind. Although money could be recovered in the long run, the damaged emotional burden and loss of time could not be accumulated that easily. The risk is that these addictions are interdependent, so a person is likely to be encouraged by the stress caused by gambling to do drugs or by drugs to engage in careless gambling. Ultimately, there is no better or worse addiction and they all gradually deny an individual control, discipline and meaning. Early intervention, discipline, and awareness is the actual solution.

We have been hearing since the age when we have intelligence that drugs and drug addiction are so dangerous for a person that drugs destroy a person like cancer. Yet people cannot get themselves out of the terrible circle of this drug. People know the harmful effects of drugs before consuming them, yet people keep themselves bound by the terrible addiction of this drug. On the other hand, gambling, like drugs, slowly destroys people economically. Although a person knows about this uncertain game long ago, people cannot get themselves out of this addiction like drugs.
