...
I believe this was a surprise for every Brazilian. He's been a free agent since 2019, so I don't know how competent he is as a coach, because as a player he's impeccable. And from what I saw in the statement from the company that manages Seedorf's career, they didn't include a bonus for staying in Serie A. There are only bonuses for achievements and qualifications, without mentioning the risk of relegation to Serie B. Let's see how he does.

I hope things work out really well with Seedorf
He has experience, has played a lot of soccer, and it could definitely work out

But...
My opinion is that Corinthians spends too much on things it should spread out to spend more wisely
His salary will be R$1.7 million per month

Wouldn’t it be better to hire a cheaper coach while they quickly settle their debts so they can sign players for next season and have a more balanced team?

Even if it means putting the boys from the youth teams on the field
these signings and such expensive salaries don’t make much sense to me when the team is doing so poorly

It has never been in Corinthians' nature to do good things with their finances. And I believe that this won't change now. It's in times of crisis and need that they always do these crazy things; just look at them bringing back other former idols like Tévez, Ronaldo, and Memphis himself. I think it's a marketing tactic they always try to escape their perpetual crisis.

The problem is management, debt, and terrible signings that ultimately impact the sporting side of the Corinthians machine. They can switch managers endless times and the problems will still keep happening. The only solution is to clean up the club and manage it with a long-term mindset, just like Flamengo did in the last decade. They put up with a bad squad, consistently stuck in mid-table, all to wipe out their debts. Once things stabilized and they got the club organized, they started spending again and now they're reaping the rewards. Bottom line, that's what it comes down to: management.

I agree... the core of the problem is structural and financial, but I think the problem is not just management, there are many sporting and planning failures too, poor squad choices, anyway...

I think at least they got it right by start to changes with coach replacement, many changes start there and that alone should already help improve the players’ mood. About spending less... are not they already doing that? This year they have already prioritized free agents or loans because they did not have much money, so the problem is not "buying badly", it is not being able to sell well, renew contracts properly, plan cycles... they need to replace the top board and let the coach do his job.

If it does not work out... let them go to the second division, spend less, restructure and come back stronger.
I think Internacional needs this too. Its sad!!!

Looks like Corinthians botched another hire, this time with the manager. They brought in Clarence Seedorf, a 'manager' who hasn't managed a club in seven years, haha. It's absolute insanity what these directors are doing. The club is winless in nine games and they go and sign a foreigner who hasn't coached anyone in almost a decade. Yeah, this has 'success' written all over it. It's unbelievable how completely reckless these executives are.

Yesterday I was with some friends, some of whom root for Corinthians too, and their sentiment is the same as most people’s: no one agrees with what Corinthians is doing
No one is excited about Seedorf and the high salary they’ll be paying him
And they’re also not happy with the managers and the high amounts paid to Memphis Depay

The level of amateurism with which they’re running Corinthians is downright absurd,  it makes no sense at all to pay such high salaries to just a few players while the team is out of balance
The problem is not the coaches, and everytime they fired another one, there's resignation fines, and ends up spending more and more

Looking at the league standings, Corinthians is the only team to have lost its last 5 games  Angry Angry Angry

Teams like Bahia, Red Bull Bragantino and Athletico Paranaense should be taken by another clubs as example of how to balance investments with performance along the season. Mirassol in 2025 was also a good example of that. They don't have the same budget of Palmeiras and Flamengo, but still manage to achieve very decent results with inferior amounts of money under their disposal.

I agree in parts... Mirassol is a good example of team that managed to have a historic campaign investing only around R$6.5 million ($1.3 million) in signings and even so managed to reach the top 4 of classification.

Bahia and Athletico also have good performances, but their structures and budgets is much bigger, so comparing them directly to Mirassol is "disproportionate" because the margin  of investment and even the possibility of "risking investments" weigh much less in their decisions.

But anyway... money has an influence, but it is not decisive, the examples you mentioned are indeed valid... the point is that Brazilian soccer needs more clubs that grow sustainably, as Mirassol tried to do, instead of relying only on financial surges or selling everything after every good season.

It's total madness. They're going to bring him in on an astronomical salary, and we all know how this ends: Corinthians won't pay up, Seedorf will take them to court, and the club will be saddled with another multi-million dollar debt to pay off for years. It's money down the drain on a manager who has zero relevance in the role—after all, if he was actually any good, he wouldn't have been out of a coaching job for this long.
