Do Big Wins Make You Smarter or More Careless Afterwards?

Alot of gamblers talk about losses in bitcoin or crypto gambling here and there but we don’t really talk much about what happens after a big win because based on what I’ve seen, a big win can go two very different ways afterwards such as when some people hit the jackpots they become more careful and disciplined about their subsequent gambles while others become overconfident than necessary and begin to take risks they normally wouldn’t take earlier thinking that same luck that hit them earlier will hit them again.

I am asking this because sometimes it feels like wins can even be more dangerous than losses especially when they create false confidence in you. If you’ve been in this situation before where you made a decent win, I really want to know how your mindset reacted to it, whether it gave you the confidence to want to continue playing bigger and more frequently or whether you just wanted to protect what you already gained?

That is the thing about winning in general, we most times overlook it especially when what most people tend to discuss is all about losses. People relate more to losses than to wins, i know it sounds somehow but that is the truth really, well at least that is how i see it and the illusion of i have won many times against how many times you have actually lost, that is something again as we don't talk about often as well and that Illusion crowds our judgement and i believe that is the standpoint you are coming from, so yea.

That's a valid thought, when we're winning we become more careless because we're confident that we'll not dry of funds. But if we're losing more, we're also hungry to win and that's also a dangerous thing. IMHO, it's best to keep it balanced and well enough for you to gamble, have some fun and win some at least. If you've been terribly losing all of your funds and you cannot control it, that's the problem where you have to contain it and start realizing that it shouldn't be gambling that must control you. But it should be you that can control your gambling activities win or lose.

This is different for every individual, if I'm going to speak for myself I would say that winning makes me more careful afterwards, a lot of times I don't even place a bet for weeks so that i don't lose the profits I made, winning be very difficult that's why you must learn to utilise the ones you have when you get lucky. After winning big i always take out the most part of what I have won and stake a little bit of it, this is risk management and a lot of gamblers can actually save a lot of money when they practice this instead of throwing their wins away.

Me too, it pushes me to be careful and protective of the profits that I was able to make. If the amount is significant, I'll be more careful to that and will only spend funds that are not that much. Taking out the bankroll first and will roll out with the remaining funds from that profit that I've got. Winning is difficult but it's more difficult if we've been losing a lot because that will affect us mentally and will cause distress if you don't know how to handle yourself from it. So, you've got to choose which is difficult but for me, I'll choose the after difficult effect of being a winner than a loser.

A more popular mindset that most gamblers will have is taking more risk thinking that they can be able to flip the amount they’ve already made and wanting to risk again. The most gamblers will also misuse this big win and develop that same overconfidence which allows them to mismanage their funds. Only a few people will be able to manage this wins and then bring about at least few wins more to make them continue and stay ahead of the game.

Gambling can easily make you develop some feelings like you’ve won over it and you’ll not have any problems getting further, but the truth is that, risk wisely and should be within your limits. Yeah actually huge or big wings can be tempting and may leed to overconfident of staking high when not necessary hoping to win huge, and his involves gambling excessively without control and without but of course if that is the case then we have no choice than to gamble responsibly knowing when to call it a quit to avoid overspending and

I can understand when OP says winning is more dangerous than the loses because it will causes people want gets huge winning again and the effect is they didn't stopped to gambling and based on my personal experience those who addicted gambling mostly from the people who have got huge winning that because after that thing happened their mainset about gambling compeletely change and they have seen gambling as good way to earn money and never stopped to attempts to gambling although they don't have money anymore but luckily i can avoid that behaviour although sometimes i got decent winning from slot but i only considers that day is my lucky day and i have never attempt to push myself to repeat that result

Everyone, will surely have their own attitude or reaction whenever they win huge amount of money in gambling however, for me whenever I win huge amount of money through gambling, I usually have this Confidence that I can still more and that is what usually takes all my winnings and I’m trying very hard so I can stop that attitude.

Perhaps people really don't talk about what happens after a big win because they don't always come frequently like losses do. On people's reaction after a win, I think it's more of winners becoming overconfident than careful and disciplined. Wins tend to create that impression of, "I've finally arrived/I've got the magic wand" kind of feeling and thus the confident boost.

there will be unconscious part of your mind that will plant some confidence and you might even get too excited playing into the next round that you sometimes forget the chance of losing but soon enough you will be humbled.

False confidence is a dangerous thing in gambling and its common among winners. I don't know why it happens that the moment you win gambling consecutively, the chances of false confidence increases. This is the point most people increase the amount they use per bet and even chase losses because of the confidence that winning is sure. People with false confidence end up being humbled by the casino no matter what they win, they will lose it back.

When I was new to gambling, I had a false belief that if it's my time to win its my time and I should strike when the iron is hot. It's a dangerous belief because you will go all out, thinking that it's your time to win.
After so many losses, I learned to control myself and be more realistic.

I have to protect my winnings because you have no guarantee that, if you continue, you will have the same success you enjoyed earlier. You need to set up a plan for what you should do if you win big. Most of the time, when you win big, you become careless.

I would assume more careful because if I won big, that means the future is a lot harder. If I decide to cash it out, which most of the time I do, then it means I am going to go back to gambling normally and there is no thing wrong with that and its a smart choice.

Or I would not withdraw it, and just postpone depositing again, meaning I am willing to lose it back, but want to play with that amount for a long time before I need to deposit again and do not want to lose it soon. Second one is harder, to stop yourself from gambling more when you can.

It depends on the type of gambler that you are, if you're the type that gambles responsibly a big win will remind you to be smart, knowing that you can lose everything that you won if you push your luck. But a carefree gambler who believes that luck can be reoccuring consecutively will be overconfident and continue to gamble with the win, what happens most times is that such a person will lose everything, capital plus profit. I always say that you don't control anything in gambling except your money and time, if you can have a total control over them you will understand what it means to be entertained in gambling, no pressures whatsoever.

I don't know, you're talking about a hypothetical thing that could happen. I don't know, I'm not very convinced, in my opinion it's a truly extreme case, something like this can't happen. Then maybe there will have been some cases, but like one in 10 years, it really seems like a far-fetched hypothesis to me.
