The idea of gambling for entertainment, in my opinion, is just to cover up their shame and avoid criticism from others. But there's nothing wrong with gambling for money. The most important thing is to gamble only with an amount you can afford to lose and never chase your losses.
I think people gamble more for the risk and the adrenaline rush than for the money. Look at it this way: who here has become a millionaire through gambling, or who wins more than they lose? I think almost no one has. Deep down, they believe it's about the money, but when there's an addiction, money only matters as a means to gamble. In reality, an addict could win 10 million dollars and keep betting more and more until they're back to square one. That's why I think the reality goes beyond that; money is just a stepping stone.
Yes, I understand that, but isn't the motivation and what attracts gamblers the fact that the prize is money? Of course, and I'm sure about that. If there were no money, not many people would be interested in playing. They understand and know that losing happens more often than winning, but in reality, everyone has the feeling that “this time I will definitely win,” and that feeling is supported by high self-confidence.
Gambling for the adrenaline rush does exist, but it's only for responsible gamblers who don't mind losing. The rest are those chasing money.
