so when you see a PM from old forum members, what you should do is to check their feedback and from there feedback you will know the kind of person they are.
But I will advise, regardless of their feedback tell them to make it public or forget about it.

That's true, because even their positive feedback can't really tell if actually they are a good person or not. Remember people change every day so for a newbie to be taking private conversation from higher rank members serious is very bad,  let everything be done openly else you have to let it go to be ensured of your safety.

And for the DT members if you are giving trust to someone, make sure the member is trustworthy because if they are involved in scamming newbies here, and the newbie says he believed the member was trustworthy because of the trust you gave the member, you too will be held accountable to some extent.

DT members will only do what they're supposed to do by making their analysis from the past and present conduct of the user in question before giving out their trust rating, but what the person will later transform into in future is what they don't know. Like a said earlier, people change by the day. Someone that seems good today can turn into something else in the future, so is just for everyone to be careful and not only newbies.

You’re very correct, this forum is very educative, most especially for all newbies that really want to learn about bitcoin. But as we are learning we should be careful because of scammers who pretend to be real people and pm you all in the name of, they want to do business with you.

Already we have a lot of pinned threads that's emphasizing on scam, if a newbie is smart enough to read a lot of discussion in the forum, i don't think that it will be victim of scam through forum pm...Because a smart registered member of forum, immediately it receives a pm from another user relating to deal that has to do with finance, it will share the pm sent to him by creating a thread to expose the pm...but ignorant and greedy user's, will like to keep the message they receives within themselves, and it's what lured some of them to be victim of scam...

Infact this forum make more emphasis on scam,so a wise newbie would have no option but to read them in other for them to be enlightened.It is usually advised that crypto users should avoid offers that appear too good to be true,that same principle should also be applied to this forum especially when the offer appears to be a PM,if a project is worth participating then it should be posted openly in the service board where users that are interested would participate in the project and not in PM.Anyways,not all PMs from old members are intended to scam you but you also have to be careful and calculated.Then in regards to exposing those old members involving in deceptive activities,most users may just ignore the text but on the other hand if they’re revealed other users who may likely fall victim would be guided.

Not just business, maybe borrowing money too. This actually happened to me. Someone sent a message asking for help to send USD to their wallet. The reason was that they had a debt that needed to be paid off immediately. I just read this message and then laughed, because I didn't even know them but they dared to ask for money. I ignored the message but I still keep it. Whatever the message is, the important thing is to be cautious and always be able to look for the real information so we don't end up losing out. What keeps me safe is that I don't really trust project collaboration offers or any offers in the form of links.

You are right, some people are very desperate to be at the top and when you are desperate to be at the top, you can give in to anything you see.
Recently, I saw a thread on reputation board. Someone messaged the guy that he’s going to give him free merit, and the guy brought it to repetition board if he was a very desperate kind of person he would have agreed to it so he can grow his account and from there, the guy that messaged him would have scammed him, so people need to be very disciplined so they won’t fall into problem.

Being a higher rank member does not make him automatically a good person in heart. They are just abusing the forum, since it is a large community and a big place for lot's of people to unite into one place , that is what they are trying to use and scam newbies. Those old users that scam usually see newbies as an easy target. Some newbies enter this forum with no idea about Bitcoin or how the forum works. So if they see PM's from an older account, they might not sense the danger their,, expect someone who is cautious and   knows how scammers operate. Seeing an account with huge merit and activity can make a newbie to lose their guard. Some type of scam might not even involve trade, they older account might even say they want to teach the new user on how the forum works, but they will have to pay some amount of money.The important thing for newbie is to avoid those messages they see in their DMs, especially anyone that talks about money or trade.

Actually, if they’re a reputable user, the chances of them scamming you are much smaller compared to an ordinary user. But yeah, we never really know what happens to them, maybe their account got hacked or they decided to ruin their own reputation on purpose.

That’s why there’s no need to trust sweet promises in your PMs. If you find a PM that looks suspicious, you can report it or just ignore it. The important thing is don’t fall for their flattery because we never know people’s intentions on the internet.

Trusting people too quickly, especially in the online space has gotten a lot of people killed, landed several other into different troubles, others in severe losses, which is why we need to first verify everything and everyone online before trusting them. Having a good reputation can be helpful, but that doesn’t in anyway mean that the person is completely safe to deal with in every situation. Yes, there were some reputable members in the past that did shady and despite that they've been trusted by the community and were considered as one of the trustworthy members in the forum, they still did those unexpected things. I think some probably have planned it and they have farmed trust and then were only waiting for one big ticket exit for that shady deal. And when that opportunity came, they did the unexpected.
